We have been visiting Sage Hill for years now and we always enjoy our days there. The creek is the highlight of our camping.

The Campgrounds were very clean, it was a great spot and the camp hosts could not have been more accommodating and friendly 10/10

We had the Cactus loop and loved it. We had to let everyone know to Google Aliso Trailhead to find the campsite. Looking for Sage hill didn’t take us all the way. We did have cell service throughout most of the campsite. We were at full capacity and had plenty of room around all of our tents. We had extra shade tents between the trees but had great shade coverage. We were sad to see the river had run dry but luckily had Red Rock minutes away with water to cool off in. It was hot during the day and cold at night. The area was very clean. Three water spigots around the site. The bathrooms were clean. Flush toilets with natural lighting. There were signs for crows so we locked up all food at night and had no issues. Our host was welcoming and answered all questions we had throughout our stay.

Loved Caballo for a group camping site with a bunch of preschoolers. Hiking trail right there, fire pits and plenty of space, fantastic staff that sells firewood and a muddy creek. What could be better? Well the horse corrals were great for them to play on too (and no horsepoop around)

Great camp hosts! Wonderful 3 mile trail with lots of wildflowers (end April). Keep an eye out for rattlesnakes, we're in their habitat.

Beautiful spot with super friendly host. We camped there for the weekend with our cub scout pack of 100 people. Lots of fun, lots of snakes but we survived and came out better for it :)

Camp host Stephanie did an outstanding job in all respects. Bathroom was immaculate and she was very responsive to some minor issues we had. She clearly cares about the visitors and the area.

As of 11/1/21: Bring your own wheelbarrow. There are no wheelbarrows. You'll need to deposit the manure in the dumpster. There are 19 corrals, three of them are huge and could easily accommodate 2 horses. There are two working flush toilets, five picnic tables, and two fire rings. Parking on the asphalt is limited but there is plenty of parking in the overflow dirt area next to the host. The rides are nice but most have quite a hefty elevation climb/descent. Stephanie, the host, is very friendly and comes at least once a day to service the bathrooms. The bathrooms are very neat/clean/tidy. The water spigots do not have threads to attach a hose. There are tons of beautiful oaks in the campground but watch your ankles, there are tons of squirrel holes! Make sure to grab the brochure before heading up the Aliso Canyon Trail, it will tell you about the marked areas/plants on the trail.

This review is on recreation.gov not Sage Hill campground. We paid 400.00+ for a group site and could not attend our 2019 Thanksgiving reservation because of the Cave Fire in Santa Barbra. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/26/us/cave-fire-santa-barbara.html Recreasion.gov refused a refund 3 times.

We ended up having a smaller group than expected at this group campsite but had a blast nonetheless. Lots of picnic table space, water access, and our own flush toilets. We brought lawn type games and had a lot of fun using all the open space. We didn’t do any hikes and the SY River was dry (early Oct) but we had a nice morning stroll up the dry creek bed as far as we could go. I appreciated the rangers stopping by, we bought a bundle or two of firewood from them. Great site for groups, would love to camp again.

Amazing group campsite! However there is no onsite store for firewood.

Great group campsites. We had reserved 2 sites, but only one bathroom was open unlocked. It could have been cleaner.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
