The Campground Hosts are the best ever!!!

The camp host is probably the worst I've ever experienced. He ran his generator in the morning and afternoon, which he was was very quick to point is allowed. When asked to turn it off, he very aggressively refused. He had build a small fence around his RV. He had 3 dogs who could easily jump it, and did. The fence was not for the dogs. It was to keep us campers out and away from his trailer. He was the opposite of friendly... the worst!

Fantastic campground in a gorgeous area tucked away in the beautiful Valle Vidal. BTW: The campground has nice accommodations for horses, but be sure to bring your own water for you and your horsey friends as there is no water at the campground. Definitely would recommend this campground.

campsites need work done on pad where we park trailers. Pens need more bars around bottom of pens. Need to get water fixed Roads suck getting to campground from either direction. Camp host were the worst we have ever had.

Josh the camp host was outstanding. He went above and beyond to make sure that we had enough water. This campground needs to have a water source. We had checked here the weekend before we left and it said there was water. I wish you had sent a separate email notification stating that there would not be any water. We were not prepared for no water. It is not like you can just pop out and get some. When will the water be fixed?

I had a great time camping here! The campsite area is clean and well maintained. There is a short trail that goes to a pond that was nice for an evening and morning walk. It was very quiet and peaceful here.

Great campsite! Elevation was perfect for a mid-June camp to escape the heat. Scenery up to the campground from main road was beautiful. Can't wait to get back here.

The area is beautiful. The camp is good, but i wish they had the water and trash service running. Will definitely return, very relaxing spot.

Beautiful area to camp. However the campground had no water service nor a camp host. There was a sign posted when you drove in but nothing on line when reservations were made. A man from Arkansas had brought a horse but was unable to get water.

Cimarron campground used to be a wonderful escape, but it is turning into a ghetto. Massive RVs with loud music and gas powered generators now outnumber tent campers 5 to 1. If you go there to listen to the elk bugling you are more likely to hear generators and barking dogs, even during the quiet hours of 10 pm to 8 am. Why they even bother leaving home is a mystery. There are probably better choices by finding forest service roads impassable to RVs and long trailers. Plenty of those in Carson National Forest. The Valle Vidal is truly one of NMs treasures and worth visiting. But if you go to Cimarron campground don’t expect peace and quiet.

Beautiful area but big-rig generators were annoying and no monitoring by camp host who we never saw

I had chosen this site because I have an upcoming hunt in November 2021, when I reserved I had explained I had a 42 foot trailer I requested a pull through when I arrived there was no way I could pull in to park my trailer I had to back in which took some time to maneuver in. It did take me about 45 minutes to finally maneuver into the spot I was assigned. I really enjoyed being in The area we were in. I do understand it was a Primitive sight. Camp host was gone for a day and a half unavailable to assist.

The campsite is lovely, clean and peaceful. Very green, lots of tall trees and shade. The sites themselves are spaced nicely, gives each spot some sense of privacy and seclusion. The nearby ponds were a big hit with our kids. We did not fish but it was fun to walk around and look at the water. The drive up the mountain is ROUGH in some spots but well worth it. It takes about 45 minutes to get up the mountain, it is a BEAUTIFUL drive with a cool little winding river/creek by the road once you are about 1/2 way up. LOTS of folks fishing the river. We will be making this a Fathers day tradition for sure.

Had a good experience here. We were the only ones camping and it appears that this facility is popular during the elk hunting season. If you drive the Loop Road near the campground I would recommend turning around where it heads east from the Rock Wall. Not much of interest beyond that. The region is beautiful with very low impact from visitors. The campground host does a fantastic job of upkeep on the facility. Forest Service was having problems with getting the water lines charged and water at the facility would be very nice to have. The road in is not a problem, just make sure you are traveling with E-rated tires and plan on an hour and a half from US Highway 64 near Cimarron. This was a great place to spend four nights, but will probably forego returning just because we want to explore other regions. We stayed in an off-road trailer with roof top tent.

Be careful using Google Maps to get to this location; it will try to take you through Philmont and another closed road off of Highway 64. Look for FR 1950 instead when coming from the East. The campsite was fairly private with each site a short walk from the bathrooms and water faucet. We enjoyed the quiet surroundings and the camp host was very friendly. The facilities were clean. Fishing is not great before stocking, but the hiking, nature, and seclusion was perfect. Will return!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
