Fantastic campgrounds. Very clean flush toilet restrooms, nice creek that runs through the campground and very close to the Gem Lake trailhead. Toms Place down the road doesnt seem to carry firewood so dont waste your time there. Camp host sells it for $9 and Bishop is 20 minutes away for anything else you may need.

We loved this campground. Very clean and so beautiful. Perfect for our kids. We would absolutely come back!

We went end of Sep to the start Oct. Weather was not too hot, it was bearable day and night. Campsite is gorgeous and extremely well kept. Cleanest restrooms. Lots of privacy in campsites. Must see, Convict Lake. Under 20min drive. Kayaking is a must, the water is turquoise and the view is breathtaking. Also kayaked Twin Lakes in Mammoth, about 35min away. That lakes view is beautiful but water is very plant filled. Recommend Lake Mary instead. Make sure you have a reservation if you're passing through Yosemite. It'll be a longer way around the mountains.

Site was great; no issues with our neighbors. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked. When you use the restroom, I recommend that you bring a headlamp/light; the timer for the bathroom light may expire before you're done.

Spacious tent camping sites, flat, sandy ground. Restrooms with flush toilets and sinks. Convenient to 395 highway, but very little road noise compared to Tuff Campground across the road. Small store and restaurant is a short walk away at Tom's Place. Less than half hour from Mammoth or Bishop.

Very nice campground with lots of trees and boulders. Quiet and peaceful too.

Since it was late in the season, we loved the sun heating up the camper in the mornings. A canopy for over the table and bear locker is a must, here (#80), no matter the season. There's shade around edges of site that we migrated with throughout the days we weren't out and about. Wonderful place for when temps aren't too high. Clean bathrooms, nice camp host, creek sounds... felt quite private which is testament to a good layout for this and nearby sites. Not the easiest to back into, but it may well have made it more private. We were extremely happy here and were surprised and pleased at our Verizon service. (Worked online using phone as hotspot an hour or so on two different days - no stress) We will definitely be back!

The campsite was nice and the bathrooms were clean. The only issue we observed were many of the campsite were not level. They weren't bad but if you have a camper or van you'll need to bring leveling chalks.

CLEAN camp ground all around...flushable toilets, and the reservation process for all of RECREATION.GOV, is excellent camping sites range from very large, to a one person site.... very friendly camp managers

I loved the expansiveness of our campsite and the element of relative privacy from the adjacent sites. The facilities were well maintained, the camp host (Steve) very kind and cordial, and the nearby creek provided a nice soundtrack.

Steve, the camp host was very helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The campground was well maintained. We were pleased that other campers were quiet, no loud people or music. We look forward to our next visit.

This is my second time camping here, and it never disappoints. The site is always clean, the restrooms are well-stocked (though you need to bring your own hand soap), and the water is always working. Neighbors are respectful and mindful of quiet hours. I've never had issues with bugs, even when camping in late and early summer. Although the site is close to the highway, the noise is minimalif anything, you'll only hear the nearby creek. It's also a great midpoint between Mammoth and Bishop, where you can explore plenty of outdoor activities. The best part? The stunning stars at night. Also if anyone was concerned about sleeping in their car at tent only sites, its allowed, for whatever reason some campsites dont allow it. (Site 60 and 47 are nice and shady!)

Nice campground! The bathrooms were clean with flush toilets. The camp host was friendly and took care of things. Lots of rocks, so tent placement was tight and care was needed not to trip in the dark. But I would definitely stay here again. Quiet and private sites.

Have been camping here for years. Love the quiet, having flush toilets and running water available. Sleeping to the sound of the creek is incredible. Camp hosts are lovely and most of the other campers quiet and respectful of nature.

Check out this video to see an overview of the campsite: https://youtu.be/2eInGHi9PvY. My husband and I were super happy with this campground. They have flushable toliets and running water. The restrooms were very well maintained and clean! Although the light in the restroom sometimes doesnt automatically come on during the day, it worked well at night. The campsite is big enough for you to walk around if you want a little exercise and a creek is nearby. Its also really close to Lake Crowley and mammoth lakes. Since its at a higher elevation, I felt slightly short of breath but it eventually resolved. We have T mobile and had no issues with service. Would definitely go back again!

Clean camp grounds.

Large space but lots of rocks. Close to the creek and restrooms. Had a good experience, aside from having trash and a few piles of dog poop at our site when we checked in.

As good as it was we had difficulty in the rest rooms. The light sensors didnt workin the restrooms. Motion turns the light on but the light goes off and its dark and wont turn on again. Very annoying. They need to be replaced or a different system is needed.

Even though I was not able to book one campsite for a whole week, I managed to secure three different ones. I appreciate that the mosquitoes are minimal and can be altogether avoided at most of the sites. I also like the location as it allows different options for climbing (ie, Mammoth, Rock Creek, Sherwin Plateau, or even Clarks Canyon and/or Bishop).
@TatianaGCFCB29 · Camped on Jul 3, 2024 at Campsite #12
Great camp with very spacious sites. Didn't feel crowded even on 4th of July weekend. Well maintained. Some sites are close to the creek and you can hear the creek. Close to everything in Mammoth.

Had site #5 with a small RV and van. Campsite barely fit both vehicles. Other than that the site was clean and free of litter and micro trash. Water is readily available across from the site. Nearest restrooms are 4 sites away and very clean. Picnic tables are now concrete and very sturdy. Glad to see $ being put back into the campground.

French Camp is a pleasant campground, close to so many recreational opportunities. A must-do is the hike on the Little Lakes Valley trail up Rock Creek Rd. I would advise to choose your site carefully and read the comments for each. Some of the sites are not very level, or are quite short. Site 17 worked out very well for our small trailer, and offered pretty good privacy from neighboring campers, and close proximity to a bathroom. The bathrooms were very clean and well maintained. Flush toilets and sinks!
@DavidH4978786 · Camped on Jun 22, 2024 at Campsite #4
Campsite clean with table and bear locker wiped down. New picnic table was awesome. Rock Creek a very short walk for a mellow creek side experience. Easy drive to Rock Creek Lake to escape mid afternoon heat. Less then a mile to Tom's Place which has everything including Restaurant and Bar.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
