Host was wonderful. Clean bathrooms at all times. Nice access to nearby parks and Highlands.

Pros- The campground and sites were very clean and shaded.Cons- It is loud. Cars and trucks constantly zooming by so its quite loud and not a very relaxing camping experience. The bathhouse was clean but had so much air freshener that it was an instant headache, you smell for hours after using the restroom and the wind carried the awful chemicals throughout the campground. If you like chemical headaches and lots of noise this is the place for you. We only stayed one night instead of the two we reserved.

Pretty campground. Bathrooms clean but only hot water. In the summer makes a taking a shower a steamy process. The town of Highlands and the surrounding area has grown a lot. The traffic on Hwy 64 is constant making it quite noisy most of the time. Only quite late at night which is kind of a bummer.

We loved the wooded campsite. It was cool in July and we were able to access water for swimming nearby. The camp hosts were very kind and thorough. We did not see any bears, but heard they were around. I would stay here again for sure.

This small campground is so peaceful and beautiful, spending the entire day at your campsite would be a great day. The trails at cliffside recreation area are quiet and underpopulated; its nice to hike in a beautiful forest away from throngs of people.

I was on a solo motorcycle trip, and I tent camped in site seven (007) for five nights in mid-June of 2024. I was very happy with my stay. The campground was not filled up, the restrooms and showers were cleaned every day, and the campground's hosts Mike and Melissa, were exceptional people. They were my neighbors across from me.Most every day, I left on long motorcycle rides, so I can't speak to what it is like there during the day, but the nights were quiet. I was far enough from the main road where noise from traffic, which can be pretty busy during the day, but is nearly non-existent at night, was not that bad at all. Two waterfalls are nearby, and the nice town of Highlands is just up the road a few miles to visit. One day, I took a break from motorcycling, and enjoyed Cliffside Lake Recreation Area that was connected to the campground by a short hiking trail.I would very much like to return again.

Incredible location just 5 minutes from Highlands. Campsites were in good condition with most of them somewhat private. Facilities were clean. Plenty of hiking accessible straight from the campsite or a short drive away. We plan on coming back.

Great hosts! Very clean bathrooms and showers but there are only 2 of each. Road noise in sites 20 and 21. Would definitely stay there again.

Love this small quiet campground. Bathroom had showers that were almost hot. Camp hosts were helpful and friendly. Our 32 ft travel trailer fit fine, but roads to campground are very narrow and curvy. No cell and no starlink due to tall trees. Site 9 would be a good starlink option, next time! We were in site 20, road noise during the day, but quiet at night.lots of pines and rhododendron, I really like this place.

Clean, Private sites! Host was very nice and suggested great trails to hike and waterfalls to see.
@ShalinRBD0AED4 · Camped on Aug 19, 2023 at Campsite #19
Close to main road. Clean site. Clean washrooms and free showers. Almost every site had water outlets.
@EmilyOEE3532BF · Camped on Aug 11, 2023 at Campsite #1
Seriously underrated campground. Each camp site is very private and feels like you are actually in the woods rather than an RV campground. There are no hookups but for short trips in our pop up, this will be our go to spot from now on. Bathrooms are clean with warm water in the showers and the hosts were fantastic! They even had little activities and goodie bags for my kids. 10/10 would recommend- but dont tell everyone!
@LindaG8382093 · Camped on Aug 1, 2023 at Campsite #15
The site was clean and ready for you. The host and hostess were friendly and came by once a day and checked on us. The bathrooms and showers were clean. We love this campground.

Great campground in one of NC's most beautiful areas AND there were bears at camp 2 of my 4 nights there! The showers were nice to have after all the sweaty hiking and the hosts were on top of everything! Will return!!
@ChrisCF871795B · Camped on Jul 20, 2023 at Campsite #13
Great spot and hard working hosts. Only 2 bathrooms is not enough when camp is full. Also trails in cliff side park need trimming. The hosts might advertise for trail volunteers?

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
