It took a long time to find our site because the signage in the campground...well...there isn't any. Once we got to our site and were set up, a large group came and took 4 sites around us. It quickly became clear they were they to party and the noise and disturbance started immediately. Since it was the last weekend of the season, the campground seemed pretty sparsely reserved and, thankfully, the host allowed us to move. The host was far and away the best part of the campground. Signage and maps were inadequate. Facilities were in need of maintenance and repair, especially some fresh paint in the restrooms. There was little in the way of directional signage for traffic. Honestly, we've seen much better.

The destination was very nice and theres much to do in the area. Our stay was cut short by forest fire smoke, though the campground itself was not threatened by the fire. Camp hosts were very helpful.

Terrific location for our family with kids. Spacious camp spots large enough for multiple tents ( or a large one.. we used our 14x16 canvas wall tent) and parking spacers we very large as well. My wife enjoyed having actual flush toilets and lighting in the bathrooms.*our only negative was the fact the bathrooms were not stocked with soap or paper towels. :(

Camp hosts were very friendly and welcomed us upon arrival. Made recommendations for sites to see in the area. Bathroom facilities were very clean. Will visit again in the future. We had a wonderful trip.

I missed being able to have a campfire (even though several other sites did). The mosquitos were voracious (a small fire might have helped with that. It was quiet and near the lake. We had dinner at the lodge and our grandson enjoyed jumping off the dock there.

The camp host and hostess are the best! They helped us figure out a site that our over large trailer would be best in following a reservation that I made for another site that would not work. They were kind, and always available as we also found on our departure day when our truck would not start!Thanks again for all your help

Despite the initial challenges with our reservation, we found the campsite itself to be quite pleasant. The grounds were well-maintained, offering a serene and picturesque environment. The facilities were clean and conveniently located, enhancing our overall camping experience. The natural beauty of the area provided a perfect backdrop for relaxation and outdoor activities. We appreciated the tranquility and the opportunity to connect with nature during our stay.

The camp host was great. He kept the restrooms clean and stocked. We enjoy fishing and the activities around the lodge. The only negative was our timing - a cold front moved in for the few days we were there. It was cold, windy and snowed.

The lake was perfect for our inflatable kayak, convenient to walk to from our camp site.The Obsidian Flow trail was amazing as was the Lava Lands Lava Cave in nearby Bend (make parking reservation on recreation.gov)!!We would have liked to drive up to Paulina Peak but were advised not to take our 25' rental RV on the gravel road.We needed to use DEET spray to keep from getting bit by the mosquitos and it worked.Beautiful spot , so much to see .We hope to visit again and do more hiking.

Campground pretty beat out but in beautiful location. Urinal in Men’s restroom did not flush. Fish cleaning house open but water not working. Thus filthy. U.S. Forest Service really needs to reinvest to bring these facilities back up to standard with fully systems operating. If it weren’t such a beautiful place it would be really disappointing. Sad to see facilities continue to decline in condition.

The lake, even with the yellow algae and bugs, was beautiful. The access to the Newberry Volcanic Monument Areas was terrific. Campground was quiet, well taken care of, and site was level.

Paulina Lake Campground was an unexpected gem. We were looking for a one-night stopover in Central Oregon before heading on to Diamond Lake in eastern Douglas County. Paulina Lake is one of two twin crater lakes in the Newberry National Volcanic Monument between Bend and La Pine. It's at a level of 6,331 feet above sea level. Paulina Lake is a highly used recreation site and boaters have to either go through the campground or nearby to access the water. I had read many reviews that said people were woken early in the morning from pickups towing boats through the campground. Thankfully, that wasn't an issue for us. Our campground loop was used more by people leaving the lake and that didn't happen until later in the afternoon. And the rigs going by weren't excessively loud. The campground was clean and well cared for. We were a little nervous because they delayed the opening for two weeks so crews could remove trees blown over during the winter. They got the work done on schedule and the campground opened the day before we arrived. Vault toilets were situated throughout the campground and there were drinking water spigots for filling up jugs. We had a great stay and would consider coming here again.

Paulina Lake was an unexpected joy. We were looking for a campsite to provide a break while driving to Diamond Lake in eastern Douglas County while coming from Boise. The sites were spacious and the camp hosts were friendly. We loved that they had a full-sized pet pig with them.
@LawrenceB17391 · Camped on Jun 30, 2023 at Campsite #62
Paulina lake campground was good. Site 62 was advertised as a pull through but with a trailer there was no way to pull through. Had to back out, no big deal but a pain. There is a nearby federal rv dump station, but $10 even for guest. Not enough extra boat parking. Fish cleaning station was not open. Area is beautiful. Lots of hiking trails and lots of fishing. Nice boat ramp and docks but again needs more boat trailer parking.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
