It's very beautiful at East Sullivan Campground. Was fairly quiet most of the time. There were deer roaming the campground. And the campground host's were very friendly and did a good job of keeping everything cleaned up.

Had a bit of a setback when we arrived - we found another party set up in our reserved spot. They said the reservation tags were not put out the day before and they booked for 2 nights which included one of our nights. The campground manager was nowhere to be found to help resolve the issue until later that night once we already settled into another site to avoid making the other party move. We caught up with the manager later that night and said we had the conflict figured out, but never saw the manager again throughout the rest of our 3 night stay. The rest of our visit was wonderful and we love staying there.Better communication and reservation notification to other campers would be an improvement in the future. Consistent campground manger presence would also be beneficial.

we stayed in site 9. i do not recommend this site. we could smell the outhouses very strongly, especially from the picnic table. the camp host was kind and understanding. but we did not enjoy this campsite. if there is a way to move the picnic table further away from the outhouses it might help.

The campground is lovely. I love the opportunities to hike and kayak and swim. Most of the other guests were friendly, kind and considerate. There were a few that were loud after 10 - different group each night. The campground host was proactive and effective. I felt badly that she had to stay up late to keep inconsiderate people in line. Mostly it was wonderful. I will camp there again.

Lake Sullivan is always a great place to spend a few days. It was this time as well. However, there are a couple of issues for people to be aware of. First, prices are increasing. A single site last year was $24, this year $27 and next year will be $29. More importantly, they have changed the reservation system. In the past, there were sites which were reservable and some which were not. The non-reservable sites were "first come first served." Now, all sites are reservable. If a site is not reserved you are able to take it for a night unless someone reserves it after you arrive there. What happened for us was that our "reserved" card was not posted on our site so someone came and took it for the night. Luckily they were leaving the next day and there were other sites open, so we took one of those for the first night and then moved the next day. That really could have been a bad situation. This new system means no one can go up mid-week and take a "first come, first served" spot and stay thru the weekend because every weekend all summer long is booked far in advance. Not sure why they felt a need to change a system that has worked so well for many, many years. We used to go up on a Monday, find a spot and then decide how long to stay. You are no longer able to do this. Everything must be booked in advance. We talked to several other campers and no one likes this new system. It was a terrible, terrible idea. One other issue is why does recreation.gov need to collect $8 for EVERY reservation? It's an electronic system and I can't believe maintenance on the software can possibly cost that much, considering the number of camping locations that use that site.

Planning to come back. Facilities were clean, bear boxes are provided for safe food storage, and the campground host was super cool. It has a nice beach though one drawback is that dogs are not allowed down there. Understandable, but it would be nice to have a section for dogs to hang - a great deal of campers have pooches. Liked the feel of the campground - it hasnt been updated or remodeled so it has this fantastic old feeling to it (decades old chip seal, dirt camping pads, ya know - the worn-in look). Fun to see the airplanes land at the airstrip.

Great hosts this year! Forest Service and area volunteers have done a lot of work cleaning up the campground. Hasnt looked this good in years. Only problem we encountered was with mice. We trapped 10 of them in our trailer during our 10 day stay in site 5.

I love this campground. The lake is always spectacular. I have a problem with the outhouses. There is so much more that can be done for hygiene, even if we are camping. The science on decent outhouses has come a long way ; spend a little money and that place will continue to be amazing. Thanks.

The campsite is nice. Camp host lady was a bi*ch. Walking around acting like residents were going to start forrest fires. Place a ban of you're worried. Also, clean out your fire pits more often.

Good morning,I have been camping at Sullivan Lake for over 40 years and have never seen something as stupid or dangerous as having a garbage trailer parked within the campground,whats the point of having Bear safe cooler containers.the Camphosts also need to enforce the Dogs on leash rule within the Campground!!!,on the beach does not matter as dogs are in play mode,not protecting their camp.Other than that as usual Sullivan never disappoints!!Love the Lake,waiting for Summer 2024,Yours truly Kooch

Overall the trip was great and the hosts did a great job of keeping up with the bathrooms. They could have done a bit better with keeping the loud ones down after at least 11pm. We had a few sites that were loud and making noise clear past 1am.It would also be nice if you could repair the potholes on Sullivan Creek Road, they have been there for years.

Sullivan lake is one of the coolest places out there. So beautiful. The campground and facilities are clean and well taken care of. Definitely recommend taking a trip over to Boundary dam and kayaking/ boating to Peewee falls. Amazing!

We have been going to Sullivan Lake every year for 16 years and have deemed it our "happy place." This year was another great one. Our one complaint was the entitled people who have started camping there and reserve their spot on the beach for an entire week by leaving their chairs, umbrellas, boats, etc. on the beach for their entire stay, even if they aren't currently using them. The sites are all now reservable, but apparently some people think the beach is, as well. This should be addressed by the hosting company because it has become a progressively worse problem every year. We don't want to sink to the level of these incredibly selfish people, but may have to just to have a spot by the lake. Very sad. Beach should be first come, first served.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
