Only issue we had is the amount of poison ivy growing in the driveways. I booked 31, 32, and 33. 32 was the main one with the issue. Still had a great time and the park ranger and camp hosts were super nice.

We originally attempted site 26, which on the map looked like site 25. Site 26 is not on the water, but placed tight across from 25 and a little steep. We tried out 27, the first in a row next to the woods. It turned out to be a great campsite.

Our site was clean, spacious, and quiet. Had a nice view of the river as well. Loved the drive getting to the site once we were in the park. So looking forward to our next stay!

Site 42 is a great site at the very end of a long row of campsites. It is a very large site (looks like it used to be part of a buddy-site that has been re-made into one site). Nice view of the river.Because of location, the back-in is straight and super simple.Biggest downside of this specific site was the placement of the power and water on the wrong side of the rig. We used our extension and went under our rig to hook-up to the electricity. As we were only over-nighting, we didn't bother to drag the water hose underneath to hook up. Probably wouldn't work with a fifth-wheel or bumper pull, but someone in a Class A, B, or C might be able to PULL into the site to get hook-ups on the right side of the rig. The site is certainly long enough to do so.Campground layout is a little strange.

We liked the privacy of our camp site, HOBO 27. The nature trail was nice. We are close to Coffey County Fishing Lake too, fo those who like to fish.

Site 5 was OK. Like the pavilion cover over picnic table. Easy site to back into. View of river below dam. Lots of Birds to watch on both water and land.

We stopped here for a night while driving across the country and it was one of our favorite sites! Right next to the river of a Dam and close to a nuclear power plant it was a cool site to see engineeeing marvels. Pros: - The site was level and the picnic table was clean and well taken care of. - The water spout had some of the best water we had on our trip! At first the water came out brown and dirty but after rubbing it for a couple seconds it was clear and amazing. - Site 25 has access to its own private beach which we could look at the dam during sunset and sunrise. - We didn’t use the fire pit but it looked nice, plenty of kindling to collect as well! Cons: - The river didn’t seem clean enough for swimming as the nearby dam must move around the dirt form the bottom making it murky. - Due to the light posts around the campground and the lights on the street over the Dam there was a bit too much light pollution to see all the stars we expected to, but there we’re still a lot!

Nice quiet site along the Neosho River.

Wow, I don't know if it was because it was early in the season or because it was Easter Sunday, but we had the entire campground to ourselves Sunday night. What a beautiful spot, right on the Neosho river. We saw pelicans diving for fish and found mussel shells near the water. I love that each campsite has a covered shelter area. Made it nice to get out of the sun (and the brief morning rain!). Pit toilets and shower house were clean and stocked (although you have to bring your own soap). A little bit of highway noise, but not too bad. Lots of animal sounds to make up for it! Would definitely camp there again, although since it's right on the river, I'll likely keep it to shoulder seasons of spring and fall to avoid ticks and mosquitos. Did find a couple of ticks crawling on us and a few attached to our dog, but overall, no worse than expected. I only wish check-in time was earlier in the day. 6pm is pretty late to get started, and we had to head back by noon the next day. I think a 2pm or 3pm check-in time would be much better, giving more time to set up and enjoy the evening rather than rush to set up before dark.

Site we reserved was an extreme slope and could not level the camper. Campground map also showed it on the other side of the road ( wanted to be next to river). Luckily we were able to switch to a neighboring site that was not occupied.

Only complaint was the bathrooms. Though a schedule was posted on the wall indicating that the restrooms were cleaned Mon, Wed, Fri and Saturday they were not. I realize it was the end of the season, but I still had to pay to camp and had to abide by the rules. Why then weren't the cleaners monitored to make sure they were providing the service they were being paid for by USACE. Unfortunately the host was there so seldom I was never able to ask why the facilities weren't being maintained. LOVE your parks!

always love coming here. we had campsite's 40 and 42 reserved. campsite #42 is completely missing a roof over the concrete slab/picnic table area. we chose to go with campsite's 40 and 41 instead. each of these concrete slab/picnic table roof sections were about to fail as well. extreme wood rot all around. the nearby vault toilet is fairly new. they need move the task of replacing concrete slab/picnic table area rooves up on their to-do list.

Very light traffic area with campsites that had ample space between each site. The outlet water gates provide a background noise that provide "white noise" for sleeping if you are not too close to the dam. The grounds were well-kept and we really liked the overhead cover for each picnic table....that was a big plus. Lots of bird activity with the running water of the Neosho River. The campground was well monitored by the Park Rangers and the experience was very comfortable....I would recommend this site to those who are seeking a get-away from action. Take a drive to Riverside East prior to booking so you can choose a site for your needs.

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
