This place was ok, but fair warning, this is privately managed. We had to pay extra per person and for an additional car. Strict quiet hours at 10. This is fine if that's what you're looking for, but we stay up late.

The camp host was kind and greeted us within 39 minutes of our arrival. The campsite itself was infest with bees that burrowed underground and came out of holes in the ground anytime wed so much as make black coffee. We were swarmed multiple times by anywhere from 50-100 bees at a time. We stayed for 24 hours of our 72 hours booked and then left as it was impossible to enjoy even sitting outside of our tent. We are frequent campers and used to bugs and bees, unfortunately this experience was extreme and being unable to even sit outside made any sort of enjoyable camping here impossible.

It's a nice basic camp ground next to the road, and you can hear all the traffic and all the neighbor camp conversations.

It was a bit hot and the site #10 was on a slant but other than that great site. Portable bathrooms.

end of season so kinda brown. table and fire pit on this site was a long ways. not so with all.
@VickieB05EDDF2 · Camped on Nov 3, 2023 at Campsite #6
Quiet campground with large camping spots, solid tables and big deep fire rings that contain fire well and radiate heat through thick steel ring. Restroom out of service, with 4 well-maintained port-a-potties and soap by the water source. The CG drawing with site locations used for reservations is no good, the numbers were dropped on there randomly. 5,6,8 are on the outside of the road, 7 is first inside spot. 1,2,3 are near Paradise Rd. Good CG host.

The campground was nice. The lady was very nice and helpful. Its hard to find the place for some reason the gps took us to another campground and we were lost for one hour.

Lady in charges was so rude couldn't even talk by 10pm we had to be whispering plus bathrooms were so disgusting

Very bad camp grounds, poor location, toilets were unbearable, overall quality was unacceptable

Campsites are very spacious and big. You always see wild turkeys. Crows never disappoint you: will wake you up at 6 am or earlier. Good hikes around the area. Since we had a lot of rain this season, there are so many wild flowers. Loved it.

Lovely campground. Flush toilets were closed but the porta potty's weren't bad. Not much to do in area without driving somewhere. While the river is not far access is limited. Otherwise a nice stop off point on our trip north.

We enjoyed our 2 night stay at Fremont and used it as a base camp to access Channel Islands National Park and Santa Barbara. The surrounding area is beautiful and the campground is small and quiet. The sites are spaced out more than other campground, however there are not many trees to offer privacy. Each site has a water faucet, fire ring, and picnic table. All the sites do seem to have a slight slope as the campground is on a hill but site 15 had less of one. The biggest downside was the lack of access to bathrooms. As of 6/15/23 they were still closed and we only had porta pottys. No sinks or showers.

Small campground but very nice. The sites are nicely spaced apart. There are a lot of mature trees and the camp host was very professional and attentive.

We really enjoyed the lush greenery something that nobody had control over was the weather I would have liked it a little warmer. Considering there's a lot of high grass and holes made due to all the rain runoff I believe they should cut it down as I was twisted my ankle three to four times and going to the restroom in the middle of the night when it's dark or walking around campground it's dark is dangerous

Great campground overall but site #8 was very uneven and had tractor marks all over it. Hopefully it’s smoothed out soon but would still recommend the campground. Close to lots of hiking and beautiful day use area along the river.

The camp host our wonderful. There are two campsites there and the first one I was booked in, The plumbing and electrical were down. So the camp host said that I could take one of the free campsites in the second lot which had toilets and some water. The water wasn’t potable which next time I would want that. Very good deal considering you’re close to everything in Santa Barbara. Pretty trees and mountains. However it’s not an ocean camping site you do have to drive towards the ocean. There is a lake nearby however or maybe it’s a swimming hole?

Bugs and squirrels own this campground, not to mention the mouse that hitched a ride in my trailer and continues to elude capture. Not a trailer friendly campground. If you want to have water in your trailer you need to truck it up that mountain yourself and hope your truck can pull all of that water, or bring a 5 gallon water jug and make many trips. While not the campgrounds fault, the excessive heat has killed everything. Hopes of a campfire faded upon arrival as it was evident that one small ember could have been catastrophic. Spent most of the afternoon and evening inside the trailer with the air conditioner running due to the unbearable heat. Left early and found cooler options on the Ventura coast. Campground was gorgeous in March when we checked it out, but according to the staff- they aren’t open for camping in March. Lake Cachuma is close by, and we did enjoy some time kayaking there. Cachuma offers various camping options with hookups and activities on the lake. Will not be going back to Fremont Campground- ever.

The bathrooms were locked and we had to use the porta potty. That should be made VERY CLEAR on the website at the time of reservation. No host was on location to greet us or to sell firewood. We had to find a campground nearby to find firewood.

Good, large campground. A little close to the road, but road noise was not a problem. Great hikes further in the forest such as Red Rocks trail.

Campsite #2, November 26-28. This campsite was adjacent to parking, other campsites are not and require a short walk. #2 had enough flat ground to pitch 1, maybe 2 tents. There was plenty of shade. The fire pit, grill, and picnic table were well located on the site. Though recreation.gov depicts the site being further from the road, it is in fact DIRECTLY adjacent to the main road. I didn't find this to be a problem as it placed us further away from other campers, the vehicle traffic was lite to non-existent at night, and had a nice view of the mountains. The campground in general had toilets (though it had porta pottys during my stay and the permanent restrooms were closed). There was potable water available throughout the campground. I didn't have many interactions with the hosts, but they seemed pleasant enough. Overall, I enjoyed my stay. It's a simple campground but a good option if you want to be close to Santa Barbra or Lake Cachuma.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
