The Army Corp of Engineers, again, did an excellent job. Large lake without a lot of high speed boats, pull in camping, close to showers, nice staff, and plenty of privacy between sites.

Love Ridge Road camp ground. The only complaint is that they, along with others, are closing early due to funding..........makes me wonder what their normal funding stream is being used on.......hmmmmm

Enjoyed the stay and enjoyed the staff that worked here. You don't care much for people that don't rent spots out here on the island come out here and just sit and stare at you and see what you're doing. I believe unless they rent a spot out here.They shouldn't be allowed out here unless they walked a shoreline and stay on the shore line.

Where do I begin.. before I even arrived (I was 2 days late) I received a call from the volunteers making sure I was okay! I told them that its been an adventure (not a great one so far) but I was still on the road and planning on getting there! I arrived to the campground and was greeted by the best volunteers ever! Our campsite (#6) was breathtakingly beautiful! Every morning I would see the volunteers make their rounds to make sure all campers were okay and safe. On day 3 we decided to try to get closer to where my son was working in Augusta but to my surprise my DEF tank had malfunctioned and I was only able to drive 5 mph. I barely made it to the dump station where I accidentally thought I had the hose hooked on tightly but found out really quick that I missed a hook and was sprayed with poop water! Almost in tears and feeling defeated, I just stood there as the volunteers drive by. They noticed my distress and came to help. I told them the issue and they jumped into action, helping me secure a new camp site and even helped me back in. There my rig and my entire family sat for another week while I had multiple mobile mechanics come fix the problem. Everyday the volunteers checked in on me and even loaned their mobile hot spot to help out! I will forever sings their praises!!! What a amazing campground to be stuck in!!!!! If I ever come back this way again, I will most definitely stay here again!!!!!!

Very well kept campground. The volunteers do an awesome job at keeping everything cleaned up (even the bathrooms). I have not been here in over 20 years and we came back and I have to say it is by far the best campground we have ever been to. The water view and access to water was amazing. This campground is one that should be open longer or all year. Sad what the government is doing to the COE parks.

Staff is very friendly and eager to help. I enjoy all the campsites but do not like the clay water on the side where sites 6-29 are.

Campsite fine. Water completely muddy. Hardly able to walk in the water secondary to being mired down in mud. Bathhouse ok on cleanliness but needs updating. People at checkin rude. Took my pass away a day early because I was putting up my camper even though I paid for Sunday night and should have access until Monday check out. Beach access same muddy mess. Neighbors had their dogs fighting the entire time and people parking blocking the shared drive, but it was obvious they were buddies with the host campers so the rules didnt apply. They were quick to report my parents to the host camper for pulling up their pontoon temporarily and not being on our section of the beach meanwhile there was plenty of coastline/beach for them. Extremely rude to my daughter about it rather than coming to see the adults about an issue. Had to stay at ridge road because we couldnt find anywhere else with it being July 4th weekend, but dont worry we wont be back.

We spent 4 days and 3 nights on site 64 and it is beautiful. It is large and had direct access to the lake, so we were able to put in our kayaks right form the camp site. After taking a bike ride around the campgrounds you see that all of the sites have a view of the lake. The park host were very friendly and helpful. We had a conversation with a park ranger who gave ideas on what to see in the area. The campgrounds and facilities are clean. I would suggest a drive to the Visitors Center. This drive will take you over the dam. The scenic views are fantastic. If you enjoy sunrises and sunsets, you will love this park.

My husband and I agree - this was the most wonderful camp site we've ever had. A shady, large, clean, flat site with a charcoal grill, cooktop table, fire pit and a picnic table. The best part, was the little path leading to our own little private beach on the lake. The campground was clean and quiet, the sites were a good distance apart (not jammed together like many commercial campgrounds). The campground had a nice paved road that I took advantage of for a run one morning. I really wished we had more time to spend here, it was truly enjoyable.

I wish the campground had a longer season. Appears this year it will close even earlier.

We had a great stay at Ridge Rd Campground. We had some bad weather the first night but otherwise it was very pleasant. The attendants were nice and helpful. The restrooms and showers were clean. Recommend avoiding the hot summer months but spring time was very pleasant.

Review for Ridge road lot 29:Rating: 5/5Features:The Ridge road lot 29 offers a great view of the lake, with easy access for swimming. The area is free from rocks and is not muddy, making it ideal for a relaxing swim. The shallow water adds to the convenience and ensures a safe experience.Pros:One of the standout aspects of the Ridge road lot 29 is its cleanliness. The area is well-maintained and cleaned daily. The lot itself is of a nice size and offers great privacy, allowing for a peaceful and enjoyable stay. The staff at Ridge road is friendly and extremely helpful, always ensuring that everything is in order.Cons:The only downside to this place is that although the areas are reserved, some people do not show up to occupy them. For example, lot 30 was taken all weekend without anyone actually using it. This can make it difficult for others to find available spots, especially during peak periods. It would be appreciated if those who don't plan on using their reserved spots would free them up for others to enjoy.Overall, the Ridge road lot 29 provides an excellent experience with its beautiful view, convenient swimming access, and well-maintained facilities. The minor inconvenience caused by unused reserved spots should not overshadow the positive qualities of this location.

We loved this campsite. We had electric bikes and was able to ride for hours in and out of the park. So beautiful all over. Wish I had a kayak because we would have been in the water also. Lots of cicadas when we visited but they didnt bother us. Camp host were very nice as well

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
