Great location and campsites. However, the showers need hot water and updating. It is shamefully that a Federal park looks like this and has such poor facilities.

We had a good time camping there. The only issue was the bath house near our spot was out of order and we had to go to the other side of the loop. Not a deal breaker because I know things happen. All else was very good.

We had a wonderful time at the Halloween Bash. Our kids and grandkids loved truck or treating the campsites.

Beautiful campground with amenities. We stayed in site 21 which has beautiful view of the lake, is completely level, plenty of room around the site. Most sites are excellent. We were disappointed that the bathrooms on our side of the loop were not open, however, it appears they were closed for maintenance. Some of the rules can be excessive, when they say no parking on grass, this also includes gravel/dirt that may not have seen grass since 1987. While I understand the need not to park on the grass, the rule is taken to the extreme here. Otherwise, we had a beautiful stay and absolutely enjoy our times at clear creek. You cant beat it.

The campground is beautiful and peaceful. Our spot was a double and it was large enough for two campers and two trucks. The only negative was the bathhouse In our loop was out of order for the whole eleven days we were there.

This is a beautiful lakeside campground in Bankhead National Forest. Very natural, abundant shade, and a good mix of recreational facilities. It's beautiful, and I visit here several times a year for relaxation. The grounds are nicely maintained. The plumbing sometimes works but has been a bit sub-par for the last couple of years. It's time to call a plumber and upgrade. I've come to expect something will be deficient with the bathrooms... the hand dryer may be rusted out and non-functioning, the toilet may be flushing continually, the shower difficult due to a short flow time on the automatic off valve. Little things, but a bit annoying. Improving the plumbing would make this campground be wall-to-wall 5 stars.

Overall, a very pleasant camping experience. Only problem was the closed bath house due to repairs. Nice spacious lots, lakeside views.

Reservation process online was easy. Local ranger station/visitor center staff was very friendly and helpful. Site was beautiful! Bath houses were pretty good, but the shower heads in both the Men's and Women's functioned poorly. I hope they are replaced by the time we return next year. Also, if the water could be just a bit warmer, that would be great. The Recreation Area/Campsites are about 20 minutes from any eatery, or store in Jasper, but it's worth the drive for a low cost spot to stay for a few days. We'll definitely be back!!

A very nice park. Ample spaces between sites wonderful lake views. Great bike path. All in all a great place to camp look forward to going back next year. Wish was open all year.

Well I had been here may times and never had an issue. But the lady Angel was rude and would listen to wat loop we wanted to stay on. We told her twice that we wanted 4 bundles of wood and gave us 6 and charged for 6. She had a horrible attitude. If she is there I will not go back.

My family and I recently camped here for the first time. It was so nice and clean, the trail we went on was cleared and very easy to navigate. We cant wait to go back.

For whatever reason the right side entrance was blocked off forcing us to go in the out and then do a short right turn into the parking lot to register then do a u-turn in the parking lot to proceed to the campspot. Then we find out the wash house had no hot water for a shower. Not a good experience. We don't plan to come back.

We very much liked camping at Clear Creek. We had no internet, TV nor cell reception but that gave us time for campfires, walks with dogs and just alot of talking to each other. We headed inside from 2p-5p due to the HEAT - had lunch, took nap & watched a dvd in the a/c. Our lot was next to the incoming road but it was no bother at all. Loved being able to hear the boats going down the lake. We'll be back.

Very hard campground to get to. Very steep inclines/declines on the entry road. The Road to the campground is just barley large enough for a Class A rig to fit. Incoming barricade does not stay up long enough for the rig and tow vehicle to make it through (the bar/barricade came down on top of their tow vehicle. The Rest areas were very clean. However, there is only one shower and toilet for each bathroom (1 for men, 1 for women) for the enter loop. You cannot adjust the water temperature for the showers. Didn't see much of the Host/Hostess we only were staying one night. We arrived at 6:00 pm and the office closed at 6:00 pm we met the entry custodian as they were locking up. Because we arrived late and left early we really can't rate the entire campground bad. But because of the issues we couldn't really rate the campground as good either.

Stayed a week or so and enjoyed the peace and quiet, I had no phone service or internet and that made it better. Very nice place to stay in your RV, trailer, tent or whatever you have to camp out.
@KeithB3803481 · Camped on Jul 7, 2024 at Campsite #OAK
Love the camp ground and the staff. Only wish some underbrushing was done in some parts of the camp. One of the curves in Hoot Owl loop is dangerous for cars to see kids on bikes. If it was undercut people could see what was coming. We camp there on site 48 all the time. We have seen many kids almost get hit. Other than that we love it.

Thanks to all our Supporting Members

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
