Axtel Campground, Mcdaniels, KY

Axtel Campground in Breckinridge county is located 50 min west of Elizabethtown, KY with an elevation of 524 feet. There are a total of 153 campsites. The campground is normally open from mid April to the end of October. Sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 16 and 80 feet. All sites are currently reservable. 111 sites have electric and water hookups. Fees range from $18.00 to $56.00. Some amenities include shower, drinking water, dump station, wifi, playground, boat ramp, swim beach, marina, fish cleaning station, restroom, trash dumpster, flush toilets, water sports rental. Activities include boating, fishing, floating sports.

Site 34 has a great view. A little difficult to Navigate a 33 ft class A between trees. Would not suggest staying longer than 3 days due to the difficulty of maneuvering the honey pot from the site to get to the dump station. Site was gravel, rocky, fairly level, nice sunset view with good tree coverage to block from evening sun. Was able to use starlink. Did not use bathroom facilities. No grassy area at the site for dog to use bathroom. 5 weeknights stay.

Water had been drained so no swimming.Campsite too close to some kind of electrical generator that went off day n night. The grass so long our 10 lb dog was half hidden and the sewer drains were placed too close to where the fire pits were.

WIFI hotspot never worked until early evening - could not get up address. When it did work, it dropped signal every few minutes. Cell signal non-existent for ATT, Verizon, T-Mobile. No one man's the entrance Monday to Wednesday, so good luck if you have a need.

We had a great time all of the other campers were very friendly and willing to help everyone out. The park is very cleaning well maintained. We will be back to camp more this year.

Was good until people came in with barking dogs, screaming unattended children. Looked like an 18 month old just roamed around also unattended. The adults were loud talkers!!!! Children road bikes in road darting out in front of vehicles. No helmets no shirts no shoes. I felt bad for other campers. Glad our time was done!!!!!

Activities in the area should be posted or given out on a flyer. Grass is growing up through the gravel on most sites; looks terrible. Gnats and mosquitoes are really bad this year, so I guess they dont spray. Shower heads are old and dont work well in some showers.

A great camp ground. My last site was on the water. Looking across the lake at the lights of others reflecting in n the water and the Sunrise Beautiful. A very clean well kept facility.

We have been camping there for years, it used to be the best, but now the grass is always too tall, trees have been ground up and still in a mound, ridiculous on holiday weeks to be so Anal about parking in the grass, was told boats were ok because not as much contamination from a boat vs a vehicle (joke) plan on still camping there hoping someone wake up and makes it as good as it used to be

Its a great place! Very easy to get in and out of and lots of kids for your family to play with. Restrooms are clean but old. Have difficulty getting an ATT signal or WiFi so dont stake your trip on being connected.

This campground has very little attention.As a camper, we do not have a bathroom in our camper. Therefore we are forced to use a disgusting, unsanitary bathroom. They are probably 45 or more years old and have only been painted. Gross. Not to mention they do not keep the bathroom stocked with toilet paper. The grass is Always a month high the first of June. Family tradition will stop at axtel once the elders are gone. The lady who volunteers at axtel is a kind,well organized person. She worked hard for us and there were 65 of us.

Adam is very nice ranger. We have enjoyed our stays camping. We have tried various sites. Over the 4th holiday - late night fireworks went over quiet time. The dock marina at the Lodge needs some TLC. We climbed the path but it was a challemge. Love the area
