The hosts were very nice and the site on the edge of the meadow is beautiful.

There is no available water at the campground or anywhere near the campground. It's a long, steep, haul up the mountain to the campground. It's really inconvenient! But other than that, it's a lovely campground, with the sites having quite a bit of open ground between them. Nice long driveways at most of the sites. The lake was well stocked with trout. Some nice hiking, including the Continental Divide Trail that goes right through the campground. Really enjoyed my stay!

Camp host was professional, knowledgeable and responsive. This was the 4th of July weekend and he handle a couple of volatile situations extremely well. He helped make our stay wonderful.

Carson National Forest has suffered from a fungus and many of their trees have been cut down leaving piles of wood around. We originally reserved spot 28 and when we drove through that side of the camp ground is baron. The trees in the pictures are no longer there. We talked to the host and we were able to move to spot 5. It was perfect. The campground was quiet and there were trails to hike right from the campground.

Except for the down tree's all over the property, and no water, I highly recommend this area.Camp host was very welcoming and pleasant.

We had a great camp spot but many were out in the open. Easy access to campground. Bathrooms were very clean but could have used one or two more bathrooms in campground.

The camp host, and the site, were great. Unfortunately, fishing in Hopewell was dismal. Also, I wonder if it would be possible to designate certain areas as "quiet" and not allow generators. I can't stand those damn things when I'm looking for solitude. thanks.

This was our first time to Hopewell Lake Campground. We were equestrian campers. There is one pen provided at each site. While the pen is large, strong and with good footing...it does not accommodate 2 horses who get along like siblings. There are only 2 equestrian sites available. While the riding is fabulous in this area ... the campground does not allow horse campers to use other sites. We particularly appreciated the fact the campground was just off Hwy 64 ... a nice paved road! There were people at the lake fishing for trout from the bank ... when we went to water the horses (there was no water at the campground). They were gracious. We did not fish, but you might want to. I appreciated the helpful comments and suggestions I received when I called the Tres Piedras Ranger Station.

Nice campground, quiet and secluded and very well maintained.

Google Maps shows the 100 yr. old trees. Now you have a baron nothing. So depressing and no warning to campers. Hopewell is devoid of Hope.

Hopewell lake has become one of our favorite spots to camp, especially during the heat of the summer months, at 9900 feet above sea level it stays pretty cool during the days, cool in the evening making for perfect conditions to have a campfire, sit around with loved ones and enjoy the clear skies and clean air. A bit windy this time around, but enjoyable nonetheless, fishing was ok, with our grandson catching most of the catch. The camp host, Douglas is AWESOME, he shows just what a determined, dedicated person should be. Like many areas of this forest there has been losses to some of the most beautiful trees due to pine bark beetles, but still a great place to visit!!

I hate reservation sites and the up charge to use them. Morally it’s wrong. You messed up a good thing.
@jonathandE3D58 · Camped on Jun 21, 2023 at Campsite #10
Beautiful campground. The host is great. There was not any water available at the hydrants when we were there, this was announced prior to our arrival so it was not a surprise or inconvenience at all. This is a beautiful area up around 10,000 feet in the trees. Nice cool crisp evenings with beautiful sunsets. We had some deer visit our spot for breakfast. Nice hiking areas around and the little lake is also nice. We were not prepared to have cell service as all reports and reviews said there is not any, but, we had good T-Mobile service. This is going on our list of favorite places and we will be back for sure. Be sure your vehicle is gassed up, not any gas or stores for miles. Sad to see so many trees having to come down due to disease though.

Doug does an excellent job ma aging the property and is super helpful, knowledgeable, and keeps the rifraf down which is much appreciated considering the proximity of open camping. We visit regularly bit this was the first camp out. It was fabulous.

Douglas the camp host was friendly. He came around frequently checking on the campground. He monitored and enforced the rules such as one way traffic in the loop and kept non-campers out. He was helpful with local information. Very good experience “best campground host EVER”.

Hopewell Lake was a great campground located in a peaceful setting high in the Carson National Forest. It is not right on the lake, so the day use traffic is no problem. Cattle mingle about the campground, and there are great views from site 25.

Mid July and no water turned on yet seems a bit of a stretch. campground was clean and mostly quiet. Something needs to be done about the outlaws from the forest who feel they have access to the campground facilities and tear through on their ATVS; this is my third year coming there and it hasn't changed. Pretty unfair to the campground host who has to deal with them.
@RonaldT7406782 · Camped on Jul 15, 2022 at Campsite #14
Great campground and great camp host! Our only complaint is that the water is not turned on yet. We had plenty with us but some other campers ran out and had to drive to another town to fill up their jugs.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
