R Shaefer Heard Campground in Troup County is located 44 min northeast of Auburn, AL with an elevation of 698 feet. There are a total of 117 campsites. The campground is open all year. Sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 25 and 107 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. All sites have electric and water hookups. Fees range from $34.00 to $68.00. Some amenities include shower, dump station, laundry facility, playground, boat ramp, swimming, amphitheater, flush toilets. Activities include boating, fishing, hiking trails, floating sports.

This park is absolutely beautiful! We stayed at site 42, which offered a gorgeous sunset view over the lake. However, there was a significant water leak at the site, creating a very large puddle over a large portion of the site. We reported it to the attendant, and if we had been staying longer than one night, we would have requested a different site. Despite this minor issue, we enjoyed our visit and would definitely return. The parks scenery make it a perfect destination!

Our 1st time here was great. Beautiful waterfront view if you like fishing.boating or just sitting back and relaxing then you will enjoy this campground.looking foward to staying here again.

Super Campground! Wonderful lakefront sites with lots of room between sites. Great walking trails, very smooth & level concrete pads. Easy to book & Enjoy!

A few things set them apart from other campgrounds. 1. When I got to my site, it was blown out; not even a twig was on the ground! I appreciate that, living in a tent. Rocks and twigs can punch holes in the floor! The site I had had a beautiful view of the water. When a storm blew in, my tent was doing the cha-cha. I asked if I could move, and you guys found me a site in the woods off the shore that offered me some protection from the wind. You worked with me! I appreciated that. Always a smiling face, I felt like I was with friends! As a writer, I crave peace and quiet so I can focus, you had that in spades. I can say after camping for a year straight, they do it better than anybody! Thank you

Beautiful and quiet when we were there. Loved having a lake view. Campground was clean. Laundry needs to be updated. Would definitely stay there again

Shafer Heard was as great as always. Make sure you watch your tank levels as there are no full hook-up sites. We really liked our site in the 100 section. Open sites and open water. Great all around.

The site was nice and easy to back into. However, we had to leave a day early. The power was out at the campground for over 12hrs.

One of the best campgrounds Ive been too on my road trips. Peaceful is the word I would use while staying there, on the banks of the lake. Very scenic and full of nature. My doggies loved our walks. Me too! Staff/Host were amazing to me while there, helpful, especially Valerie, restroom/common area personnel of the park. She was definitely a sweet person with a huge smile. Its on my list for a return visit in the future. Thank you for a well-maintained home away from home.

Really enjoy the West Point Lake Campgrounds. Overall, good place to camp. Suggestion - improve the interior look of the bathroom near the #40 area sites. It needs some freshening up.
