Park rangers were super helpful and nice! Camp site was quiet and rules were obeyed. Only gripe was my campground was littered with cigarette butts!

After only a few nights being there they had a main water pipe break we were told to leave asap it took me hours to pack up. I don't believe the refund amt is correct plus I spent most of next day searching for another campground and paying the reservation fee again.

The campground is okay. It has plenty of geese and deer along with oak lined rolling hills of grass. However, the campground closed in our last day and told everyone to leave, IMMEDIATELY! Regardless of what the campers were doing. They stayed the water main had broke that morning but the water was still running. Many of the sites are unlevel. Our site had a dead tree marked to be cut down. It did not seem well kept. They also did not have a camp host. The ranger stated that he was only a volunteer. Stay at your own risk.

My site was so sloped I could not level my LTV. I called and got a dozen other available sites to check to see if I could find something that was more level and I could not. The campground is the worse I hav seen in the last four months touring CA. The toilets were disgustingly bad and tent campers camped all around the toilets. Bad experience, we left after one night.

We really like it here, but many of the site pads are very unlevel. Other than that, it's great.

Park rangers are super friendly and helpful. Always a relaxing stay.

Nice, helpful stop in for daily patrols. Seem like facilities are check and cleaned on a weekly basis by contractors. This particular spot seemed ideal for me with bathroom and water within easy reach, and a quiet setting

Was unable to stay as rv dump station was unusable, as it has been for months

It was very quiet, I got there a little early but the ranger was very nice and let me stay in my space because it hadnt been occupied the night before. There is a nice walk from the campground to the lake.

Great place to get some rest nice and quiet
@SamS5464358 · Camped on Jan 17, 2025 at Campsite #13
Pros: Free showers, clean sites, and water access were close by.Cons:Fire rings grill/grate falling apart a little, water pressure was really low, and the mens restroom lock mechanism was missing (good thing someone brought in a twig).

Nice and quiet over New Year's. This is definitely a better place to camp when the temperatures are lower because of the lack of shade. We stayed at site #23 with a 20' camper and a short walk down to the water. Unfortunately, the previous occupants left garbage in the fire pit and some trash (and a knife) around the campsite. Be advised there's no camp host in winter and no ranger to be seen. Sites weren't even marked with proof of reservation. Half the campground was closed down for the season and very few campers around. Water spigots worked though. For winter camping in a camper on short notice this was great, but this campground would not be worth it in the heavy traffic/high temp summer months. Campsites are pretty close together with most having zero privacy barrier.

The ADA campsite was vey nice, along with everything else. Clean facilities and we say the ranger checking on things several times.

Lots of wildlife in the park, including deer, turkeys, and geese.

Acorn Campground is located on the waters edge of New Hogan Lake. Visited 12/22/2025 and was not crowded at all. Easy online checkin with table, firepit, and clean bathrooms. Friendly staff and very well kept. AAA++++++

Nice dump station. This place has gone downhill over the last year. Trash everywhere. Even though there are plenty of receptacles. What is wrong with people? Or better yet, why don't the camp hosts clean it up?
@FredH2F1F53F85 · Camped on Dec 1, 2024 at Campsite #20
My main reason for a fair rating was because the Dump was full when we got there, and still full when we left. VERY inconvenient. There was also someones stuff, (tent, fishing poles, generator, etc) in our reserved spot. Not a person, just their stuff (for days). The ranger was kind enough to place us in a different site right away. This is a nice campground, I hope this is no indication of things to come.

Lack of rule enforcement... Little to no Ranger presence through the campsite, and after-hours generators running all night long. Loud cars, trucks, and motorcycles coming into campgrounds, speeding, Loud music, and Too many Homeless.It's hard to feel safe, e after 10 pm. Campsites are used as a day-use area. This lake used to be a fantastic place to stay ... but the After hour Rules not being enforced, and no patrols, make it feel like you are very vulnerable at 12, 3, and 5 a.m. ......., making for the uneasy, sleepless night ... need to be on full alert and feel the need for safety measures, because if you have to call 911 ... it's going to be 15 minutes before you will see an outside sheriff or any other law enforcement. Did I add chopping firewood between 10 pm and 8:00 AM?Plus homeless stay longer than 14 days ... because the rangers do not come through the campsite and check who is legally at the campsite and check when they arrive and depart. This is wrong. I pay good money and do my best to live up to the rules I agree to when signing up for my reservations. But IO PM is quite tired of putting up with all the unlawful disrespectfulness in the campsites, and the number of cars/people/ loud generators running hours on end long after 10 o'clock.It's going to be just a matter of time until a serious situation is going to happen and someone will be involved with an unpleasant ending to their vacation.And I have witnessed firearms being discharged in the campgrounds twice this year ... September and November.This is not acceptable.I love New Hogan and have been coming to the lake, on and off for 60 years. But now I am having to stress at night because of the after-hour activities by those who obviously do not belong in the campgrounds. and fear leaving my campground unattended because of the homeless traffic and shady characters running around the grounds during the day. Make New Hogan SAFER, or next year Hogan will be a ZOO! SAD.

We had a great weekend at Acorn Campground and look forward to returning. We did not use the restrooms, but others that were camping with us did, and the report was less than great, but that can be improved upon.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
