Nice camping spots right on the river. Only negative is how close campground is to highway so noisy during day.

The area is nice and we were right on the water. We reserved spots 13 & 14.My only complaints would be: 1) the fine sand....it sucks, especially with kids running around and playing and kicking it up. 2) tons of yellow jacket wasps.... so much so that we noticed the campsite came equipped with yellow jacket traps (that didn't really work). But, we figured out how to distract them for a couple hours at a time. We threw a piece of meat (Bologna or hamburger patty) on our campsite, but away from our "hangout" area and they would eat it. You could literally see chunks disappearing... pretty fascinating . When it's gone, we just added another one. 3) the bathrooms are not the best.. no fault of the camp hosts. People these days are just disgusting. That's about it... but because of that fine dirt, we probably won't be back. Also, if you like to take hikes... there are no trails from the campground. You would have to drive down the road.

Our family has been camping here for 20 years. Still love the campsites and the river access, but the campground is in dire need of cleaning!!!We arrived to our campsites well after check-in and it was apparent it had not been cleaned. Trash, cigarette butts filled fire pit, food remnants. Trash along the rivers edgeNOT COOL AT ALL! This did not help the wasp/yellow jacket infestation. They were really bad this yearactually the worst ever! We literally had to eat our meals in our tents or vehicles.We camped for 4 days and there was never anyone cleaning the campground, campsites as people left, or the vault toiletswhich were ABSOLUTELY UNBEARABLE! All vault toilets are unpleasant, but routine cleaning helps a lot!The camp hosts would drive in each day to put new reservation tags on the campsites as needed and leave. I approached them myself to engage conversation that we were checking in our three sites. They were a nice, very elderly couple, but obviously physically limited for cleaning the campgrounds, or enforcing any campground rules.We were fortunate there were other good, rule-abiding people campers because there were no actual camp hosts residing on site.Really disappointed! I have to assume this is the same for other campgrounds in the area if managed by the same? PLEASE SAVE OUR CAMPGROUNDS IN OUR BEAUTIFUL STATE!

This is a fabulous place for camping with the river next to the sites. We are going back again in a week.

The campsite was nice but the restrooms were very unsanitary and smelled awful.

This review would have been all stars except for other Humans. great spot, nice, right on the river. However we had a larger group come in next to us and use the unused host site. Rude people will ruin any camping experience sadly. I did not have a problem with them using the river, I don't own it, I did resent them assuming that they could put up chairs and simply lounge on the banks less than 15 feet from our campfire though. I would revisit the campground though. And watching the fly fisherman catch and release several fish while having coffee at the fire was a bonus too.

Beautiful campground right on a gorgeous river. The relaxing sound of the rushing water was the loudest noise. The campground was pretty packed and the other campers were astonishingly quiet and respectful.

We camp at Sawmill flat every year for 40 years and love it! This year was good until Thursday evening August 17th. Across from us in site #2 some people moved in, and some of their friends moved in next to them, and more friends moved in a couple sites over from them. There were about 20 or so people total. There was a burn ban in effect and no campfires allowed. They were playing music so loud you could hear it throughout the campground. They also had a large campfire burning. I finally got tired of the noise around 11 or 12 midnight and went over and ask them to turn it way down or off and told them there was a burn ban and that they should put out their fire. They were Mexican and most of them didn't speak English. By morning the campground was taken over, and they had another campfire burning. The day use area had about 20 or so tents and non-English speaking people everywhere. Mexican or South/Central Americans. They were walking through the campground in small groups with backpacks and full duffle bags, also driving through with a few people in the back of pick-ups going round and round the campground, this was 8: am. Not sure what is going on with your campground, but it was lawless. You need a park attendant.

Beautiful and comfort campsite. Spacious sites ideal for families and groups. Located on Chinook Pass where a drive to the top of the pass provided beautiful scenic views of Mount Rainier and the surrounding area ideal for easy hiking or for the avid hiker. We can not wait to go again!

Great location along the river. Our 24 ft trailer barely fit and it can be challenging to level. Mostly quiet with some road noise. Check out the small loop trail across the street at Mather rest area.

The photos of the site are a few years old, so be aware that the area for your tent at this site is now overgrown & on a hill. Other sites looked much better, but this one does not have a great spot for a tent but you can make it work! This campground also had a TON of bugs, specifically ants, & we ended up finding a large ant hill at this site. We also read that there was water at this campground but we couldn’t find it anywhere. The bathrooms are pit toilets, so none there either. However, the site is close to the river & had great views! Overall was decent for our 2 night stay, but probably wouldn’t recommend for a longer trip.

An enjoyable three night stay. Even though we had some rain, it was relaxing, got lots of reading in, watched the Seahawks game at Whistlin Jacks, friends visited for a dinner in the woods on the Naches River. and had a nice bike ride along the Little Naches River. One of our favorite places and only 2 hours from home!

Nice and spacious was close to Walter but not too close. There is a road on the other side of the river so there’s some noise from cars. Lots of squirrels so that was fun to see.

Love this campground. Many sites are along the river and there is a lot of space between sites. Will be back for sure. Tiny hotel down the road has great breakfast.

Due to the fire, we had to evacuate the next morning. But the campground hosts were very nice, but it was kind of late in the evening when they told us of the notice.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
