Overall, the campground is well maintained and the camp sites are very nice. It is right on the Metolius river so getting into the river to go fishing is very easy with multiple great fishing access points. Fortunately, all the campers were very quiet during our time there, so made for a pleasant stay.The privy on the other hand, was absolutely disgusting (at least the men's side). Someone had had an issue in there and so there was nasty, used toilet paper strewn about on the floor causing the place to smell worse than a normal privy. There was a separate port-a-potie sitting across from the permanently installed privies that was overflowing and also had nasty looking toilet paper all over on the floor. Not sure how often the FS gets into this camp to clean the toilets, but never saw one during the three days we were there. We just avoided these all together during our stay.

This place is beautiful and restful. We had a wonderful time. You can hike upriver to the hatchery or downriver to Candle Creek Campground. This place is mostly for fisherman. It is quite a ways to the Camp Sherman store area.

We love Lower Bridge Campground. We stayed in campsite #1 this time. Not much room for your vehicle. But, magnificent view of the Metolius River! We're eager to return. This was probably our 10th visit to Lower Bridge Campground over the years. Outstanding!

Stayed in #4. Length to spare for my 23 trailer and 17 vehicle. One tree prevents use of awning but dense forest canopy provided all day shade. Forest canopy shades and limits solar to less than 50% and for portable solar you will need a 60-75 cable. River bank gets full afternoon sun. Multiple trees accommodate hammocks with 1 location near river. Also, a nice grassy spot by water to sit in chairs and relax. Great location to get away from the cellular umbilical cord; but if need to checkin, just drive up NF-1490 1-2 miles for 2 bars LTE on Verizon enough to make calls and send/receive data.

The river and campground were beautiful as always. I have been camping on the Metolius (various campgrounds) for 50 plus years and have seen some ups and downs. It seems to me the current 'down' is people making reservations and not showing up. I have never seen Lower Bridge so empty during my week there. There was plenty of people driving thru looking to find a spot but they were posted as reserved....There are many hikes along the river and beyond for all ages and abilities. My favorite is from Lower Bridge to Candle Creek on the west side.

The campground is great. Site number one is not. Very narrow and my rig is only seven feet wide. Please convert it to a back-in site.

Great spot with a buce, wide view of the river. Perfect for a pull-through.

Campsite 1 is the most scenic and overall fantastic site but tight for a camper/RV/trailer with trees and a slope.

Each year since 1996 I have camped in Lower Bridge. It has always been great. The last couple years I have tried to dispose of my trash in the dumpster only to find it is nearly impossible to open the lid. It would take Superman to simply lift up the hatch. It is a different style than in past years. What message is this sending to campers? There are many senior citizens like me who are conscientious about disposal of trash. I'm mystified.

Absolutely stunning site and location! Love all the hiking up and down the Metolius. Will be back for sure!

Our visit was wonderful as usual. I do believe the FS should remove the rocks on the RV door side of the sites as these are a safety hazard. Additionally we noticed that the camp host was not staying on top of sites that should have been marked available due to “no show” reservations. Maybe someday when there’s more money in the budget you can level the sites a bit.

This is a beautiful campground set in the Ponderosa Pines and along the river. We’ve stayed here many times and enjoy the solitude and friendly campers. The bathrooms were clean, well maintained and stocked with supplies. Unfortunately, we had two disappointments: (1) our picnic table had a huge (8 x 11”) burn most of the way through the table. Made it difficult to utilize the table fully (2) the trash cans were overfilled and trash was strewn all over the ground where squirrels were carrying it off. This was not dumped for 2 days… it was an eyesore near our campsite and it smelled.

We camped here for only one night and we loved it. We had camp site 59 and we were the only ones on that side of the campsite it was awesome and so peaceful. And the camp hosts were so incredibly nice and very helpful!! Such nice people! I highly recommend this site.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
