Always one of our favorites for over 20 years, even without water (fish hatchery and Camp Sherman store are not that far away). Lovely to see the fall colors along the river! Chilly weather at night, mildly warm during the day for our 6-mile round-trip walk to Lower Bridge, then up to the fish hatchery and back to Allen Springs. Very nice the the fire-ban was modified to allow campfires in areas that have the fire rings.

Allen Springs is a beautiful campground and we had a lovely time. The campground host was very nice and allowed us to switch sites because there was no shade in ours (site 08). However, the second night that we were there, the camp host disappeared in the early afternoon and didnt come back. The women next to us got drunk, made a huge fire and were at high volume until 11pm. I tried asking them to be quiet and it just made things worse. I wish he would have stayed. We love this campground. A bald eagle landed across the river from us, and deer walked through our site. There are also very friendly chipmunks!

campsite was super nice under 2 massive douglas firs. it rained the first day but out tent and my daughter and i stayed dry under the massive trees. The river was so close we could hear it as we slept. Mountain bike riding at suttle lake was all time. The lake is beautiful. We also went into bend to go white water rafting in the Deschutes river. I love the central Oregon part almost better than the surf at seaside with the crab. Love that site. be back soon.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The facilties are clean, and there were no generators. Restoring the water service to those faucets would be nice!

Excellent camp site, even without drinking water. The camp host, Matthew, was extremely helpful and attentive, and takes good care of the site.

Small very peaceful campground. Large sites, some right next to the river. Beautiful area. We saw a lot of wildlife on the river including otters. On our cross state Oregon camping trip this was our favorite campground. Just was excellent.

Paradise. But be sure to bring your own water.
@SallyG92428719 · Camped on Jun 22, 2023 at Campsite #2
One of our favorite spots on the Metolius. Tons of room and beautiful views. One of the things that made our experience extra special this year was having a great camp host, Matthew Allred. He was very friendly, attentive but not at all overbearing, he kept the bathrooms super clean, and was safety minded. This was a welcome change after previous years of no dedicated camp host support. We can’t wait to go back!
@Catherine13229 · Camped on Jun 16, 2023 at Campsite #16
We love this campground. River views & a close walk to the Wizard Falls fish hatchery. Metolius River Trial from here can take you on a loop to Lower Bridge and along the opposite side of the river to Wizard Falls, cross back & return to Allen Springs. We also have enjoyed hiking from Wizard Falls to Sugar Springs (west side of the river) or from Wizard Falls to Gorge campground (east side of the river). No running water provided at this campground but we don’t find this to be s problem.

What a lovely location this campground is in the US National Forest. Located along the Metolius River, this campground provides a scenic view from nearly every site.
@KarenG3722457 · Camped on Oct 12, 2022 at Campsite #1
This campground is very beautifully located along the Metolius River. Hiking along the River is easily accessible. Although it is a dry campground, there is a pit-toilet. Also, the campfire in the fire pit was awesome.
@LoreleiV268795 · Camped on Oct 10, 2022 at Campsite #12
I like the campground and the area, but the vault toilet was quite odoriferous to say the least. I could not stay in that space because of it.

Site #11 has amazing views of the river.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
