Very nice campground, we enjoyed our stay here very much. Clean and quiet and easy access to a beautiful lake for fishing. We are already planning our return trip.

Stayed in site 32, firefly. Large sites with next neighbor far away. Across from bathhouse. The grounds were stunning. At night, it is dark and you can see every star in the sky. A gate code is needed for when gate closes. Verizon worked well for streaming and working. Dish captured all satellites. There are 51 accessible trails in the Bankhead Ntp Forest. Not from the park. You will have to drive to most of them, and the trailheads are not clearly marked nor are the trails. I suggest a physical map because you won't get cell service with Verizon on the trails. We visited the Natural Bridge, which was lush and beautiful.

Beautiful place. I wish they would clear the undergrowth to make the lake more visible from the campsites. Great place to ride bikes. Nice level lots with most modern sewer hookup I have ever used.

Enjoyed the quiet place. It rained mostly but we made it work. Saw several beautiful deer.

We stayed on #16 which I booked by mistake meant to get #15 but we enjoyed it none the less. Big yardage just for the 2 of us & our dogs. It was next to the path that will lead you down to the lake with a bench there. We did leave the night before we were to be out, by choice. The rainstorm hit that next morning. Staff are nice & bathhouse is cleaned daily. Loved meeting a new friend "Army" the armadillo & family. Can't wait for our next reservation

We were in Firefly loop. Well maintained and campsites are spaces a good distance apart.

Always a peaceful quiet campsite to get some rest and relaxation and away from normal work routine. Been going to same area for more than 35 years with our children, then the grands and now the greats! Will continue tradition as long as the good Lord lets us.

This is a beautiful campground. We stayed in the "Yellowhammer" loop because the sites were larger and farther apart...offering a bit more privacy. Each site has full hook-ups which worked perfectly. Nestled among the forest trees, most sites had adequate shade. This is mostly an "R&R" type campground to visit, as there is not a lot of things to do nearby. But there's nothing wrong with that. Kick back and relax. The only suggestion I would offer would be to be sure and carry plenty of insect repellent and use it liberally. The chiggers, ticks, and (possibly no-see-ums) were out in force. Good hiking trails. Great place to visit and l will definitely return here when the weather starts getting a little cooler.

This place nickel and dimes you. You get only 50% off camping fee with an America the Beautiful pass, which is normal but this place has an electricity and sewer fee (the only place we've seen this in the 6 years of staying at COE campgrounds). Plus there is a $8.00 reservation fee (this is bull, since you do it yourself at recreation.org). The campground is pretty nice, but the fees make this a racket.

Paved, level sites that are shaded. Plenty of room between sites so you have a sense of isolation. The bathrooms and showers are adequate. Theres only one shower per bathhouse. Little to no cell coverage and no WiFi, if thats important to you.

The campground was quiet, very well groomed and everyone was super nice.

The staff and camp host are very pleasant and helpful. Available to answer your questions or tend to any issues.The park is very wooded, most sites have shade for much of the day. Campsites are very clean and have full hook ups. Some sites are large enough to accommodate a large RV with a toad or a boat. There is an onsite boat ramp area.The bathhouse is very clean and everything worked properly. The paved, one-way road through the the grounds provides a nice place for children to ride bikes or scooters. We camped with 4 grand-children 8 and under. They enjoyed having picnics at our sight, taking walks to find new wildflowers (But DO WATCH for the poison ivy), riding scooters and bike riding to the open areas in the evening to see the wildlife (deer with fawns, turkeys, armadillo with a baby and lots of birds). Cell phone service is spotty (but that doesn't bother me. I remember quiet camping before cell phones).There is no chemically treated swimming pool, however, they is have a huge, clear, beautiful natural pool named Smith Lake. Our grands loved it. My only negatives:The bath house could use a vent fan to help cool them during the evening hours. They can be quite warm and humid in the evening after everyone has showed.Kudzu has started creeping into some campsites, overtaking beautiful native plants like oakleaf hydrangea and native trees. I know this is a national forest, but should we allow a non-native plant to overtake this beautiful natural area?

Clean campground. Nice site. Some water view. Very strict enforcement of parking regulations and adherence to check-in time. Poor WiFi connectivity with Verizon.

Nice campground. Very well kept by staff and volunteers. They seem to take extra time to clean and prepare the sites before your arrival. Every host we encountered was nice and helpful. Restrooms very clean. Nice boat launch area and swimming beach. Highly recommend.

We have stayed here multiple times. We just love the park. It is well kept, very quiet and the beautiful Lewis Smith Lake. The sites are spacious and not close to each other. The bathrooms are clean and not a far walk. Lots of trees for shade, and having full hookups is awesome. We will definitely be back again.

Arrival & check-in was easy & pleasant. Got set up plugged in & turned on air conditioner & power shut off. Turned out the 50 amp plug had problems. We put adapter on for 30 amp & ran on that all weekend. Nice quiet weekend, (other than rain storms) Our group wanted to use the pavilion for our potluck dinner but found it wasn't open till after Memorial Day. (Will have to organize dates differently next time.) Main cons are lots of poison ivy! Plenty of armadillos to keep the pets entertained. Good hosts, (note they are being forced to follow all rules of the parks!) Keep your tags in the window & stay off the grass! All in all a nice stay, we like the campground!
@NancyC3864592 · Camped on May 6, 2024 at Campsite #14
Our weekday stay in YELLOWHAMMER was relatively quiet, except for other campers' barking dogs.A bit of confusion at the check-in gate as we were given an incorrect gate entry code, so we had to hike back to the gate to obtain a code that would allow us entry.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
