Great Place to relax when 4 wheelers and UTV are not driving through camps and creating a dust cloud. Sheep have access to the parking area as well.

I grew up on this mountain. So I wanted to bring my grandson's and husband and let them enjoy that mountain. They had a great time fishing at gooseberry. We camped up at gooseberry and it was so relaxing. And they got to play in the snow in July up on the mountain. We went up to cottonwood ridge and I told them how my family stayed up there and we knew a couple of the sheep herders that stayed up there. I would recommend you take your family up there. Your kids get to unplug from the phones and just enjoy nature at its best.

We stayed by the lake which was great. The campground was in terrible shape. Broken tables and garbage all around. We had to pick up trash before we parked our trailer. We stayed for 8 days and should have dried camped instead.

Gooseberry Reservoir is our favorite place. We always catch plenty of fish. We camp right along the reservoir so great fishing is only a few feet away. Camping spots are spacious. It is so peaceful.

We love Gooseberry Reservoir, one of my favorite places to camp. We arrived to find the camp sites filled with sheep, the problem being their dogs. In the past we have had them get in our garbage during the night. This visit we could not let our own dogs out of our Motorhome without 4 large white dogs charging and barking. I tried to discuss the trouble with the sheep herders but they were hard to communicate with and could care less. Luckily later in the day while playing with my dog (he's a talker) the sheep were spooked and ran over the mountain and were not in the camp the remainder of our visit.

Very convenient campsite next to the lake. We did wake up one morning with a herd of sheep in camp and the dogs were in our garbage's.

The well maintained dirt road was the worst. Wash board, ruts and very large rocks. I watched as my trailer bounced all over the place. The website stated you could see the reservoir from any campsite, not true.

Gooseberry is definitely in my top go to places for camping now. It is very pretty, and there is drinking water available a little up the road. There is NO SHADE anywhere available for the camp grounds, so make sure to bring your own. the bathroom is a single co-ed bathroom that is always clean. the road even though its dirt, and the Campgrounds are well maintained. The BIG downside, and I would hope it will be addressed. A lot of random people show up (might just be the weekend) and they just start parking in the campground (I had my personal vehicle and then 2 random vehicles parked next to mine in what i would consider mine or the neighboring campground area ) even though right up the road there is a large parking lot. This kind of defeats the purpose of RESERVING your campground because your sharing it with random people during the day (all day). The other thing that must be addressed is the Cattle Grids on the Dirt roads towards the campground, They need re-level the dirt around them. Any car could easily get over them but they need to be addressed before they get worst.

I have been going it Gooseberry for many years. There are very few amenities except the great fishing and the wonderful scenery, but I hope I can come back for years to come.

We really enjoyed the site and all the amenities. It's an amazing part of the world. It's a way of "getting away," without going that far away. We all loved it.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
