No cell service and no Ranger coverage nearly lead to a tragedy as the river rose rapidly on our second night. Our group, 6 guys, barely got out before being swept away at 2 am. All good, but could have been bad.

Great trip, camp host was very friendly.

Please post signs on the road going through the horse camp to drive SLOWLY! Drivers speed up and down that road, which is unsafe and blew dust everywhere, during this dry fall season. Better yet, a sign restricting traffic on that road to HORSE CAMPERS ONLY.

Campground was well maintained. The trails around the camp we clear and marked pretty well. Overall a great experience.

Coming to Steel Creek is a yearly trip with family and friends, the campground never disappoints! The area is great, access to the river is wonderful.If you come early in the season the floating is great as well. Hiking in the area as abundant with many options from easy trails to more experienced ones. There are mountain bike trails close by and also rock climbing.

Beautiful location. It is nestled in a valley right next to the Buffalo river and sheer rock formation. Unfortunately, I was unable to stay due to weather forecast of severe weather and tornado concerns. I will definitely stay here in the future.

It was a wonderful camping experience! Great bathroom facilities, a little packed at times but we went on spring break. Camp site #4 was back by the woods and away from other campers, it was great!

Steel Creek never disappoints. We had a great time & the scenery is gorgeous. There were lots of other campers, but the sites are spread out enough you feel like you have plenty of personal space. The bathrooms were still open for the season & were clean & stocked with toilet paper & soap. The picnic tables were clean & in good shape. We will definitely continue to camp here.

Beautiful campground, clean bathrooms. Wish there was more reservable sites.

Camping on grass was nice, and the restrooms were clean. But, one camper had a large barking dog that was permitted to bark for 3 days. The sites are very close together and there is no privacy.

We didn't actually end up camping at Steel Creek since we have an overland tent (in the back of the truck) and there was no where to park it. With no park rangers to help we went back to Ponca and spoke with the Buffalo Outdoor Center who recommended we try Kyle's Landing. So I paid for camping twice. Kyle's landing was lovely.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Bathrooms are basic with two stalls. Bathrooms were clean.There isnt much of a view from the campsites.No cell service or internet. Lots of good hiking trails nearby. Each campsite by the trees hasan unofficial trail down to the river. The campsites in the trees could have more underbrush cleared out so there is more room for tents etc. There is an official trail to the river for swimming etc.The rangers were very friendly and helpful. Would camp here again.

Ranger was extremely helpful while making his morning rounds and campsites were very clean. Had a great hike on the BRT and had multiple sightings of the nearby elk herd. Our kids loved the experience and the night sky was spectacular.

Beautiful secluded campsite right by the Buffalo. Well kept and quiet. Nice to get away from cell phone service and electricity!

We had a wonderful time camping at Steel Creek. Being so close to the Buffalo River is such a plus. All the grand kids had lots of fun playing in the river, looking at rocks, and catching tadpoles .

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
