Clean bathrooms, good campsite just by the American river. Ants were present but didn't bother us.

Beautiful and quiet campground. We were next to the river and enjoyed. Theres a nice trail that is part of the campground that is stroller and wheel chair accessible. The campground could use some TLC but overall a lovely spot.

Beautiful campsite, will 100% be back! Room for 2, maybe even 3 tents depending on size. Easy access to river down below. Ants were present but not an issue as others stated. Will definitely be back here next summer! No cell service.

we enjoyed our campsite very much. All the campsites are spread apart so you have privacy and are all in nice condition. Our campsite was by the American River with a small meadow between us. We saw lots of humingbirds and chipmunk and other birds. The fighter jets was pass over us atlest once a day, fun to see.There are lots of ant mounds around but was not bothered by ants and misqutoes were not bad either. We had a relaxing 4 days here and will go back

There were signs warning of high danger for fires so no campfires. There were a number of people having a camp fire at this campground. Overall the campsite was beautiful with great views of the mountains.

Great Camp ground, safe, clean and quiet, we will definitely return.

Great spot. We stayed at #8 which was plenty large enough for two cars and two large tents. Great access to the water and the shore contained an abundance of perfect skipping stones. Ants, while present, were a non-issue for our family which included a 5 year old and 1.5 year old.

We love this campground, the sites are spaced a good distance apart. The camp host is very friendly. The only reason for a 4 star and not 5 was the inconsiderate camper across from us. He ran his smelly diesel generator continually. He did turn it off at quiet hours but it ran from 8AM to 10PM, we could see a television in their camper van, and if you have to watch television when you go camping and disturb the peace and quiet of the wilderness for others then go to an RV park or stay home.

Nice site, love the area. It would be great if maintenance crew could check for and cut limbs overhanging the road through camp. Initially thought we just had damage to bathroom vent, but discovered damage extended length of RV and had to have roof replaced.

The campground is excellent, very nice and quiet. The river is near, not deep and incredible for kids. The restroom is clean and it has a great smell (not flush). Host is amazing and absolutely kind. We expected a wonderful time there. The nache loop trail is near, and also the Boulder Cave Trail. The campground is in between. Excellent location.

We enjoyed a quiet week when the campground wasn't very busy. Restrooms clean. Only saw a few of the thatching ant hills, none in a campsite itself. Enjoyed hikes out of Chinook Pass and Sunrise.

my first time at Pleasant Valley cat ground I had spots number 10 which is an excellent spot and number nine which is over the road from 10 I took my grandson who is three years old my daughter 28 my son-in-law 30 and my son 23 we also brought our two German Shepherd Zoe and Marlo we camp in tents and even though there was a fire bad we had an amazing time campsite number 10 is a great site I highly recommend number 10 it’s right on the water it’s beautiful view of American River and beyond. We took a day trip to bumping lake and we took our two paddleboard‘s and we stayed all day and packed a picnic it was beautiful bumping lake is absolutely beautiful highly recommend it The only thing I would have to let you know if you don’t re-closely that there are no sinks only compost toilets are available no other amenities except a picnic table and a fire ring which of course we could not use because of the fire bad Pleasant Valley campground is beautifully secluded and it’s very private

We always have a great time at pleasant valley. It’s quiet, plenty of room, and such a kind host. Lots of bugs and ants though!

This is our fourth stay at Pleasant Valley. It is typically a quiet, peaceful campground; The sites are nice size with lots of space between sites. This year one camper ran his generator most of the day and evening, every day. I recommend he go to a campground with hookups next time! It kind'a messes up one of the joys of camping, the wonderful sounds. I do not have any issues with generators, I own one, but I only use it to charge the batteries or run the AC on a hot afternoon, which is rare here. To me, it is all about being respectful of the others around you, Thatcher ants are the only downside. They are throughout the campground, but if you leave them be, they do not bother you. Use caution on the trails, especially with children. They will bite if threatened. There are no hookups, but water is available at a well with a hand pump. Very cold and good tasting water. Vault toilets are located throughout the camp. American river is next to the site and runs high May thru June and in heavy snow melt, into July. We usually jump in a few times if the temps are high enough. There are numerous old growth trees in area and one camper told us the state record old Western Hemlock tree is in the campground, but we did not locate it. Overall, it is one of our favorite campsites.

We love this campground. It is small and provides distance between sites. We come back year after year and watch the landscape change.

The cleanest bathrooms I've ever experienced outside

Beautiful trees, water, and trails to walk. From here you can drive to the falls and hike up to them. There are many ant hills at this campground.
@TimothyS909 · Camped on Jul 29, 2021 at Campsite #16
Great Campsite well situated to the back of Renier. Lots of shade, not very many sites and a great cold stream nearby for kids to explore while making dinner.
@AnyaD259 · Camped on Jul 9, 2021 at Campsite #10
Prior to our arrival, we got an email alerting us to the presence of Thatcher ants and to avoid camping directly on their mounds. When we arrived, we discovered that the infestation was so severe that there was no where to place a tent without disturbing several ant hills. While we understand this is a naturally occurring event, there was no way for us to utilize the space safely and we ended up having to find somewhere else to sleep. There were also lots of daytime mosquitos. This site took the “Pleasant” out of Pleasant Valley. We are experienced campers, and this site felt out of the range of comfort for our group. Would potentially work best for someone with a trailer or RV, but as tent campers, not a place we’d recommend.

This is a beautiful campground that is well located just east of Chinook Pass.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
