Booked site online and received confirmation. After traveling 500 miles, We find someone is in OUR SITE! It was hot and needed the electric and water hook up. We chose to take the high road and have camp host change us to another open site. NO CAMP HOST ON SITE. Plan B, call 877# and got another site WITHOUT WATER. Where do you FILL POTABLE WATER in this campground? We had to cross the dam and get water at that campground! Customer service was helpful but what a pain in the buttock after a long day of driving. We left before dawn to put it all behind us.

We spent the week there site 20. Enjoyed the park very much. Nice Shady sites available. Showers house well maintained and sparkling clean. Internet reception lighting fast. We will be back.

Fortunately for us, the weather was wrong and it cooled off with some rain. The trees are incredible and the bathroom/showers were spotless! We liked that there were separate rooms for bathroom use. Water hook-ups were a plus. Unfortunately, we were unable to see any TV channels. Playing table games, grilling and using the fire pit were all wonderful. We also liked that the road was paved and that made it easier to walk to our friends camp site. When booking a site, there were practically no available sites. However, once we got there, almost all the sites sat empty the entire weekend.

What a beautiful place this is. We loved the untouched beauty and quiet of John Redmond. We were right on the river in a nice shaded spot. The shores surrounding the reservoir are loaded with all types of birds and native flora. The campsites from 19-26 are spacious with a mowed path that runs between. We can barely see the next sight from ours through the trees. If you are looking for a more recreational place this may not be for you. This is primarily a hotspot for fisherman. There is no marina. There were a few kayaks on the river but otherwise very quiet. We did have to pick up some trash when we arrived. Beer cans and other drink containers. A bonus is that you can scavenge kindling and firewood. There is a lot on the surrounding grounds. This is not a manicured site. But we enjoyed that. If you camp here make sure you visit Otter Creek. The shoreline is open and beautiful. One night we visited it at sunset and the quiet was deafening. I havent heard quiet like that in years. The next night we visited there was a strong breeze coming in toward the shore and it reminded me of standing on a beach by the ocean with the waves coming in. This will definitely be a place we visit frequently!

The camp host, Craig, was friendly and informative. The staff at St. Charles Parks, Beacon and Laura, were VERY helpful. The pad was clean and large and all our neighbors were polite and quiet. The train was LOUD. The pump near our site, #7, was also pretty loud. The porta-potties were well used and might need a more frequent pumping on weekends. We felt fortunate to have access to the creek and the mighty Mississippi and the Katy Trail.

The site itself was in fairly good condition, with the exception of the 50 amp leg of the pedestal was not working at all. The 30 amp side of the pedestal caused the breaker on the camper to go off multiple times. We notified the ranger and he was able fix the problem with the 30 amp, but not the 50 amp. The firepit was full and we had to empty the ashes before it could be used. There is a dead tree on the site that dropped a limb on our tent during the middle of the night. There was a water leak within the park so water pressure was a little low. The grass had been freshly mowed. There were lots of woodland creatures. We were visited by racoons, deer and squirrels.

Beautiful area tree's around the campsite for shade, away from the rest of the campers. First time for the grandson camping he loved it.

This spot is one of the few pull through spots with a generous amount of space. There is also a close water spigot. The showers looked clean and new. I had no problems connecting using Verizon.

Location needs more staff to support the site cleanup of large sticks and small limbs. The bathrooms had signs posted about a cleaning schedule that did not exist. They were only cleaned on Friday. Large trash dumpster was full all weekend.

For scheduling, Riverside West should be open through October instead of September, which is too early for closure.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
