Howell Station Campground, Pella, IA

Howell Station Campground in Marion county is located 1 hr east of Des Moines, IA with an elevation of 702 feet. There are a total of 135 campsites. The campground is normally open from mid April to mid October. Sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 49 and 93 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. All sites have electric hookups. There is a fee of $22.00 per night. Some amenities include shower, dump station, playground, boat ramp, amphitheater. Activities include biking, boating, fishing, hiking trails, floating sports.

Howell is Always a great place to camp. Lots of room. Level sites. Only bad thing is the rule change this year of having to be gone by noon. When a family cant get there till after work on Friday and you have to be gone by noon on Sunday its like tou get 1 day of camping. Thats not right

As always, the rest rooms are nice and clean. The firepits are clean and there is always firewood available. The Hosts and all the maintenance workers are friendly and attentive.

Weve camped at Wallashuck and Howell station this summer. Were leaning toward HS as our favorite because we like to park along the outside rows close to the trail so our grandson a can ride his bike. Weve enjoyed those parks cuz you have lots of space between sites. The Only negative is cell phone service (US Cellular) sucks I know youre supposed to be enjoying the whole camping & nature experience but sometimes you need to be on your phone. I wish something could be done about Wi-Fi or cellular towers. I also noticed that instead of having just one big shower in the womens bathrooms at Howell they did divide them into 2 stalls. Which is a lot better to accommodate more people. Thanks to all the Camp Host that keep the parks clean. The people at Howell were very friendly.

Howell Station is a beautiful clean park at Red Rock Lake. We camped somewhat off-season so were able to secure a waterfront site and sit and relax watching the pelicans and seagulls work the river for food.

beautiful campground on the bike trail. Very large campsite. Clean restrooms. Water needs to be hotter for showers but otherwise can't wait to go back next season.

Campground is beautiful, however, VERY disappointed in the noon check out time on Sunday as it does not allow for the morning and lunch to be enjoyed before being pushed out

We have always loved camping at Red Rock Lake Howell Station. The sites are clean, and the restrooms are always clean. The volunteers are so super nice. Willing to help you.

We always have a great time at Howell Station. We have been coming there for six years. We love it. It is always taken care of and all the workers are friendly. We will be back next year.

We absolutely loved this campground. The spots are huge. The entire campground was very clean and well maintained. There are 4 dump stations. There is a very nice paved bike trail.

Big campsites with large trees but not much privacy. Clean bathhouse. Just wish there was water hookup

This campground has the cleanest rest rooms of all the Corp campgrounds we've ever stayed at. The hosts are fantastic.

Spacious and level camp sites, great bike trails. Beautiful setting with many eagles. hawks, and herons. River fishing was good but required walking over large rocks to get to the water in most places. This was our first trip to Red Rock, and we will certainly be back.

My only complaint is that I really dislike the new checkout time. We as a family love to eat breakfast together. Then we visit all morning one last time while making a nice lunch. However with the new checkout time we have to rush breakfast and no lunch as a family. Which for us is the whole point of camping. Spending quality time together as a family.
