We spent 3 nights right after Labor Day and the whole campground was empty except for one other camper - so peaceful. We were at site 16 which had a trail that led directly to the river. There are only pit toilets and no showers but you can always bring your own portable solar shower. Very quiet.

Came to this campground for my birthday trip with my family who has been there in the past and this was our first time there, and I was super impressed. I LOVED the site that we reserved with the water access behind it. Only thing to point out is we have a 16 ft camper and it was a little tight with where the large rocks were located and the two trees straddling the entrance (no big deal though) . If you have a larger camper I would suggest sites 1-3 but the sites arent by water nor as much shade.The campground was super clean as well at the vault toilets. Hosts were kind and are doing a great job with the place. Was a nice surprise seeing garbage services there as well definitely wasnt expecting that. We will definitely be going back expecislly with that specific site .

This site wasnt huge, but fit our 2 tents just well enough. Even though it looks like its on the water, there is no access to the river. You have to go through other sites. Very limited shade for most of the day! So be careful when its hot and plan ahead. This part of the campground had all the RVs, and the generators were on all night long due to the heat. This isnt the sites fault, but just be warned that could be the case for any of the sites in the loop The camp hosts were great! No cell service. Great place to see the stars. Just wish there was water access for every site.

This site (11) was nice! Had pretty good shade. But no river access. We would have had to go through other campsites.There was a good amount of space and right next to the bathrooms. Bathrooms were clean as well! I would stay here again.

Great camp hosts! But be warned, there is no shade at this site. Check the weather and be prepared! On the plus side, there was amazing star gazing! My only complaint is that there is no river access for sites not on the water. (small store and restaurant nearby is great!)

Clean campground!Camp hosts went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay!

Campsite was quiet and well prepared prior to arrival. It was obviously checked carefully for cleanliness and the area around the camp table was actually raked! The pit toilet was especially well cleaned! Peggy was warm and inviting. They take obvious pride in their work! Couldn't have been nicer!

We had a great campsite right against the river. Camp hosts were lovely and informative. Outhouses were clean and surprisingly and unsmelly.

Similar experience to another user. Reserved site 3, no map, no markers for where site 3 is, apparently no camphost. Every site was full, we asked people what site they had and they didnt know, didnt have a reservation. It was late and we ended up camping on the side of the road.

Campground is small, but many of the sites are large and right on the river. We had site 15, which is very large and a lot of trees and shrubbery so we didnt notice our neighbors. There was a path to the river as this site is set off the river a little bit. We were able to easily have 3 tents, and could have had a couple more. The rest of our group had site 14, which was very small and had no shade so we all pretty much just used my site during the day. In the future, it would be ideal for a large group to get sites 15 and 16. The campground was very clean, and well definitely be back.

We reserved 08, by the river but a small campground. We had our own private beach and clean.
@CarrieS6009005 · Camped on Jul 14, 2023 at Campsite #16
The campground is quite small, so there isnt much to do onsite except go in the river if you have a river site (no trails from the campground, etc). Plenty of stores to buy firewood, ice, etc. in the area. The most popular trail in the area, Boulder Cave Trail, has changed to being reservation only (and I dont think reservations are available same day online). Gold Creek Station, 5 min north, is a delightful restaurant and they do have wifi (stronger on the saloon side?). No cell service at the campground or anywhere in the area for Verizon or T-Mobile.

First time camping in Washington, had such a great experience here and town was only 20 min away with 3 min away showers and mini stores nearby. Dog friendly and staff was so helpful and friendly!! Bathrooms were clean too!!! Will def come again! The river was few feet away from camp! So nice! And fun!

Great little campground. The host and maintenance person are very friendly and helpful. Sites are small but very well maintained. Wouldn’t recommend anything longer than a 20ft trailer.

Campground was very pretty and has a lot of potential. Our hosts were pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately we left early for several reasons. The sites and campground were well maintained, except for the trees. Our campsite was surrounded by trees with many dead branches, which was a safety concern even without the high winds during our stay. The other issue to be mindful of if you are tent camping is the bright lights that shine into the campsites from 12 and up. Our hosts said it's from a government owned facility adjacent to the campground but the lights are bright enough to illuminate the shoreline opposite the campground. Our main reason for leaving early was the disruptive group of children allowed to stay alone at the campsite opposite ours. They started yelling and running through the campground and our site at 6am, hit our car at one point, and had no supervision from their parents who stayed in a completely different area at the campground. They were progressively worse throughout the day and would not stay our of our space even though there were multiple empty creekside sites they could have used for water access. We understand you don't get much privacy in campgrounds like this but we do expect that quiet hours will be observed and people will stay out of occupied sites.

Campsite was gorgeous, campground as a whole was quiet and well-maintained. Camp host was helpful when we wanted to switch from our reserved site to a nicer one that was not reserved. A beautiful spot to relax by the river!

Good spot, enough for a bigger family like ours. We have 6. Wasn’t by the water however you can access water view through other campsites if not occupied.

Camp site 16 had excellent privacy. Camp hosts were pleasant. Pit toilets were clean and odor free.

It is such a cute campground on the river. Some of the sites are very small, luckily it wasn't full and we were able to move from the one we had reserved. Only bummer was the water wasn't working. It was uncovered but nothing was flowing from it.

Really good spot. Stay out of 15 if the forecast is calling for wind. Go for 13 or 12. 5 is a huge open spot or 6 and 7 are decent too. All the other spots aren’t great. Parks clean. Well kept. No wood for sale. There is no camp host. No river bank to sit on. No swimming hole. So not a lot of traffic. Perfect. No cell phone service. One water service there. Near the entrance. It’s a small park. Sites 1-3 are near the front and very close to the highway. 4 is decent. Worth the money to stay here.

Great shall campground with most sites right on the river. Close to a little so where you can get ice and other stuff you might have forgotten to take. Had a friendly host. Fire wood was expensive. Great for tent camping. Nice separation between camp sites.

Cottonwood Campground was a wonderful experience for my family and our friends. The campsites were clean and most were situated by the river. It was peaceful and refreshing. The camp host was very hospitable and friendly when we had questions. Would definitely love to visit again!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
