While the campsite and bathroom were clean and we appreciatd the remoteness of this location, there were other issues. The pictures don't depict the Metolius River correctly. This section of the river are rapids, dangerous for children and extremely loud. It's been 3 days since we left and our ears are still ringing. You're unable to have a conversation without yelling because the river is so loud not to mention trying to sleep. The description of the road is incorrect, too. We were able to drive our Prius on the road without any issues. Also, the written directions don't align with the map on the website.

The campground was secluded and rustic. The only negative was the last mile or so that was gravel. It got my camper very dusty. Maybe the Forest Service could oil the road for dust control.

we couldn't even find the campground. It was this awful road that our truck barely made it off of and we couldn't find it on our gps . Gps led us to a gate that said road closed. So, we ended up having to pay to stay at another campground. Pretty bummed.

Wonderful camping! Such a beautiful forest and river. Quiet and cozy. The ranger girl is very friendly!

Peaceful and quiet, right between the river and the creek. Hiked, Geocached, fished and enjoyed camp!

Gorgeous setting along the Metolius at junction with Candle Creek. Pre-season with less than half spots full and no bugs😂. River almost too loud for bonfire conversations but perfect for a good sleep. Lovely hike upstream with many wildflowers. Clean outhouse but daytime flies buzzing inside.

Love Candle Creek. Please do kindly add a dog hitch hook outside the toilet. I come to Candle Creek frequently, and with 2 dogs, it would be so much easier if there was a dog hitch outside the toilet like in many other public campsites. Thank you!

Wonderful quiet spot. I went midweek in 100+ degrees so maybe quieter than normal. The shaded site was perfect. Huge sites all around!

Outstanding campground. One of my favorites on the Metolius for years. Beautiful location, excellent hiking along the river from the campground and in the mountains nearby. Very remote feel and private, well spaced campsites.

Campsites are huge! Very quiet except for the sounds of the creek and Metolius. Signage to campground could be better. Nice trail along the river.

We camped here with 3 tents, 6 people and 2 dogs. The sites were all huge! It was very comfortable and the river was roaring all night. We hiked around the area from the our campsite, and it was lovely. The river isn't safe for wading at the camp site. It looks like class 2-3 rapids and was extremely fast. But there are some "pools" that you can walk to nearby and safely enter. Also, per the other reviews, do NOT follow google maps to this campsite. It will send you to the other side of the river. You will be able to see the campsite, but you cannot cross that river to reach your site! The road to the campsite was in good repair. We made it in an old Honda Civic with no problems. We all loved this site! Also the bathrooms were in excellent shape.

Nice campground but some miscommunication problems the rangers could have easily taken care of but didn't.

I backpacked here from canyon creek and camped alone. The site was large and spacious and well maintained. Boundaries between sites are not well marked but that wasnt an issue just something of note. Personally would have picked sites 3 or 4 if I had known that site 1 had minimal river veiws and access. I do not regret calping here though. Facilities were well maintained and trail access was good. Really solid camping area that I intend to bring friends along to next time.

Very nice campground with large sites, and not nearly as crowded as the other campgrounds on the Metolius. The river and creek are loud -- good if you want to block out neighbor noise, bad if you like to listen to birds. The gravel road to the campground must've been re-graded recently, as it looked perfectly fine for passenger cars and small trailers.

We really appreciated Forest Service employees periodically checking to make sure all campers knew not to have campfires other than using gas camp stoves as it was extreme fire season. The location between the Metolius River and Candle Creek is lovely and makes all sites pleasant. Its relative remoteness is great, sites are roomy, and the ever-present sound of flowing water makes sites feel very private.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
