Never saw a mosquito during our three days camping in July.

Camp was clean, quiet, reservation sites signs were easy to read and understand. It is the nature of the reservation system, but it is sad to see unoccupied sites marked as reserved.

Allingham is a small campground (10 sites) next to the Metolius. Beautiful spot with lots of trees and just steps from the river. Paul, the camp host for Allingham and Smiling River did a great job of keeping the place clean and stopped by our camp several times to chat and see if we needed anything. Lots of trees so don’t expect much solar recharging of the batteries. Some of the sites very very tight (trees) to fit a large RV, but doable.

Beautiful spot. Nice campsite right beside the river. Short drive to the town of Sisters in one direction and a very nice lake for swimming in the other. Camp Host was friendly and helpful. Pit toilets were the only drawback. They were quite stinky at times.

The area is beautiful! Our camp host was friendly and helpful. Vault toilets were clean. The only negative we have is that many sites were marked as reserved and no one came. But this was also true at Smiling River and La pine according to people we met camping there. I thought if you didn’t fill your spot by the next day it was opened. But that didn’t seem to be happening. Maybe if they set up, a reminder in the system. Up coming reservation- will you be coming? And to those who do make reservations, if you aren’t going to go please cancel.

Lovely campground on the river. Bathrooms not well maintained. A favorite destination.

Allingham Campground is one of the rustic Forest Service campgrounds along the upper Metolius River, near Camp Sherman. A riverside hiking path goes to Camp Sherman along both sides of the river for a nice two mile round trip.

Always quiet and pleasant at this campground. I was impressed with the camp host and how clean the bathrooms were. I have been coming here for over 55 years and that is saying something! Spot number 9 really does not have a river view which is my fault, would have been nice with 95 degree heat to sit near the river. No complaints.

Our 5 day stay in Allingham was great. The other campers were quiet and considerate. The pit toilets were clean and checked regularly. There are multiple hikes to take, and it's super easy to walk up to the Camp Sherman General Store. The trail next to the river does skirt the sites that are next to the river and sometimes even felt like you were walking through a person's campsite. With the exception of one walker openly blaring music on his walk, everyone was polite as they walk by. The 'can't miss', of course, for anyone new to the area is Wizard Falls. There are a number of good campgrounds along the Metolius, not just Allingham so check them all out.

The Campground was fine. However, upon arrival the camp host told me that I did not have a reservation. I showed the host my confirmation from Recreation.gov. The host showed me their list and my reservation was not listed. The host contacted their company and was told that in order to camp there I would have to pay the fees and then take it up with Recreation.gov. Fortunately we arrived early enough to get the site as a First Come. The Host was very understanding and helpful. To my understanding there is a new company managing the campground. Apparently there is some type of communication problem. I would have liked the company to show some initiative and allow me to stay at the site without paying them but instead have them contact recreation.gov. I've owned businesses and this was not good customer service. It seems to me that when a place is popular and people want to go there, then quite often customer service can be lacking. Now I need to contact regreatio.gov and see if I can get a refund. Again, we found the camp host to be very friendly to all the campers.

The Metolius River is one of the prettiest places in Oregon. Clear, cold, swift river with beautiful views from our campsite and beautiful views from the trails on either side of the river. The park host was super nice. We had a wonderful visit!

We loved this small campground.

Lovely to listen to the river from our spot number 10. Nice and quiet campground with lots of bicycling and hiking at our doorstep. The hiking trail goes right by the campsites but not a problem at all. We were lucky with no mosquitos and great weather.

A+ Beautiful, clean, quiet. Listening to the crystal clear water running through the gentle rapids in the still of the forest is heaven on earth.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
