Cabin 13 is spacious and clean and close to the pit toilets. The surrounding areas are spacious but you cant see the lake well, as there is a group of young pine trees in between. Wildlife is mostly squirrels with some deer around the lake. Our neighbors wer loud and left their trash out and the squirrels got into it:-( Lake Manzanita is super beautiful, so keep it wild.

Cozy and warm. Bear boxes at cabin sites were great. The campground bear bin trash needs a lot of attention. Many do not close and yet are full of trash which of course attracts bears! Maybe tape them off or bring in ones that work!?

We are thankful that we got a place to stay inside the park for one night. Its a wonderful experience staying in the park and enjoy sunset, night skies, star gazing, sunrise, birds chirping, early morning hike around the lake etc.. This unmatched experience of staying inside the park.. can't get it from hotel stay outside the park and driving in just for the hikes.Heres rest of our experience with reservation, details of the site, amenities, service etc.We stayed in T1 site, the Glamping Tent. There was no map and minimum information provided on where to find this site which was disappointing. Location: This Glamping Tent is located on the same loop as Manzanita Lake Camping Cabins and towards the end of the loop, right next to the last cabin on the loop. Reservation: Lot of missing information on the reservation page that only mentions that its a Glampling Tent with one bed.*No picture of the tent provided*Missing map for the site. (How much of work is it to update the webpage this information?)We booked this place just being thankful for finding any place to stay inside the park. We had no clue what to expect and we were thankful that we went prepared with lot of items!Amenities: The following are amenities are not available for Glamping Tent so be prepared: Theres no picnic table, just couple of chairs on the platform next to tent. No campfire ring.Theres one small night stand next to bed but no other storage shelf or table.No propane heating Glamping Tent is $149. We felt it is Overpriced giving a false impression that it is a better one compared to one room cabin that's right next to this site for $76

Our experience in staying one night in the cabin was not good. Cabin itself was solid and substantial. NO electricity, although it appeared to once have electric heater and outlets on walls. The big drawback was NO BATHROOM toilet or water. It is difficult for old folks to get up in the middle of the night and walk all the way to the restroom and make it in time. This was a cabin for disabled people too!The restrooms were run down, no lights. But they were flush toilets and there were 3 cold water sinks. Paying over a $100 per night is crazy for this kind of accomodation.

Didn't realize the cabins were not reserved via recreation.gov like the campsites are. The entire national park was closed because of a wildfire, and the contracted company would not cancel our reservation. We could not cancel it, but could not even enter the park to utilize it.

Lovely bare bones, clean cabin, but bring your own lantern. No outdoor sink at the restroom but good pump for water supply. Nice location for accessing the lake and Manzanita Creek Trail which we did hike. Saw a meadow of Lupines near the top and wonderful refreshing stream.

Location and cabins are excellent including the shower and toilet areas. The store and staff are over the top!! Very helpful and friendly. The 8 bunk cabins with only 1 window were very hot in the 2 of 4 nights we stayed. The mattresses were comfortable.

Wonderful! Comfortable, clean cabin close to the lake- we easily walked our kayak back.Beautiful views, convenient to store!

Great little cabin that was walking distance to Manzanita Lake. Small store sold basics, firewood, and gas. Very nice campground overall!
@BelaVDA10D3EF7 · Camped on Jul 14, 2024 at Campsite #10
The cabins are very nice. However, the campground is run down, needing repairs and general maintenance. No propane heat in cabin - heater would not turn on. No lights in bathroom, bathrooms were very dirty, showers out of service, no water supply for dish washing sink, the tire air inflator at gas station was broken. Campground guests were bathing and washing their bodies at the water spigots.

An abundance of moths in the cabin.

This was a nice cabin along the lake. It was a bit frustrating that rec.gov didnt share the alert that the showers and laundromat are undergoing renovation and were unavailable during our stay. If wed known that we didnt have access to those amenities, we wouldnt have booked it at this time. Also, make sure that when booking that you wait for the confirmation email with details for the lock pad to open the cabins. We booked it on the go higher up on Lassen and didnt wait for further for check in details. There is no service for many miles around and we had to drive sometime to get service to call for our cabin code. Use the pay phones if you need to get ahold of help with the cabins vs trying for service on your cell.

