Missing the 5th star because it was a little cramped and loud. Campground was easy to find. Sites were well marked. Pre booking on the website was nice. I arrived around 2 am and was able to find my spot easily, and it was marked as reserved for my geoup. Super convenient. Site 10 had a nice picnic table and a heavy duty fire pit with flip up grate for cooking. Some sites looked like they had electric. There was a water tap and a pit toilet.

Great campsite with plenty of space. Not too many sticks or rocks so tent was no problem to pitch. Nice fire ring and neighbors were polite and never too loud. Beautiful area and right down the road from Lake Superior and only 20 minutes from Pictured Rocks! Would definitely camp here again.

This rustic campground (fire ring and canister toilets, no hook ups) is superb. Toilets were very clean and the camp sites have plenty of distance between them - with plenty of tree cover. The songbird trail is worth the hike (about 2 miles I think). There are interactive headsets available, but I didn't use them. There are several "first come, first serve" sites; the campground was not even close to being full the week before Labor Day. There is a drop box for sign up/payment. Definitely a great spot.

Great spot by the lake... further away from other campers than many other places we have camped... huge site with nice area for our tent. Beautiful woods.

The spacious camping site was clean, the fire pit empty of ashes, dIt was quiet all of the time I was there, and the overall condition of the campground was very good. I especially appreciated the helpful service that the host provided when I needed it. I would recommend the campground to anyone wanting to use a forest service site.

Beautiful, quiet, extremely clean and well maintained campground! Park Host, Sal, is fantastic and we really enjoyed chatting with her in the mornings. Shes extremely knowledgeable! The restrooms were exceptionally clean and the camp sites were spaced out well to provide privacy. Looking forward to visiting again!

Nice sites with plenty of space between neighbors. Lovely quiet at night listening to frogs and birds. The restrooms were kept very clean.

Very nice clean campsite. The pit toilets were immaculate. We really loved this, being a remote camping area. Host was visible and friendly.

We stayed at Au Train Lake Campground in the Hiawatha Forest, and we are beyond happy with our choice. The site was cleaned up & a very large space for all our camping supplies. The scenery was absolutely stunning! Never ending forest of tall trees & peaking sunlight. We had a very short walk to the lake, where we watched the colors in the sky as the sunset. We stayed in site 31 and we felt the seclusion of the location made it even more peaceful. The campground as a whole was quiet and everyone respected their neighbor. The bathrooms were very tidy & well stocked. There were trails within walking distance & a very short drive to Munising! We will definitely camp with Au Train again!

The campground and facilities are kept extremely clean. There are no showers, but they do have two spots for drinking water. If youre looking for a quiet camping spot With clean toilets, fire pit and picnic table, I would definitely recommend staying here.

Camp sites were spaced out great and we had a beautiful sunset overlooking the lake. But the mosquitos were really bad and no firewood at the campground, so make sure you grab firewood on your way in.

Host was amazing and very willing to fix up the campground and beach in anyway we saw it needed. I grew up here as a child and now I'm back with my children. We had a great memorial day weekend with family and friends and will definitely be back.

We loved our campsite! It was private and quiet and had tons of trees. Clean toilets and nicely cleared campsite. Lake nearby was fun to walk to. Loved the location and would stay here again!

We always love our time at the Au Train Campground. It's very rustic, but very clean. The campground hosts do not have firewood, so other accommodations need to be made there, but a vendor in town with canoes and kayaks has firewood at a reasonable price.

Perfect campground for a semi-remote experience. The campsites are spacious and secluded. The nearby Lake AuTrain is a wonderful feature. Can't recommend this place enough.
@KarlaN6436355 · Camped on Aug 7, 2023 at Campsite #9
Au Train Lake and the Songbird Trail are the highlights of this wonderful campground. The towering trees of this mixed growth campground create a glowing green light and the undergrowth keeps each campsite private. Such a treat!

Nice campground. Sites are private and clean. The campground hosts do a very good job! Also the bathrooms are very clean! If you like rustic camping this is the place!
@JoshS9658841 · Camped on Jul 1, 2023 at Campsite #9
No showers, no sinks, and not even lighting inside the restrooms (so remember to bring headlamps). The campsites themselves seemed well-maintained and clean. Besides the lack of amenities, it's a decent camping spot for visiting Picture Rocks.
@JeanM7647794 · Camped on Jun 20, 2023 at Campsite #7
We love to stay here! The sites are clean and not too close to each other. The rest rooms are always spotless. Can’t tell you how much that is appreciated.

This campground is conveniently located to many of our favorite places in the U.P. The sites are very clean and offer privacy from neighboring sites.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
