We stayed in the Acorn campground for one night on a trip to visit family, and it was wonderful. Beautiful views, well-maintained campsites, impeccable bathrooms. Im so grateful our country has these amazing places to let our citizens and visitors enjoy the outdoors. If whoever reads this loses their job tomorrow please know you have been so valued

Be careful of raccoons! Fun time, beautiful site.

Ill speak on the actual site/area cuz anything else is up to human interaction Upper and lower sites, the whole area was pristine, only saw one water spigot in our corner(spot 17, spigot is right across from the entrance) Im sure there were more just didnt notice/or look for more. Bathrooms are centralized and in walking distance.

This one is at the top of the hill and it has a really nice view of the lake.

Nice views of the lake a short hike away. Very clean and quiet! Didn't use phone much but service was working.

Showers were warm, but it was winter time, and the water could have been a bit warmer. Good news is that the campsites were mostly clean. Not too many people camp here in the winter time. Unfortunately, the boat ramp launch area was closed. It's possible to go to Glory Hole, but you have to get a "red sticker" and wait a whole month (quarantine) before they will remove the sticker and allow you to use that ramp. So essentially, the lake is closed (fishing from the shoreline is still allowed with the proper license), but the campground is open. I had decent cell service with T-Mobile, although at times, signal would drop off when cars drove by.

Park rangers were friendly and did patrols in the dark. Jacob was especially helpful in getting me set up when I was struggling. The campground appears to be secure, with multiple gates that were closed 9 pm - 4 am. The campsite was clean and in good condition, with the picnic table and fire pit both available. Toilets had running water, working showers, and were in clean condition. Please beware the nearest gas station in town. I was there at 6 am when a stray dog approached and nearly attacked me.

We had a good time while we were there. We got to walk on several trails, that were brushed out. So it was good hiking.The actual camping was fun.The issue for me was navigating the pay site/website. I ended up having to pay twice for one stay. I messed up and space 17 two days earlier than when would've been there. For the life of me, I could not figure out how to cancel the order. So I had to make another reservation and pay again. That part is disappointing.

The tent site is about 10 or 20 ft above the level of the parking spot, so it's reasonably secluded. I had fair to good coverage with T-Mobile. Restrooms were well stocked and maintained. Shower temp was ok, but could be higher. No quarters needed for showers...yay!. Thank you.

Fall is quiet at the campground and we enjoyed peaceful surroundings. Make sure you check if the bathrooms near you are open, before you pick your site.

Booked 3 days as a short stopover on our way from Vancouver to Mexico. We enjoyed the quiet and the gorgeous lake view, so we ended up staying 11 days. Beautiful place and the park rangers were super friendly and helpful. Wed absolutely stay again. PS, the town of Sonora was really cute and had a great vibe. We had probably the best burger weve ever had, at Sonora Brewing by the candy shop.

Nice spot to camp in the off season with many sites to choose from.

unless you want to smell the porta-potty/bathroom during your stay then I wouldnt book this site. Bathrooms may need to be cleared out. Unpleasant smell during our weekend.

Excellent place to camp, clean and very safe bathrooms and the water is great.

Lots of wildlife, there were spiders and tarantulas but we only visibly came across them the first night as we arrived at sundown to unpack tents etc. the water was a hike to get to and there were lots of little leech -like insects if you waded in muddy part of water (kids), so check skin after, they came right off but was not fun. We had a large party w 3 campsites and the favorite was the ADA site as it was leveled, graveled and did not have as many ants or spiders.

Fully natural campsite with a magnificant lake you may swim in. We loved the place sooo much!
@StefaniL02325B · Camped on Jul 5, 2024 at Campsite #97
The description of the campsite I chose was completely inaccurate. Port-a-potties were available instead of bathrooms. I just left and did not even stay in the site I booked because it was so awful.
@RaymondM875254 · Camped on Jun 7, 2024 at Campsite #12
A lot of deer and wild turkeys near our site. Clean, mostly flat pad. Site 12 is just too close to the main road. Tons of traffic early in the morning as boater come in. Also, not as much safe as needed. It gets very hot in the afternoon. Ranger was by multiple times a day. Bathroom was clean. Showers worked fine. A group of campers in our area were very loud after 10pm(quiet hours). Acorn sites are no where near swimming. Overall, I had a good time but would prefer a different site in the future.

Its the prime spot to be at. The ground is mostly level with lever blocks. Great view of the lake. Only thing is beware if you have dogs foxtails everywhere this year more then any other year that I can remember there.

Campsite was clean, but had tall weeds. Bathrooms were closed - Porta potty was supplied, but bathrooms are better. Previous camper did not clear out until after 2pm

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
