Trip took place in early August 2024. Campground has a nice layout and a good 10-30 meters between sites depending on which site you choose. The only issue I had was with the restroom. I wouldn't have a problem with it but there was someone who got the toilet seat pretty dirty (fecal) and I did have to get that scrubbed off to be able to use it. There was a pretty good amount of flies also that would hover around the campsite but nothing that would be too bad if you were prepared, bring some bug spray so they won't land all over you but they still might buzz around you regardless (plan some off sight activities until nighttime or maybe have some indoor activities as a backup so you can chill in the tent if its too much for you). Overall had a pretty fun time excluding the bathroom experience and would give it an extra star if I didn't have to deal with that. would recommend doing the Boulder Canyon trail that's right across the road or driving up to the Reyes Peak hike for some nice views and scenery. I would probably also say the fly problem might also get a lot better once they get the bathroom pumped out, we just went when everything was undermaintained a little bit and got unlucky with the bathroom situation.

A nice, quiet little campground. All the campsites are good.

The camp was fine, but it was infested with yellow jackets. We had to stay in the tent most of the time, which was a huge bummer. I would not recommend that campground until the yellow jacket problem has been resolved.

Beautiful and no one else there!

Beautiful site for a secluded getaway. However, the door to the vault toilet is warped and hangs wide open. So, the campground is a breeding ground for flies that are attracted to easy access to the waste in the toilet. When using the bathroom, flies emerge from the toilet in droves.

Great campground high up in the mountains. Be careful driving up the road, it's 1 lane and there are a lot of blind turns and having to navigate other vehicles can be uneasy if you're in a bad spot. Definitely not the worst vault toilet I've encountered.

Campsite was remote and very comfortable. Reyes Peak Trail Head just a mile or so up the road. Things to be aware of though, the Pine Mountain Ridge Road is narrow, so take is slow - 15 mph. The campground only has one vault toilet (long droppers as we call them) and needed to be cleaned out. Luckily we brought our own facility. Not the campgrounds fault, but on Saturday morning the wind shifted and a heavy layer of smoke blew in from the Sequoia / Kings Canyon complex fire so we left Saturday mid-day.

Our reserved campground was taken by another group. They refused to leave even after being shown our scheduled reservation

Great camping spot, however the bathroom were quite smelly and full of flies and other flying insects :(

Intimate with only 6 sites, just off a very lightly trafficked road. We were in Site 6, which had great shade and more private as it was the only site on that side. The other 5 are lined up with varying levels of privacy. Pit toilet only. A lot of climbers come through to access a trailhead during the day. If you’re not a climber, there isn’t a ton to do in the area - we just relaxed for a change! A few hikes - one trailhead very close - but look beforehand as cell service is nearly nonexistent. Crowd was overall mellow, respectful during our stay with the exception of one group.

Beautiful campground. Campsites are pretty big and spaced between. No water, bring plenty. Restroom is pretty small, but a restroom nonetheless. I would avoid site #6 as it has a broken bench seat. We saw some birds and deer around the campground. Up the road about 10 minutes of a drive (passing Reyes peak campground) leads you to Reyes peak hike. Extremely beautiful hiking through all the pines. Moderate hike, bring water. And there’s a restroom vault at the beginning of the hike. 10/10 would definitely recommend Pine Mountain Campground:)

The campground is as I remember it 40 years ago. The paved road is a nice improvement from the old gravel access road.

Nice small campground that's kept up nicely. Easy walkable access to a short trail right above Site #1. Walk another 10 minutes down and you'll come to a rock face that has unbelievable views of the entire Los Padres Forest. DO make sure that you call ahead about fires because the rules are always changing. Highly recommend this spot.

A beautiful, quiet little campground with easy access to surrounding trails. We set up camp, went to sleep and woke up to . . . snow! The weather report said chance of rain, but snow was unexpected. It was quite a treat to see the trees and chaparral plants dusted in a light layer of snow. I look forward to coming back to this site.

We loved it! Super secluded and a nice area. Sites are a little close to each other but it still felt private.

Great hosts. Could be a bit more flexible if you happen to be short a few $$, not everyone is trying to skim the system, luckily the offline card reader worked.

Spacious, stable picnic table, appreciate the fire pit and grill. The restroom is dated, needs to be updated.
@LarryT515 · Camped on Jun 30, 2020 at Campsite #5
I would have given it 5 stars, but the pit toilet is really, really old and the wood is starting to rot. It should be replace with a modern one. The campground is really beautiful, perfect balance between sunlight and shade.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
