We had a wonderful camping experience. The highlight was camping under the trees and the beautiful hiking trail around the lake. A few things:1. Previous campers left so much trash in the bear proof food container box. We had to dispose them which was not fun at all. 2. We arrived at night so we could not see where the restrooms were and which ones were open until the morning.

There was a group in the campground playing techno music all night. Other than that it was great!

It has every basic thing one would need for a sufficient camping experience, but the lack of staff, bigger bathroom, and amnesties made this a 3 star

We came here in mid-October, and I knew that the dump station would be closed. What I didn't know was that everything was closed. The store, the bathrooms, the showers, the gas station, everything. All the water was shut off, even the fire hydrants. There is no cell service and the pay phones are shut off. At the North Visitors Center in the Museum park staff are telling people they can get water at the water bottle filling station over at the store. But there was NO water. Why didn't NPS staff know this? There was no camp host and you could not pay using the iron ranger, you have to pay online. But there is no cell service. You have to leave and drive several miles to get service. No way to call 911. All the sites have had tags placed on them falsely labeling them as reserved, and there is a sign at the entrance that says that the CG is full, but online 90% of the sites show available. We overheard some people ask the staff at the VC about getting a spot but they were told by park staff that the CG was full and that they'd have to go online to see if there was an opening. At the visitors center they had an announcement that the cafe at the south entrance would be open weekends until 2pm. We drove there on Sunday and at 1pm they were closed and looked like they'd been closed for days. The tree canopy was so thick in the CG that we got only 1% charge on our batteries from solar and had spotty at best satellite reception. In the CG there are multiple roads but no signs saying where they go. Drive around the park and there are NO signs for most of the park. Nothing to tell you that you are coming up on an intersection. Manzanita was the only CG that had a sign, none of the others even had signs. The one time I saw a Law Enforcement vehicle it was being driven by 2 unarmed park naturalists out taking pictures of wildlife. I did see a Law Enforcement vehicle patrol the campground one time in 3 days but have no confidence that it was an actual Law Enforcement Ranger.

Easy access, clean camping area, clean bench and bear locker.

I love Lassen Park and always enjoy my visits. This last trip felt a little more like remote/dispersed camping because it was post season and not all of the typical amenities were available - but it was still gorgeous and being able to see the Venus Rising against the Northern Lights was spectacular.

I stayed there in a tent campsite over a 3-day holiday weekend. By Sat morning there was zero toilet paper in the latrine.No wash area for dishes. No sign saying where to go so simply cleaned at the campsite.

Site is close to bathroom but not so close that it felt crowded. Only loop A and B open for dry camping but definitely loved this location!

The campground was nice. The bathrooms did not have working lights so it was super dark after the sun went down. We had a reservation this time, but sometimes we do not. All of the sites were marked reserved with no way to know, but to go online to see what was available. We had no service so I'm not sure how you would know what was available if you didn't have a reservation. The camp store was nice but overpriced compared to other stores. We loved the hike around the lake.

As I travel with my dog, most of the parks experiences were not available to me. I know that the prohibition of dogs on trails is purportedly to prevent disturbing wildlife. However given the number of people traveling the trails, I doubt that the wildlife would be any more disturbed by leashed dogs.

We had a great time at Manzanita Lake! It was very quiet and relaxing. We would definitely stay here again.

Site 41 is very good. Close enough to bathroom and drinking water. Enough flat space to hold wawoma 6 and wawoma 4. October is cold at night need to bring heater. Will definitely come back for sure.

Nice campground! Lassen is very beautiful and easily accessible from the campground

We hit excellent weather, the park was beautiful as always. We had to move because of it being late in the year and sections of the campground being closed for winter. The move was easy and stay ended on another beautiful day in one of the most diverse and beautiful NP in California.

Our first time at the park was great. The campground at Manzanita Lake was clean and not overcrowded. Must see is the movie at the Loomis Museum. It did a great job explaining the geologic events for people that don't have a geology background.

Wonderful place, especially in September when it quiets down a bit. Beautiful stars at night, lovely sunset and sunrise views around the lake. Ice and firewood available at the store. Great drives and hikes all around.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
