Some spots are super tight for RVs and would be better marked as tent spots. Campground and sites were clean of fallen debris. The bathrooms were clean and the camp hosts were great.

Beautiful campground, very well maintained and clean. Can't wait to go back next year!

Most of the time I had the east loop all to myself. The campground host for this loop were very friendly.

Great Camp Hosts! Large dumpsters, potable water and bathrooms conveniently located throughout campground. Nice flat boat ramp which reaches the lake even under low water conditions.

Camp hosts were wonderful, the campground was clean. Wonderful place to camp.

Had a good stay. Camped next space from friends. Not happy about the more expensive charge for an extra car. Makes you not want to stay as long.

First camp out for the year. Lots of trees down and lots of debris to burn.
@JBP7050824 · Camped on Aug 26, 2022 at Campsite #26
There were so many trees removed that this place is not very private or pleasant to the eye. Camping spots have changed, the maps do not represent the changes. I booked a pull spot that is no longer a pull through, luckily there was room to back in. It was super loud with all the motorcycles and side by sides speeding through the campground and around the perimeter of it. Very dry and dusty. Oh, and the road in is horrible.

It’s a great campground and our family enjoys camping there. But this year there was no water. We were notified of this inconvenience. However, the date of water turned on did not happen, the forest dept had no Idea when it would be back. This isn’t the first time this has happened to us.

Beautiful spacious campsite with plenty of access to fun activities. We loved watching the sunset over the reservoir at dinner time.

I expected this to be a nice quiet campground but the first night (a Thursday) there was super load music being played by another campspot until after midnight! These campers were out of control and there was no one around (campground host or police) to enforce the quiet hours after 10pm. I knew going in that the lake water level was low and that there was no drinking water so I accepted those problems. The last 2 nights things quieted down so that made our camping trip much better.

Hot, dusty, no water available in the campground and it doesn't appear the US Forest Service has done any maintenance of roadways or sites within the campground for years.

The park host when we camped there are second to none. Very friendly and helpful and knowledgeable. They drive by and make sure camp sites are in order and help when needed. Camp host like these add to total enjoyment of camping. The camp sites are clean and nicely managed. Not sure what is going on with the availability of water, but overall it is a great site.

Very very small campsites. Could’ve provided less camping spots but more space for the campers. Most people didn’t have access to the water or even few it because the campers in front of the water, all had rvs. Could barely fit a 2014 grand Cherokee and ram truck in the spot provided. Not including what room we would’ve needed for our tent. We paid the $50 for two nights, just to leave the second we got there. Highly disappointing and I won’t be returning because it’s clear this place just wants money. Fantastic camping spots near by, down the road. Was able to have a entire campsite with nobody in view, just by going down the road 5 minutes.

Arrival and departure were fine. Camp hosts were friendly and inviting. Bad thing; there was no domestic water available and seemed like no effort was made to fix the problem. Therefore, I don't think it was possible to properly clean the restrooms, plush toilets did not work, fish cleaning station was shut down. No rv dumping.

The campground itself is lovely. However, Recreation.gov did not send us a note that there is no water or dup station in the area. We made the reservation 6 months in advance, and were not aware of the water situation. Make sure you bring plenty of fresh drinking water or else you will be driving to another campground to fill up jugs. The nearest dump station is La Pine or Oak Ridge, depending on your direction. Again, this information should be shared by Recreation.gov but it is not.

We come here EVERY year, but this may be our last… They’ve ruined that reservoir for too many years now. Gotta climb down a gravel hillside just to reach the water and it’s been too low for too long so now it’s not really fishable for Kokanee anymore. To top it off, they didn’t even have potable water and no warning ahead to bring your own fresh water to drink/use. We left after only half of our reservation and no way to get our money back. VERY disappointing after enjoying decades of family trips here.

We've stayed a couple of times now at Gull Point Campground on Wickiup Reservoir: First time for 4 nights in August of 2020. The reservoir was pretty much full, the fish were flopping around, and I wasn't landing any of them. During the day, it was warm and a bit balmy. Each evening, the full moon was rising in the east and after a few minutes hovered over Hamner Butte to the south to pose for shots while there was still some light available. A few hours after sundown, the temperature descended into the high 50's if I remember right. Our fire kept us plenty warm until we turned in. Our latest visit was September 15 2021. It was very different from our first visit, with the only exception being that I still could not catch any fish. One of the biggest differences was that the water had been released from the reservoir: I was now fishing in the Deschutes River, which was winding its way in loops and bends at the drying bottom of manmade lake. Another difference this time was the temperature. 75 or so during the day, but at 4200 feet, you know it's going to get cold at night in mid-September. And on this visit, campfires were not allowed. Needless to say, we were colder that night than we have ever been in that tent! In the morning my wife looked at the term in the pickup and it was reading 31F. That means we were sleeping in a three season tent when it was high 20's at coldest point mid-morning. Please pardon long windedness, and accept a well deserved positive summary: This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen on this planet, and I think even more so with the reservoir drained. Even if the fish are disrespectful of my intentions. Come on up to Wickiup Reservoir. Bring your expectation for views all around of unparalleled beauty. Bring your camera. Bring extra blankets if you're late in the season. Bring your fishing gear, and please let me know of your productivity rate in that regard. Cheers all.

Weather was great, campground is well maintained, will be back next year!

Bathrooms were not flush toilets as was mentioned in the website. Also, the fact the reservoir is emptied must be highlighted when describing the location. As a camp site, it was relatively clean. The camp hosts do a great job keeping it up. Despite the fire-ban, some guests still lighted up fire logs. The hosts did make them put their fire off, but it was unsettling to see people defy the rules despite the historic draught we are in.

Nice quite campground. Not much water, but it is always like that this time of year.

We wish we had know there was absolutely no water in the reservoir before we booked. We didn’t stay, lost all our money. We ended up going to Waldo Lake instead. Lesson learned!!

Thanks to all our Supporting Members

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
