Odd shaped lot. Parking spot is narrow and short even for sedans. Very close to neighboring site. Pros: close to bathroom Cons: close to bathroom. People constantly coming and flushing toilets. Bathroom isnt lit at night and no sink for wastewater. Campsite is close to Grant Grove visitor center which has wifi

Pictures on Website are not accurate at all. 94 site had no privacy and 90% of trees have been cut down. Restrooms were close by but very dirty. Mens urinal was so dirty and looked like it has cleaned been cleaned in months. No Host at entrance to welcome you.

We had an amazing first camping experience at Sunset Campgrounds site #122. We drove in at 12pm and soon after setting up we were greeted by camp rangers and they gave us the campground rules and helpful tips. Our campground was very spacious and right next to the Viola Falls hiking Trail. The womens bathroom were kept clean but heard the mens was not. The only downside to this campground was that it was really full and people were being noisy and using power tools to cut wood after hours. Overall, we had a great stay and will come back again.

Site 102 is not suitable if sleeping in your car

Nestled near a visitor center, this picturesque campground offers a serene setting for nature lovers. Situated close to a scenic hiking trail leading to the majestic Grant Tree, it provides the perfect base for outdoor enthusiasts looking to explore the beauty of the surrounding area. Site #146 stands out as a spacious, mostly flat, and elevated spot within the campground. With ample room to accommodate 2 tents comfortably, it can easily fit up to 5-6 2-person tents, making it ideal for larger groups or families. Positioned on a hill with only 2 sites, it offers a sense of seclusion and tranquility compared to the sites located below. However, the ladies' bathroom near Site #146 leave something to be desired. With only 2 stalls available, the lack of working lights and hooks for bags can be inconvenient for campers. Additionally, the sinks do not provide any space to place personal items, requiring visitors to carry their belongings while using the facilities.

Great location. Next to restroom and water

Our campsite was on a slope which was not great for the tent. Some of our neighbors were noisy. But otherwise lovely view and scenery. Woud pick another campsite next time.

The campground is clean and well maintained. Spot 67 has a large/long parking pad that was able to accommodate our 16ft tent trailer (23ft open length) as well as our truck. We had some minor issues backing it in to the spot due to the angle and lack of space in front of the parking pad. I would beware if your setup is bigger than ours, but if have a lot of confidence in your parking abilities you might be fine. The campsite is very flat and would accommodate several large tents. There isnt a lot of privacy in this spot since most of your space runs right along the road through the campground, but there is decent shade. You are close to the entrance/exit but that didnt add much extra noise. The flush toilets were clean. There is a kitchen sink located at each bathroom, and there are plenty of water spigots throughout the campground. There are no showers in the campground. We saw deer in the campground and did not encounter any bears during our stay. The Visitor Center is a quarter mile walk and very convenient with a small market and gift shop. This is a great campground to access Sequoias attractions (45-60min drive) and the edge of Kings Canyon (60min drive). Plus you cant beat the sunsets here!

This is a beautiful campground and needs to be better looked after by patrons and park personnel. Not all campground rules followed by some patrons. Safety issuesCampfires still visibly lit/smoldering/smoking in fire pits while campsite is vacant. Camp etiquette loud music played in neighboring campsite that the whole campground could hear until 11pm. Neighboring campers walking straight through your campsite ( without any acknowledgment) to go explore or watch the sunset. All in all please respect the safety and experience of others.We all come here to share this amazing place.

Great spot with shade, water spout right across and close to bathrooms. A few trees of trees, picnic table, fire pit. Was able to hang the hammock, which was amazing. This was probably one of the flatter and larger spots thankfully but there was the tiniest incline when we slept, and would slow a tiny bit even tho it looks flat. All of the sites are very close together. I saw some other sites had more shade but this was pretty great. Would camp here again in a heartbeat.

There is so much nature all around, great campsite, surrounded by trees. I can't wait to go back.

The campsite was large. Really large compared to others I've been to. However there was almost no horizontal space to pitch a tent. The picnic table was on rocks on one side but even that didn't make it level. The only thing close to level was the bear box and the parking pad.

Amazing campground with a bona fide Sunset view! If you camp close to the rim, you get an incredible nighttime view as well of the valley cities below. Sunset is really close to the Grant Grove and its proximity makes the campground a great choice for people wanting a Big Tree Grove experience. I would definitely go back.

We arrived right before sunset and the sunset was simply so spectacular. Toilet is clean and campsite is spacious.

Although site 38 has a pretty view, it is right on top of the site next to it (site 40), with no privacy. Because of this, I don't recommend this site unless you know for a fact that the adjacent site 40 will remain unoccupied.
@ParisaZA697653 · Camped on Jun 8, 2024 at Campsite #46
DO Not reserve this camp spot, this camp spot was on hill, no spot for even a small tent, it was full of ants nest , we saw one of the park rangers and when she saw the condition she agreed that they already had so many complains and she assisted us to book another camp ground but it was such an awful situation

Went with a group of 30 overall we loved this site! Bathrooms were close, we were next to group b and while we could see them within view we had plenty privacy and space between their site and ours. Plenty of shade and the site is enormous. Two fire pits with grills attached. Potable water. Rangers were not there most days but they did check in on the site earlier in the day. It was not crowded in the park and plenty parking for our group and was just a few feet from our site so loading was easy. Plenty of trees surrounding the site so its not like we were staring at the parking lot. We were justOff the highway so sometimes we would hear a car but it was very quiet usually. We saw a bear 20 ft from our site on our last day there! Bear kept its distance. Weather was great- it does get cold in the mornings and at night so pack to stay warm at night. Highly recommend this place for families with kids. Safe and great spot!! Also its a short drive to the main attractions we carpooled in 4 cars and made it lodgepole in 40 mins and it goes fast with the beautiful scenic drive (with traffic or road work- could be a much longer drive ). Psa: -bring hiking shoes (you will not regret it)- use the park map!!- No cell service throughout the entire trip ( for half our group who had att provider but those with verizon were able to make calls. Weird!! )- It truly is the wild and emergencies can happen in a snap- one of our parties got lost for 6 hrs trying to find the campsite with no service and another individual was badly injured and saved by an amazing samaritan who contacted the rangers with their walkie. I so very highly recommend getting walkies or satellite phones some way to communicate with your party during your drive and hikes - SUPER important for safety anything can happen.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
