We love this campsite and go every year. We have been going for 4 years now. This year was a little disappointing. Our campsite was full of dog poop and smelled VERY strong of pee. We spent the first 30 minutes cleaning up the campsite as we would keep stepping on poop while setting up. I understand this is the responsibility of the previous camper, however I would think the camp host would check the sites everyday at "check out" to make sure the site is in good condition for the next camper. Additionally, I cannot even tell you who or what the camp host looked like because I never saw them and felt like the bathrooms were never cleaned while we were there. We will continue to go to this camp spot as we love the area, but we are definitely disappointed in our experience.

Forested, clean and quiet. Bathrooms were clean. Privacy between camps.

We camped at Turlo in summer 2023 and it was clear that there was an attentive campground host. This last time we were there, in July 2024, it was not clear that there was a host, although it looked like there was a camper in what looked like a host campsite. The main thing was that one of the vault toilets in the campground was not attended to and could've used a bit of a cleaning while we were there.

Nice beach area on the river.

Very nice small campground right at the start of Mountain Loop Highway. Everything was clean and well maintained. Sites were spacious and most had good privacy. Some minor noise from the highway but not generally noticeable. Very minimal cell service with Verizon. Site 11 was very spacious with good privacy and well shaded throughout the day. Site also had a short path leading to the river. Would definitely book again.

The sights at Turlo are so nice. All have plenty of space for 2 tents and 2 of them have enough space for up to 4. Very clean and bushes or trees between each space making them very private (except the 2 large ones) and quiet. River access trails on the river sites and a main trail for all. The river is shallow and has swimming pools. Lots of shade. It's a smaller campground, but feel that was the best part. I'll for sure be back!

Great campground. Quiet, clean, with water and vault Toilets. We stayed in site 14, in our opinion, is the best. Private path to river with little beach area to hang out.

easy camping
@Katherine16020 · Camped on May 10, 2024 at Campsite #15
This is a beautiful site on the river. You can see it from the top with easy access to the beach. The camp hosts are the ones from the Verlot campground, which is next door. So if you want firewood, stop by Verlot first or hit up the the nearby general store on your way. The turn into the campground itself is very easy to miss but there's a turnaround area just after it. The restroom is a very good distance (very short walk, but not on top of you) and water spigots on both sides. (This campground uses vault toilets unlike Verlot which has running water.)

Camped late Sep. Rained while there, but it's a beautiful campground. Lots of privacy, friendly camp host, clean bathrooms. Will def go back.

Great location for hiking up the road. Very quiet at night.

It was our second time there this season. As usual the bathrooms were very clean . We chose another campsite than the one we used on our prior trip which we were very happy with and which we will chose next year when we come back . Its very spacious .Closer to the the road than the ones on the river but the noise wasnt an issue . The camp host , Rick, stopped by and checked on us after we arrived. I hope hes there next year .No cell phone service with AT&T but its only 10 minutes down the main road heading into town to get a signal. And the supermarket in Granite Falls -an IGA -is one of the nicest ones Ive been in ,even outside of camping . Excellent dessert selection!! . So if you forget anything its easy to stock up. More expensive than my regular supermarket but thats to be expected. The only negative was the weather. Surprising for the end of August but thats not the campsites fault

Recommend going in August, perfect time if you plan on going in the river. Our spot offered minimal privacy but lots of fun oddities like bush caves and paths if you have small children that like to explore.
@BruceW24312111 · Camped on Aug 6, 2023 at Campsite #5
The camp host seemed to be on top of things. They had our campsite reserved (and clean) and the toilets didn't smell (got to be a first for me). Overall, while small the campground and nearby river was quiet and very enjoyable.

Great Campsite! We picked this spot for close proximity to the city. It exceeded expectations. We stayed in 017 that was a great spot next to the river and swimming hole. My toddler loved playing in the sand and throwing rocks in the river. I liked the flat tent sites, fire pits with grills, multiple potable water faucets. Rick, the camp site caretaker, was friendly and helpful.

Large lot, with a short trail to the river & the park host was really nice. Just having the river access was worth it, it was very nice and secluded. The lot and the bathroom were clean too. I plan to come back next year.

Turlo campground is a clean, well maintained campgound with easy access to the river where there is a nice little beach with a swimming hole. The camp host was very attentive and the vault toilet that we used was the cleanest vault toilet I have ever seen. The campsite we were in was not far from the Mountain Loop Highway so it was pretty busy on Saturday morning when people were heading to the nearby, very popular Lake 22 trailhead. Campsites further around the loop, closer to the river were definitely quieter.
@BruceB5637806 · Camped on Jul 19, 2023 at Campsite #7
Very nice campsite. #7 has lots of shade! Host was friendly and helpful. Nearby activities - wade in the creek which is accessible from the campground, Ice Caves. Go to the nearby Forest Service office for recommendations. Walkable from campsite. The gravel road to Darrington has LOTS of potholes. Prepare for extra time.

Nice clean campground, facilities were well maintained, camp host was awesome, lots of firewood available. Small amount of road noise but didnt ruin a great experience.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
