I was last at the campground two years ago and since then it has been completely renovated! All of the pavement for the back in and pull through sites looked only a couple of days old along with the fire rings, Dutch oven stands, and picnic tables. A+ all around. We plan to make it up there three times a year going forward.

Don't be fooled by the name - the campground is actually very sloped, up on the hillside of the flat canyon. The sites were really nice and some of them (including ours - 8 & 9) had amazing views! The pit toilets were really well maintained. We had a great time here! Would highly recommend.

We love it up there, the view the campsite and everything was perfect. Thanks for the visit.

This was an excellent campsite with a beautiful view. It is fairly close to the summit, as well as other activities and campsites. The vault bathroom was very clean as well.

Flat canyon is a small campground paved with only two sites ( 1 & 2 together) accomodating a RV larger than 30ft. We like it because it doesn't fit the big toy haulers with added 4 wheeler noise. There is limited hiking as the one close trail has had no maintenance with fallen trees to navigate and tall grasses and thistle on it. That is a minus. Also our fire pit was filled with trash and cans which we fished out and it was almost full with soil. Obviously there is little maintenance monies allocated for the camp sites. Restrooms were clean. One can Mt bike on the dirt road with limited traffic via highway 3/4 mile access. Although this campground sits well off the highway there is some truck traffic noise. At 9,000 ft it is a great place to escape from summer heat. Reservations recommended.

So quiet, only us and one other camper. Scenery is beautiful, grand kids had a lot of fun on the pine trees using their imaginations. And they had no cell service🥰🥰

The site is not very developed for camping (no level tent pads) however it is of sufficient size to accommodate the amount of people we had in our group (24). The bathrooms where atrocious with urine all over the floor when we arrived and there was only one and half rolls of toilet paper for a group site said to be able to accommodate 50 people. The Forest Service recreation folks came to the site twice during the week we stayed and not once did they clean the restroom or check to see if the facilities needed resupply. There are some dead spruce trees in the site so might want to make sure you stay away from those when setting up. The setting is beautiful and the pond below the site is great for taking kids to catch stocked trout. If the bathrooms where cleaner not perfect grant you but just not urine soaked or the Forest Service at least checked while they where already there to see if the toilet paper needed restocking I would rate this higher. I probably will look for other sites before coming back to this one.

There are a lot of large holes around the campsites due to critters digging, watch your step. I stepped in one an rolled my ankle. It almost ruined my weekend.

Wish there was potable water, but it’s a gorgeous area and our extended family loves using the group site!

I Stayed at lot 10. Not a lot of shade, But it was pretty large, Had a lot of animal holes. had a bit of slope, enough flat area for a few good sized tents (I only had one). Table seat was busted. The other camps are pretty close together as well. The worst part of the location was that lot 10 is in the middle of the area Next to the Bathrooms, so some other campers would cut through it to get to the bathrooms.

The only thing that would fit on site 6 would be a pup tent. It was a horrible site. The campground in general seems fine, but this site was completely sloped. At that point, you are better off sleeping in the parking spot. I can’t stress enough how much a waste of money this was.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
