Beautiful location and very nice flat sites. clean portapotty. easy to park. river is right there. Be mindful of the tunnel height is a maximum of 10'3" with curved sides . our T@B400 trailer is 9' and it just fit through with inches to spare! Could hear the trains, didnt bother us in a trailer.

Port a pottys SPOTLESS and well maintained. Have noticed there is at least ONCE a Ranger patrol car going through the site. Excellent location for a variety of adventures.

It's not often you get to sleep next to the Potomac River. It's hard to beat drinking coffee while watching the river flow by. The trains can be a bit noisy, but it wasn't too bad.

Great place for a camp out with friends.

Great small campground with easy access to the C&O canal towpath. Campground and pit toilets were pretty clean. Compared to prior visits in past years, the place has become a nighttime party hangout for locals, though, thankfully, they left before midnight. Some campers ignore the 10pm quiet hours, and keep their loud conversations going until later, though, again, quieting down before midnight. These same folks also had four vehicles, three tents, and a dozen people staying at one campsite. I guess the campground rules are just suggestions if not enforced by the campground hosts. I love this campground, but will only be going back if I can avoid staying there on a Friday or Saturday night.

A pretty much isolated location so be prepared. The location itself was very wonderful as it was our first visit. Other campers were pretty much hospitable and respectful of space. Areas pretty laid out & clean. Saw rangers on patrol each day during visit and they were hospitable as well. We had a very good experience even with the one storm that passed through.

The views and layout were good, the biggest problem was the fact the train in right above you and comes several times a night. My wife's anxiety was horrible after they would wake her from a deep sleep. Also of note the ranger was very polite and helpful.

Nice site on the river with nice views. No camp host or firewood on site. Pit toilet in the parking lot by the boat ramp. Park rangers drove through a couple times. There was a bit of noise in the evening from people on the river.

I am due a REFUND OF $20. We NEVER got to the Campsite because of the TUNNEL!??? No Access to the Campground.? Ridiculous

Campground was very clean and there was a local police that came through a couple of times. A beautiful spot along the Potomac. We would go back again.

There campground setting is very peaceful as it sits next to the Potomac River. An eagle flew by while I was enjoying my morning coffee! Its a very basic campground which was fine for me but people should be aware of before arriving.

Ive been coming to this site since I was a kid and couldnt be more happy with the upkeep on everything. Plenty of sites that are different from one another, some allowing more sun to come through, others completely shaded, some small and some larger for group camping. They have porta johns along the site trail, and even a spring well pump that pumps water thats as cold as the canal that borders the campground. Theres also a boat ramp for water access! Great place to stay for a weekend or longer and you cant beat $20 a night!

McCoy's Ferry has been a favorite camping spot of ours for 20 years. We have used it to enjoy biking and nature walks along the C&O Canal, but most recetly, to attend the 18th Century Market Fair at Fort Frederick State Park approx. 2 miles west along the canal towpath.

We loved the campground, very pretty and quiet. Just two or three other campers, very nice people. Got a good look at a Pileated woodpecker and a barred owl. The tunnel going in was no problem with our little tear drop. Our only suggestion would be the addition of a sign for the campground at the gate where the road going in forks. Bear right and down hill here, the paved road to the left goes nowhere.

We camp here every year. I don't want to promote it as I like the little secret. If you're looking for bathrooms, showers and other amenities, this isn't for you. This is a campers paradise. Awesome bike trail on one side and and the river on the other. Huge site, secluded. We love it.

Peaceful campground with beautiful views of river and nature! Can't beat the price either (from mid Nov - mid Apr $10/night! Bring water, food, firewood and relax!

No rangers to enforce campground rules. Other campsites were consuming alcohol, playing music until after midnight, and left trash all over the campsites.

Very nice campground very clean porta potty
@JamesR5751753 · Camped on Dec 17, 2023 at Campsite #10
Campground and porta-potties were clean. The campground has not trash receptacles on purpose. There was some transportation noise from aircraft and railroads as can be expected in that region of the Maryland, but there was not road noises in the campground.

Great stay! Our group booked sites 4-6. It was gorgeous on a fall weekend. The bathrooms were well maintained. One consideration is noise from large groups camping nearby- we had small children, so the noise late at night was disruptive (and my guess is they correspondingly didnt appreciate our noise at 7 am when the kids got up to play).

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
