Remote little gem of a campground if you can time it to avoid the bugs; hosts were nice, bathrooms and trash were in good shape

Someone was in our campsite at 5 PM. Nobody around, camp host was not there until the next day. Lucky there were some open sites available.

Beautiful area! The on line map was not up to date- site #40 is shown to be lakeside- it is not. #41 is. Many of the campsites are very close together, which can make for awkward camping, trying to be a polite neighbor. I was there mid week in September- fewer bugs and less people- but the people started streaming in Thursday night and Friday, when I left. Chipmunks are persistent, one spent the night in my car! Luckily nothing was destroyed and it ate the food that had fallen between the seats! Lots of hiking and exploring options.

It was fun and a nice rural getaway butttt I paid $10 on top of $40 for booking to change the date of my reservation and someone was in my spot when I got there at first I thought someone took my spot but my name was not on the campsite but instead said the person was paid through the next day. I was able to find the last site that wasnt reserved yet and told the person there wahr happened but I would love a refund for at least my $10 change fee since I paid $50 to not have my spot when I couldve pulled up and paid $22 for the spot I found.

It is a great campground, beautiful and peaceful. The sites were generally private and ample in size. The hike around the lake is nice, more of a stroll but well worth it. As well, the trail from the lake up to Tahk Tahk Meadows and the lava field is equally easy and well worth the time. The gravel section of the road on the way up could use some maintenance to shave down the endless washboards. Not sure how often that gets scheduled but I'd say it needs it now.

Beautiful, quiet little campground. The lake is peaceful and really pretty, and you cant beat the view of Mt. Adams!

Beautiful campground with well-maintained vault bathrooms. Camp hosts were great: helpful and cheerful. Site 5 is a small site but private with a trail to the lake (sites 3,4 & 6 also offer privacy). Campsites around the loop are bigger and some have views of the lake but no privacy. Between a full campground and the day-use area, it was a busy place with many families (despite or because of the heatwave). It's great to see families camping but children were screaming while playing in the water from 9 am to dark. Non-stop! Several campers kept their dogs tied up at their sites while they were at the lake and so barking and whimpering was another less enjoyable part of the camping experience. Flies and mosquitoes were annoying so be prepared. Get up early to watch the sun rise over a still lake. Gather with others to watch the sunset, casting a pinkish light on Adams. Watch an osprey dive for a fish released by a fisher. Watch the paddle boarders and kayakers glide around the lake. Hike the trails early before the flies wake up. I plan to return next year but will reserve after Labor Day when the noisemakers are back in school!

The road to the campsite comprises both paved and gravel sections. There were a few massive potholes; fortunately, these have been highlighted and circled with spray paint. I would recommend driving with a high-clearance vehicle, although I've seen a many sedans making it to campsite.Be prepared for mosquitoes, bugs, and tree sap at this campsite location. Additionally, as a reminder, this location doesn't have running water, but the toilets are well-maintained and stocked with toilet paper.Although this campsite doesn't provide a direct view of Mount Adams, it's just a 5-minute walk to the boat launching area. We were fortunate to witness numerous stars and a meteor shower at night, with Mount Adams as the backdrop near the boat launching area.

Very nice campsites. Campground hosts were very nice and attentive. About 33 miles from Randle and the last 8 miles is gravel in varying conditions (potholes, washboard etc). Pick up water for about $5 at Tower Rock U-Fish RV Resort. Dump for $5 at Alder Lake Campground. Cell service (very sketchy 1 bar) can be found by taking forest road NF-23 towards Trout Lake. At the T-junction with NF-90 you can try various locations and should get service. This location is approximately 6.0 miles from the campground.

Love this place. Been there a couple of times what a view and nice campgrounds. No water there so make sure to bring your own.

Reluctant to write this review since the lake feels like a hidden gem. Only negative is that it is buggy.

Beautiful lake. Campsites very close together. Road very narrow and severely washboard.

I stayed in campsite #23 and it was nothing less than amazing! The site itself was the perfect size, and neighboring sites weren't super close so privacy was good. The vault toilets were very clean, and everyone the hosts were extremely nice/friendly! And the lake... WOW! The bugs may have been a bit of a nuisance, but it was fun watching TONS of fish jumping up to get them. There was zero service which I loved, and the minimal "amenities" made it feel like true camping. Overall, I am very impressed with this campground and I cannot wait to come back.

The tent site (45) had a small, light-colored boulder situated in an unfortunate position ahead of the space we had to park our camper van in. One of us tripped over the boulder at night trying to walk to the pit toilet and hit her head/face on the ground, resulting in injuries. That boulder is a trip hazard and should be removed ASAP.

The campground was pleasant. Even with the neighbors deciding that the radio needed to be very loud. The hosts were nice and you could tell they took pride in maintaining the restrooms. The trails needed some chainsaw maintenance. The road up from Cispus was absolutely horrible once it became gravel! Even going at basically 5 mph I thought my car s going to break.

Beautiful and one of my favorite parks!! However I’m afraid that was my last time there because the roads just beat my car & trailer too much!🥲

Mosquitoes, mosquitoes, mosquitoes ! The only safe place was in the tent ! Arrived 7/31/22 planning to stay 3 nights. We lasted 2 and bailed out ! Lovely spot at the foot of Mt Adams, nice campground, good tent sites, pit toilets well maintained, friendly and helpful camp hosts....but the mosquitoes, sheesh ! People who knew what they were doing were wearing mosquito nets on their heads and in some cases "all over body" mosquito nets. I would say don't go there until very late in the summer and hopefully they've thinned out by then ! I was there on a day trip as part of a different camping trip last summer, towards the end of august and there were virtually no mosquitoes at all. But early August this year.... not good at all

Bathrooms and campground were clean. Hosts were great. However, there were so many bugs you couldn't talk outside without getting a mouthful. We kept waiting for the bugs to go away as the sun came out, but if anything, they got worse. We went home early. We will try again next year as this is usually one of our favorite campgrounds.
@JoRick2751739 · Camped on Jul 31, 2022 at Campsite #42
First I'll start by saying the camp host were very good. Clean restrooms and good dry firewood available. But the campground itself was a shambles with trees fallen all around. Small water puddles all around make superb breeding ground for the mosquitoes. There is supposed to be a trail around the lake, but it isn't maintained so it's blocked by fallen trees. The lack of any water and none to be found for at least 8 miles makes this a campground we'll probably never visit again.

Great campsite kinda close together but that lake makes it all worth it.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