Cabins and campsite were clean. Close to store without being too close. This cabin was a little too close to the bathrooms, which were particularly stinky.All in all, we loved the cabins and will be coming back...maybe to one that is closer to the lake/further from the bathrooms.

Manzanita Lake Cabin: Great Location, Needs Cleaning Attention

When we arrived at our cabin, the carbon monoxide detector was beeping. We immediately opened the windows and went to the store. The employee came to help and found the heater was running. They were able to make the detector stop beeping by turning off the gas at the valve. It was very scary for our family. We left the windows open and were finally able to enter the cabin comfortably about 9-10pm at night with windows open.

I've been staying at the Manzanita Camping cabins for 12 years. For the first half dozen years, the former management company kept the cabins and grounds in beautiful, meticulous condition. Ever since Snow Mountain LLC took over as the concessionaire, the cabins, camping store, etc. have gone down hill. This year we arrived only to find out that the shower rooms and laundry facilities were under repair and, therefore, offline. At the very least, the company should send out emails to visitors ahead of time with updates on the facilities and services.Since Snow Mountain took over, everything had gone into disrepair. The main bathrooms are in poor condition with broken toilet paper dispensers, broken toilets and doors, no working lights, etc. The water and sink stations near the pit toilets were all off line or broken as well. There was no proper soap or usable hand sanitizer (the dispenser in the toilets was impossible to use) for the pit toilets. The fire pits were full of ash and or rocks, and the cabins all had items in disrepair such as broken futons, blinds, etc. It is also clear that this company does not bother to update the cabin door codes between visitors or even between seasons! Lassen and Manzanita Lake are some of the most beautiful spots in all of Northern California, and it simply breaks my heart that this company is not taking proper care of this treasure for all to enjoy. I hope that the Park Service will find a better company to take over whenever Snow Mountain LLC's contract is up.

Great spot, cabins were clean and well set up. Check in super easy and right. Short walk to lake and near-by facilities. Excellent spot to finish up after a day in the Park.

6/25/24 to 6/27/24Bring a mattress pad or two.Showers and Laundry are unavailable in the park.The cabins are very basic. Cabin 15 has a porch with two chairs and a little table, inside a table and chairs and a bed. Outside a fire pit, picnic table and bear box.If you like firm beds that are harder than the ground, it's perfect. The pilot light on the heater causes the room to heat up overnight. Glad it was a beautiful weekend and the whole park was open.

Always a great location for family stay but showers were down and we were not given notification until we arrived. Also, blinds and screens in cabins were pretty worn out. Time to improve general maintenance due to wear and tear.

Great time at the Manzanita Camping Cabins as usual. Many of the hikes around the area were accessible. Chaos Crags was a good moderate hike and there was water in the lake. Spent some time down in Old Station also. Great community of 51 people and finally got to to experience Subway cave. Next year it will be the Spatter Cone Nature Trail.

The main bathrooms were closed so it was a long walk if you needed to go .... showers were also being renovated so you had to drive 15 minutes away if you needed to shower. However, the cabin was very nice - clean and cozy and we enjoyed our stay there.

The cabin is clean and nice. Its very close to the lake. The lake is great! We enjoyed the kayaking and hiking around the lake. The only downside was the showers were down during our visit.

Went mid-June. Expected the roads to be open on the mountain. No, there was no way to get to the thermal features (without driving 3 hours). Too much snow. This wasn't the fault of the campground. What WAS the fault of the campground- showers were closed, laundry was closed, fuel was closed, deli was closed, kayak rentals were closed (an employee had to go home, and there was no back up), heaters in the cabins didn't work (we were provided with portable heaters, thank goodness, it got down into the 30's at night). It was seriously a clown show. Very disappointed in this visit.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
