Always enjoy our trips there. Weather was good, camp site clean, good neighbors. Only negative was the fish cleaning station was in very bad condition, drain at ground level plugged, gut cans reeked and not cleaned the week we were there. Garbage bins were also foul. Its a wonder the area wasnt overrun with bears and coyotes. Never seen it like this before.

Little noisy with highway near campsite. Otherwise it was a beautiful site

Sunset Cover is a very beautiful campground, right on Odell Lake, with spacious sites that are nicely spaced and landscaped for privacy, but it's just too close to Highway 58 if you're a light sleeper. We had the unfortunate luck to camp during road construction, which happened the first night starting at 3:00 a.m. and continued into the next night until 11:30 p.m. Still, we had planned to stay several more days but our dog experienced a medical emergency (not due to the camp conditions) and we had to leave early. The camp hosts, Vera and Paul, were very nice and the grounds were extremely clean. The pit toilets were the nicest I've ever experienced in a campground. If not for the closeness of the major highway, we would definitely camp there again.

Visually this is a very nice campground. Odell Lake is beautiful. The reason I give only 2 stars is because the road noise was extremely loud and went through much of the night. Trucks at 70mph sounded like a freight train coming by in my tent. People started coming to the day use area extremely early, before 5am. So it was just too much noise to get a decent night’s sleep.

While the campground was nice and so was the campsite I reserved, I arrived to find my campsite was posted as available. Luckily no one was in it so I did get my site. Can you imagine the problems that might have occurred had someone been in the campsite that I had reserved.

The campground setting is beautiful and peaceful. The camp hosts were super helpful. The only down side is that it’s close to the main road, but this truly was a minor problem.

Camp host not available for assistance. Be cautious of selecting site as some are very isolated.

Enjoyed our stay at Sunset Cove. The traffic was the only disappointment, pretty loud. The camp host was right next to us, we enjoyed all the stories he shared with us.

Very nice boat ramp and slips. Fish cleaning station is nice. Bathrooms and grounds are kept clean and tidy. Campground is very near a major hiway. Campsites are adequate but the ground is dirt (no grass, etc). Lots of trees that provide shade.

I really liked the set-up of this campground. for our annual family camping trip we had three sites and they were all in a triangle so it felt like we were the only people there with easy access to all three sites. The campground is small with only 15 sites which helped us feel alone. It is next to the highway so if you are a light sleeper I would not recommend it unless you have ear plugs. The boat launch was extremely convenient, they even had boat slips available. I would definitely stay here again.

Kudos to a nice camp host at Sunset Cove - so much different than our last few experiences this year. On that note we are frequent campers. This year we have experienced "rude" and almost belligerent camp hosts at both Hay Stack Reservoir and Smiling River. Why they cannot come into camp and introduce their self and explain rules is beyond me. I am more than willing to comply to their request if done politely. Instead they sit in the cart and shout and are quite rude in their manner. I understand they interact with all kinds of people in their job - it can't be easy. But not ALL campers are not all rude. It leaves me with a bad attitude. Please address the rudeness of camp hosts and etiquette of introducing themselves and starting on the right foot. I love USFS camping and hate to see it turn to what we have experienced this summer.

Odell Lake is very beautiful. There are great boat launch amenities at Sunset Cove campground. However, it is right off of the highway and there is constant road noise, even until late in the evening. The road noise made it difficult to relax in camp. It is a beautiful area, especially if you plan to spend most of your time on the water.
@MichaelaW678 · Camped on Jul 9, 2021 at Campsite #7
Multiple groups with dogs off leashes running everywhere. Groups yelling and shining flashlights in other campers faces at 10pm. People leaving fires unattended during extreme fire risk. And camp hosts did not care or do anything about any of the above.
@SamP362 · Camped on Jul 4, 2021 at Campsite #12
Odell Lake is amazing. The sunset cove campground is really nice with two exceptions. One, our site (12) was very slanted. The picnic table and tent site were no where near level. Two, the location is directly off the highway. If you are in a trailer or RV, nothing to worry about. If you’re in a tent, plan on not sleeping well due to highway noise.

Beautiful view of the lake, campground was great! Camp Post was awesome, definitely will be back for future camping.
@MarkT514 · Camped on Jun 27, 2021 at Campsite #7
overall good however the bathroom near the boat landing needed to be serviced and the trash emptied. since more people are using campgrounds due to covid more services are required

Great camping site. It offered a lake for fishing and crater lake within driving distance. The best thing about this camp site was the camp host. He was friendly and pleasant. I give this place 5 stars.
@TimothyP708 · Camped on Jun 18, 2021 at Campsite #18
The only negative thing I have to say about this campground id the highway noise. Everything else was excellent. Ray, the camp host was very friendly, and stopped by a couple of times yo visit. The campsite was excellent, and the trails were great. Our dogs loved swimming in the lake. We highly recommend this campground.
@SueH173 · Camped on Oct 2, 2020 at Campsite #7
The highway noise is almost unbearable unless you have soundproofing measures, no matter which campsite you stay. Our site #7 had awesome views of the lake, but it was road noisy. We were tent camping which didn’t help. Other campers on this weekend were quiet and considerate..

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
