Loved this campground !! So beautiful, access to many many hikes and lakes, and running water in the bathrooms. Will definitely be back soon

Amazing campground tucked between two mountain streams with easy access to some equally amazing trails up to the alpine lakes.

Such a wonderful campground. We always love staying here. Unfortunately on this trip it was marred by the stupid actions of drunken people. Due to their actions our favorite and beloved bear was killed. He was euthanized not because he was a bad bear but because of the actions of these campers. The camp gives each site information about bear safety. Apparently they did not read this information. Such a sad situation. If you want to camp here please know you will encounter wildlife. Know what to do to protect yourself and the animals. If you plan on drinking and not being throughout go somewhere else.

Beautiful campground, but site 59 is too close to the day use parking area.
@NigelD478C6EC0 · Camped on Aug 19, 2024 at Campsite #17
Overall a nice campground, but tent camping was definitely made harder by the consistent visitation of the bear that frequents there. He only ate a box of our cliff bars, but prepping and eating meals was always on edge. I'd say if you're tent camping here, make sure the meals are simple and quick to avoid that issue, and definitely be very bear aware and make good use of the bear box.

I loved this campground and accessibility to hikes
@TomG1587676 · Camped on Aug 19, 2024 at Campsite #11
Site #11 is not the best site we've been at in at this campground - out tent was pitched very close to the road and was lit up by the headlights of every car that drove by after dusk. And every car that enters Coldwater campground has to drive by site #11 to leave the campground.

Beautiful campground. Clean, quiet and exactly what we needed.
@MariaB3389571 · Camped on Aug 18, 2024 at Campsite #54
Beautiful campground, clean, friendly host. Only drawback is that I suspect that some people are not careful with food storage or that they feed the bears. Hiking trails next to the campground.

Great spot! Tent campers - great flat spot for the tent, great fire pit, great picnic table. Could hear the creek from our campsite. Bathrooms were as clean as all the reviews noted - sparkling! Camping spots were more spread out than other places - a good thing. Firewood prices were the same as at the local grocery store and there was plenty on hand. Would absolutely come back again to camp. Campsite host is awesome.

This was our 3rd Summer camping in Coldwater Campground and once again we had a wonderful time. Camp hosts Keith and Kathy were on top of everything including clean campsite on arrival, warm greetings, and cleaning of bathrooms multiple times a day. I can't say enough about Keith and Kathy, they certainly make the stay better including bear alerts and safe distance viewing of these amazing wild animals. We are already looking forward to next Summer. Reminder and request to all visitors, please keep your campsites bear safe securing all your trash, food and other scented items that the bears will get into. Also, please respect these wild animals by giving them adequate safe space to roam through their territory with minimum human interaction. Victor RIP and thank you for letting so many of us safely experience your presence.

Stayed at site 31. Someone in the reviews said the driveway was too steep to car camp but I disagree, it was fine for me. The bear, however, is a problem and we did have a close encounter with him. Would watch out for that and keep things locked in the bear locker.

Cleanest campground Ive been in since the last time I camped here. Stayed down in Twin Lakes campground the rest of the week which was very good too but Coldwater is the bomb. Quiet, clean and very roomyno campsite next to my tent window.
@ArjenB5A1E613D · Camped on Aug 4, 2024 at Campsite #59
The campground is beautiful but our site (59) was right next to the parking lot. That did not show in the photo. I had the idea we were camping in the parking lot. Took quite some of the fun away.
@RobertB6182770 · Camped on Aug 3, 2024 at Campsite #64
Very clean campground! The camp site was clean and the fire pit was cleaned out. You could tell the camp host cleaned up prior to our arrival.
@AngelH913E4AA4 · Camped on Aug 1, 2024 at Campsite #39
Camp spots are nicely spread out to give everyone enough space. Plenty of access to water, bathrooms, and trash cans, we did have a bear that did not want to leave the campground but the host were kind enough to show the bear back to its side of the mountain.
@HeatherN778865 · Camped on Aug 1, 2024 at Campsite #64
Clean bathrooms, informative hosts, close to lakes and town but watch out for Victor the bear!

Coldwater is a beautiful campground with amazing trails just steps away.
@JamesonMC77E8A · Camped on Jul 27, 2024 at Campsite #49
Highly recommend Coldwater Campground. The camp hosts Cathy and Keith were fantastic. Each day they would clean and prepare recently vacated sites for incoming visitors. Bathrooms were well maintained (flush toilets) and cleaned multiple times per day. My only complaint (which I dont think can be remedied) was that many people heading to the day use trailheads at the south end of the campground would drive through camp too fast. Be warned, LOTS of bear activity in the morning and evenings, so be diligent storing your food properly.
@HeatherD420628 · Camped on Jul 22, 2024 at Campsite #30
We had a wonderful time at site 30 that backs up to a beautiful creek. The campsite was quiet and peaceful but still close enough to food and shops. We will definitely come back!

Beautiful location! Great campground with clean toilets. Loved hiking to the nearby lakes.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
