This is a beautiful campground with the Red River running beside it. There are many things to do and see in the area including the towns of Red River, Taos and the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument as well as trout fishing for those who enjoy that. I appreciated having a host at the campground and definitely hope to go back some day.

Fawn Lakes campground is one the best campgrounds in Red River. Campsites right on the river, super clean grounds, vault toilets, potable water. What's not to love!!! I stayed in a tent at campsite #3 - this IS the BEST site in the whole campground - and great neighbors all around! BEAUTIFUL campground!

This quaint little campground on the Red River is just two miles out of town. Good fishing and the camp host keep the outhouses clean and the campground quiet at night.

I understand you cannot hook a hose up and keep it on your trailer for the duration of a visit there at that site. There were several of us camping there together and carrying the water one jug at a time is hard. We had decided to put all our hoses together so we could run around and fill everybodys trailer up and then take them off. The camp wouldnt even listen and refused to let us fill our trailers instead carrying them to all our trailers one at a time. I think there should be some allowances when logic is given

Fishing and cool weather during summer are the main reasons that take me to Fawn Lakes campground every year. The town of Red River which is only 3 miles away from the campground, offers plenty of activities and shops.

The two lakes are empty. The campground was very nice, although fresh water is limited. The campground hosts were very friendly and helpful.

We were in site 14. It was an amazing site with the river so close you can hear it, well maintained facilities (cleanest vault toilets ever) and the camp hosts were so pleasant and worked hard at keeping the grounds clean and kept up.

Disappointed to see that the lakes have not been restored!

Great location. Loved the sound of running water next to campsite. Toilet was also very close. Since it was the Fawn Lakes campground, it was a little disappointing that the lakes were completely dried up. That was the reason we chose that location. It would have been nice to know. The camp hosts were very thorough. We would definitely return.

Beautiful sites along the Red River. The camp hosts kept the pit toilets so clean they smelled like a nice hotel!

Always have a great time at Fawn Lakes. Weather was cold the first part of our stay and very warm the second part. The only thing I can complain about is that the lakes still haven't been fixed. The camp hosts were very nice and helpful.

Campground was clean, and quiet. I just wish they would fix the lakes. It’s been over 5 years since the river took it out and now it’s a hazard.

Very clean area, great hosts! Will definitely come back. Also, firewood is sold on site as well.

Stepping out of the car and hearing the roaring creek and smelling the pine trees was a true gift to the senses. Loved the campground. My only knock is that the sites are a little close together.

Beautiful and cozy campground on the Pecos River. My favorite. The Rangers are always willing to help and support. Thanks for all your support in keeping this campground.

The sites were right near the river. We stayed at this site 1 night then moved to a different one for the remainder of our stay which was around 10 days. The camp host were very friendly and did everything they could to make our stay here enjoyable. The river was stocked with Rainbow trout and we had a blast catching them. The only issue we can complain about was the smell coming from the vault toilets! They really needed to have them either pumped or at least put some of that liquid into them that helps deodorize the odor coming from them.

Very nice little campground right near the stream. No hookups but no other complaints. The stream was stocked with trout and fish were caught every day.

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
