What a beautiful spot! We enjoyed being on the Mississippi River. We took a short walk down to the dam area. Lots of bird activity in this area. The camp spots were excellent. The facilities were nice and in working order. Definitely will be back.

We came to the area to ride bikes. The campgrounds was on the Great River Trail--it was wonderful to leave the campgrounds and be on the trail! The evenings were great with the sunsets on the river.

Nice spot. View of a river partially blocked if you have campers on neighboring sites. Potable water right at the site.

This is our favorite campground when visiting back home. The park is very well maintained. The hosts are super friendly. The location is great for easy access to shopping on both sides of the river. We camp here in the spring and fall.

It was exactly as I expected. Self check in online after a quick off season drive around the camp to select the perfect spot. It was an impromptu reservation but enjoyed the one night off season very much. Would recommend to others. Noise from train was expected.

Making the reservation was a very good experience. Communication from recreation.gov before arrival was very good.When we arrived, the campground volunteers met us with smiles and were happy to see us. They provided easy to understand instructions to get to our campsite and about the campground. After we got settled into our site they stopped by to check on us. The park rangers were very visible several times throughout our stay and were good people. This was our first time here, but we will be back.

Always a pleasant experience from the positive attitude of the Rangers, Hosts and current campers. Watching the activities on the water, the water fowl and the barges passing through the locks is relaxing. (Maybe I should lie and say its the worst so people arent tempted to visit and I can always get a site ha ha!). I visit several times a summer! Hope to meet you there!

We stay here often. Convenient to I-80. Clean, and well-kept and the campground hosts are always pleasant and helpful. River views at sunset and just off the Great River Road.

Very conveniently located for an overnight stay on our way west. The view of the dam and river were great. Will make it a point to stay longer on our way back through.

Excellent campground. We were on site 30. It was a concrete pad and was very level. The campground was quiet and consisted of two loops that made a nice little walk. The bath house was conveniently located and very clean. The area was quiet except there was one train that did go by one morning. Right at the entrance to the campground you can access a paved bike path. Verizon service was very good I was able to work remotely from this site.

Very nice small COE on the Mississippi River. Our site was very nice with a grassy area. There was alot of road noise but couldn't hear it inside our rig. We were only there one night.

What a great place to stay. We stayed 5 days at the campground and it was one of the best vacations we have ever had. The camp hosts, mark and Jean were wonderful. They even showed us around the area on a bicycle tour. The bicycle paths were some of the best I have ever been on. They take you through woods and cities, all paved and in great shape. You can take the channel cat water taxi across the river, to another state and they also take your bicycles. You can jump on and off as many times as you wish for the day pass. It was great to get off and have lunch and get back on and off again to visit the John Deere Musuem. There are several different bicycle paths and I will be going back to explore them all.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
