cg was closed, rec.gov sent us an email but there is no cell service at this site. nothing was posted on the check in station, nobody was there. cg is old and in need of upkeep. usfs should stop using contractors to run these.

We had a large group camper here for the weekend, and we were very pleased. The site was well-managed, clean, and the other campers were respectable as well. There wasnt any water available for the weekend we were there, however the managers were very accommodating and had great communication. Overall, this camping site was wonderful and we will be returning in the future!

My wife and I came up to the mountains for a quick one night in our little camper. Perfect secluded campground. The host was very nice. Nice short trail to the lake with a boat ramp and dock plus a swimming area. Trails to connect to the AT right out the back of the campground too. Site 12 was an easy pull through spot (although might be a little tight for larger rigs). Overall a little expensive, but for the location and power and water hookups Im not docking any stars.Did have a mom and cub run up on us while we were having morning coffee (7 or 8 am on 7/27). We scared them as much as they scared us but just be bear aware.Also no AT&T service.

We love the campground however it needs repairs.

Hosts were very nice. Park is showing its age and needs a lot of updates. Lake is growing a lot of weeds along shoreline. Lake needs dredged. The 4 spots with hookups could have some road modifications to make it easier to maneuver longer rigs. Park needs a septic dump station and a cell signal booster or WiFi. Hwy 180 needs shoulder work and shoulder additions.

Me and my family had a wonderful vacation, one of the best we have ever had, I loved that the cabin had no wifi and no television, it was great to escape and enjoy my grandchildren, we swam everyday in the beautiful lake, we took our kayaks out every morning and evening, we fished, hiked, made smores, played corn hole, played cards, it was amazing, the staff at the lake were awesome, I highly recommend this to everyone, it's great for children and parents to escape technology for a while.

Our favorite place always, but the bathrooms are in need of an update, and there was a ton of poison ivy. We'd like ice to be provided as well. That being said, we return here to this lovely campground year after year with our family. The camp hosts were friendly and great! See you next year!

Bathrooms and services were clean. We went first week in June and it was fairly empty, so it was nice to have the place to ourselves with a large group of teenage boys. Direct access to Appalachian trail is nice. You dont get much more remote or wooded than this!

Lake Winfield Scott has a lake with several kinds of fish for those liking to fish. Hiking trails. They have 4 campsites with water and electric hookups on South Loop and 11 sites that are primitive. There is NO dumpstation.

We are so glad we found this campground. The managers were wonderful and our site was beautiful. Not having any cellphone signal was problematic but a nice break at the same time.

This is one of our favorite campsites. We've stayed in our pop-up on both the powered and unpowered spots and loved them both. They are spread out so you don't feel like you're right on top of each other - and with minimal noise. You're fully off-the-grid with no internet access so you get to immerse yourself in the beauty of nature! We love that you can access the Blood Mountain trail from the campsite area. We have had incredible campsite hosts. We can't wait to come back!

The weather was perfect. There was a wonderful turnout for the event. The only drawback was that the restrooms were closed due to a water problem. There were two porta johns available, but they were in the parking lot which was some distance from the large pavilion where our event was.

We had a LWS reunion for all campers, people who loved the lake as much as us. Total success, staff were so welcoming and helpful. Went way beyond the call of duty. Lake Winfield Scott was just as beautiful as ever! Thank you.

We got to the pavilion and the trash cans were full and had maggots!!! We took the trash off and had to bring back our pressure washer because there was moss on the steps (very slippery) we asked at the pay station for trash bags and her (Stephanie) reply was she didn't have any!! Luckly we brought some back with us. She was rude to us from the beginning!! NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE!!

This is a great campground. The host Stephanie is awesome. The Forest service needs to work on the sewer smell near the lake. It will take your breath. Other than that its a great place.

The tent pads are very unlevel and are fairly small for today's style of family tents . There was also no communication on the website that you were not allowed to bring your own fire wood unless it was from within 50 miles of the camp site. This was the first and last time I will get the group site unless it gets a overhaul and the tent pads are leveled and made bigger

Stephanie and her husband are always so helpful and we truly appreciate them and FindOutdoors for the work they do. This was our 5th stay at the cabin at Lake Winfield Scott and I’m not sure how many times we have hiked to Anna Ruby Falls but it never gets old. It’s our hope that soon the cabin at Lake Winfield Scott may be available year round. If it were we would certainly come more often. Some wish it had heat but we love the wood stove. Now if they want us mid summer then at least window unit A/C is a must. Overall our only complaint really is the gravel driveway… forget it if you don’t have 4x4. We do have it so no big deal for us. Find Outdoors we sure hope to hear that the cabin will soon be open year round but until then we will certainly plan to book as early as we can in the spring hoping for a cold enough weekend for the wood stove.

LWS is a fabulous campground! We went back to back weekends and stayed 1 night on the North Loop (the campsite was beautiful and wooded) and then 3 nights on the South Loop (the campsite was large, wooded and right next to the creek). Even with rain both weekends it was a great experience! This was my first time camping and couldn’t have asked for a better campground to go to! The managers are phenomenal, restrooms spotless and again just a great experience! We will definitely be back!!!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
