I made reservations at Blue Lake Campground in July for the Friday of Labor Day Weekend. We were coming on motorcycles and wanted to make absolutely sure we would have a place to stay that first night of our two-week vacation. On August 31, we received a confirmation, which affirmed that, to get to the campground from Randle, which is the direction we would be coming from, we should take Forest Road 23 to the North. So imagine our shock when, as night was falling, we got to Forest Road 23 and it was CLOSED, and the detour to get to the campground would take HOURS. With no choice, we had to camp rough, on the side of the road on Forest Road 29 - even rough camping was packed and our options were severely limited. I'm still so angry that we we won't notified of the closed road.

The area was fairly dispersed with a pretty creek nearby. There were bathrooms. We just slept here overnight and hit the road the next day.

It was a beautiful campground. We stayed during the week so there were very few other campers around. The only drawback for me was no picnic table at our campsite. We drove out of Trout Lake. The road was awful, gravel and lots of pot holes. The drive from Randel's was great. I just wish I could have had time to explore that area more.

Booked site 10 for Memorial Day weekend showed up and there was no picnic table as advertised, pretty disappointing. We were able to switch to site 7 which did have a table but both sites had virtually zero shade and had not been kept up at all. Will not be staying there again.

Camp host was really amazing... friendly and full of great suggestions on things to do nearby. The bathroom was kept super clean. We had a great time here.

The camp host was absolutely delightful! Loved her so much! So helpful and so kind. The campsites themselves are not private. Very open and exposed.

Great little campground. Not too noisy and only a few campsites which made it feel like a more secluded experience. No water though, which is never great, but you just come prepared and it's fine. Bathroom was shockingly clean for a campground. Lots of trails in the area. Love!

We really liked the general area, but due to the ATVs in the area it can get a bit noisy. The hike up to Blue Lake Creek was very challenging, but when we went in August it was awash with quite interesting mushrooms! It did have quite an elevation gain in only about 2.5 miles.

Secluded little campground that is in a good location in GP national forest. We walked down to the river straight from the site and had our own private access to the river. Most sites are large in size but there is no running water available and there was only one outhouse. I would recommend this for short stays or people passing through!

Very spacious camp sites, neighbors aren't too close, and the place wasn't packed. Surprisingly quiet for being right off of the main forest road. Honestly glad we stayed in this place rather than the overcrowded bigger campgrounds, like Tahkalahk and Walupt. Grassy, clean areas, lots of shade, nice area for a camp fire and a well kept picnic table, and a bonus, the sound of a creek running by to lull you to sleep. We will 100% be camping here again!

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
