Trails were great for a hike. Disconnecting from the outside world was refreshing. My daughter loved seeing all the horses, over all a great time!

This was the best place to camp. The water was clean and clear, it wasnt very crowded. This place was just wonderful, recommended all my friends and familys here. I have straight talk and didnt have service until i was at the four way stop sign. I would come back to this place again!

Gorgeous primitive campground and trail system. Camp host will not enforce quiet time.

The campground was in good shape. We had no issues during our stay.

Love riding here. The trails were a tad muddy but the river is so pretty. Only compliant would be non horse campers taking up a large section of campground

Great horse camp . HorseTrail needs clearing
@EddieC2128773 · Camped on Mar 22, 2023 at Campsite #2
Horse high tie areas need lots of work. Trails need to have rotin trees cut before they fall on some one

Their are about 8 low tie post for the horses.Thesevare very dangerous to tie the horses to.The other sites have the high tie lines for the horses they are great.Please have the low tie replaced with the high ones .Other than that we enjoyed our time there and the host was very helpful

Camp ground clean. However the trash cans were full and they did not pick up! Was there M-Sunday. Also would like to see the hitching/ties at sites like 14 removed. They are dangerous to horses. They are so low and the metal tie ring can hurt a horse, potentially killing a horse. Very dangerous! They put up signs that you had to tie to rack… not high tie to trees! For sure those who make that decision as well as design of tie rack are not horse people!!!!! Would like to see these low tie racks removed. Poor poor not horse friendly design!!!!

I felt the trails were too dangerous for me and my horse.

First let me say that I would rate the camp 5 stars if our camp site/ parking area didn't turn into a mud bog on the second day of rain. The camp restroom and fire pit were perfectly functional for our needs, and the water wasn't too bad. I'd strongly recommend they take the time to haul in a few loads of gravel to redo some of their camping surfaces. Other than that, this campground is awesome and is surrounded with a whole bunch of awesome waterfall hikes.

This place is quiet and clean. The restrooms are clean and so is the camp. Shower house would be nice. Some sites could use some gravel, but overall, with the fishing hunting hiking riding opportunities here it's a full win.
@JustinS268 · Camped on Nov 6, 2021 at Campsite #1
The campsite itself was great, but there isn't a camp host to enforce rules. We listened to multiple generators run all night long.
@JoAnnA324 · Camped on Nov 3, 2021 at Campsite #11
The fire rings need cleaning and also there are areas on the camp site that have holes needs leveling.

Beautiful Horse Camp. Very relaxed and peaceful setting. Very good accommodations for horses. Camp Host is On the Job. Great riding trails well marked. Our Favorite place to camp/ride.

No wheel barrows for haul manure to the manure station. Some of the horse hi-tie areas hold water and become a muddy mess.

This is a great place to camp with your horses. Miles of trails and river crossings. The trails on the SC side of the Chatooga river are well maintained, trails on the GA side not so much! There is a beach type area at Earl's Ford crossing that provides a place to enjoy the river in the heat of the day. Earl's Ford is also a great place to take your horses swimming. The campground is semi primitive with water access between sites and 2 toilet facilities, one at each end of the camp. There is no electric or a bathhouse. There is a large day parking area next to the campgrounds. Overall, it's a great place to camp and ride.

This campground needs a host for me to feel safe camping there. There used to be lot of drive through traffic. The host there now is excellent! He seems to have slowed down the non-camper traffic. Love camping and riding at Whetstone!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
