Bill and Jill were amazing hosts, kept the camp clean and bathrooms were spotless! Really nice hosts with great conversations, kept our camp and stuff safe while we were out on our daily adventures! No real cell coverage at the campground for us, were on Verizon.From the campground it's a short hop to Mt Rainier and Paradise, cell coverage along the way in spots, note that reservations are needed between 7:00am and 3:00pm to get into the park, after 3:00pm access is open to all. There was kind of a stampede to get into the park and to Paradise at 3:00 but on the way down we had the park to ourselves.Crystal Mountain Ski Resort is also close by and has great food! Also worth note is the gondola ride to the top for views of Rainier and other local mountains. Additionally they offer a shuttle to Paradise that skips the reservation system if you didn't make a res ahead of time.There is plenty of trails to hike that start right at the campground entrance, we really liked the one across the street along the river.Another day trip worth note was Bumping Lake, it's a reservoir created in the early 1900s but they left all the stumps from the trees, makes it a really cool place to hike and kayak.All in all great camp site. We for sure recommend it.

There were 23 cars parked in the day use area the Sunday that I arrived, with about 35 to 45 people in the area. I took a walk through the day use area and noticed that only one car had tag in window indicating that they had paid the day use fee. In the evening, after everyone had left, I took another walk through the day use area and noticed it totally littered with garbage, watermelon rinds all over the place, soda cans, hot dog and hamburger buns, paper plates, Potatoe chip bags. paper, plastic rapers, discarded clothing, etc., etc., all over the place. Twenty-two vehicles didn't pay the day use fee so the US Forest service lost out on $220.00 on income it could have used.it is a shame that people would litter like this, as there was a garbage can in the area.A ranger should patrol the area and fine people who do not pay the day use fee.

Site 2 was perfect! Next to the river and very spacious. Restroom was very clean. Pretty sweet 10 mile hike across the street. Cant wait to come back!

Quiet campground with sites along the river. Easy enough drive to hiking at Mt Rainier to hike in and see the sunrise from the trail. Site is right next to the garbage and vault toilets, which were clean and well supplied, only occasional smells at the site from the toilets. Be advised, the campground (along with others along this stretch of Hwy 410) is popular with elk hunters in the late summer/fall. During our stay in early Sept, hunters blew their calls and drove through the campground at all hours during the night tracking the elk. Occasional rifle blasts at 3-4 am within a mile or so. Otherwise, quiet during the day and not bad for minimalist campground.

People were loud and inconsiderate. Left early because it was not a peaceful experience

Had a great time walking the river. The family always has a bet to see who finds the biggest agate and my wife won it this year with one as big as my fist. We love the campground

A good, quiet campsite with access to the river. The site we were in was pretty close to the neighboring site with minimal brush between, but the size of the site was excellent. We did have some yellow jackets interested in our breakfast, so come prepared for bugs. The bathroom was very clean, there is no sink.

Wonderful spot! Our site was right on the river and very private. And huge! Could’ve fit a lot of tents here. I loved that the sites were spaced out generously and we couldn’t hear/see anyone other then a slight few of people across the river but no biggy. It was better than we were expecting as this was a last minute trip and we’re shocked to find something available!

I feel like this campground would have been a nice place if it hadn’t been for the bees that kept bothering us. They were swarming every time we were cooking or eating. We ended up leaving after the first night because of this. The layout of our site (#8) felt a little small, but we made it work. We had 2 fairly large tents and 2 regular size tents as well as a 10’ x 10’ screen canopy. There was a river that ran behind the campsite. It was more like a creek. It was also very rocky. And the path to the river was a little overgrown but not too bad. There wasn’t too much noise from the road, which was nice. And the sites were pretty well spaced out so it didn’t feel like we were on top of other people.

The campsites and restrooms were very clean and maintained. I enjoy camping here as this was a campground I went to with my family many years ago and enjoyed the experiences then, and now. it is nice to have hiking trails and areas all around the campground to access as well, besides being able to enjoy the river, and beautiful surroundings. This is not a typical destination area for me, but when I only have a short time to go out, this area satisfies many of the things I want to do when going out.

I’ve stayed here before and have never experienced the flys, bees and ants like this time. My dog couldn’t sit or lay on the ground because of the ants. As soon as I started cooking, I was swarmed with flys and bees. I ended up cutting the trip short.

Recreation.gov is problematic. Between the reservation fee that almost 30 percent of the cost of a single night at a site and the change fee exceeds that, and limited refunds if you cancel a reservation. And presumably these fees do not go towards our public land. All of these contribute to a platform that is hostile to the public and in my view does not align with the values of the national forest service. But good luck getting a camping site in Washington without booking ahead. Disappointing all around.

Weather was great, were still able to have campfires, Pit toilets were clean and fresh daily, campsite was well maintained and picked up, campground host was friendly and knowledgeable and consistent on times he came through each day. Campground is close to several walking trails and scenery is beautiful. Whistlin Jacks an easy drive down 410 for needed supplies. A great spot for a family camping weekend.

The bathrooms were super clean and the sites were well kept. I like this campground because most of the spots are fairly private and large.

The camp site was much smaller than expected. We chose to go to another site at Cedar Springs campground. This was much better for our family.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
