The descriptions of the sites are not accurate. The night that we stayed there all the restrooms were locked and unavailable. There was a camp host on site, but would not answer the door to explain what was going on or to offer any help. I would never stay there again.

Beautiful area! Flushing toilets and drinking water nearby. We had a spot without much shade coverage (site a-21) and on the edge of the grounds so the wind and sun were too much for our liking. Next time we will choose another spot at the site but would definitely come back!

I grew up camping in this loop, and decided to try a different campsite. This one may be my favorite at Firefighters. Its a bit tucked away and your only neighbors that you can see are the camp host to your right, and campground five across the road. It tends to be a bit more quiet and relaxed since youre not so close to other campers. That being said, heres what you need to know. -cell service is okay - I had 5G at 2 bars. -there is a fire pit with a built in grill. -the picnic table is long. Regular sized table covers probably wont cut it. I bought a table cover from Amazon and it was just barely long enough. -there are trees. You will have partial shade all throughout the day. -speaking of trees, they were great for our clothesline and hammock. -bring your own soap for the bathroom with a hand towel. -bathroom is close to this campsite just up the road.

Beautiful campground with campsites spaced out so you are not on top of your neighbors. It is also very close to the dam if you are inclined to access the river.

Having the option to shower at the neighboring camp was appreciated! Unfortunately you can't gather wood in the campground., this seem like it encourages people to transport wood from other places, which causes more problems. The toilets seem to clog easily as it happened once for men and women stall. However, the campground host was quick to address it and they were very kind. Love how campground sites have lots of privacy.(we had loop A, 25, 26, 27. The wind did break two of our tents. Beautiful area, would visit again.

The campground was great, we enjoyed camping here, just don't expect the site to easily accommodate larger groups, even though the sites say they accommodate up to 10 people. There was plenty of room for all 10 of us at the camp site, that wasn't the issue. The problem came with parking the vehicles. Our family group (10 people) had the truck pulling the camp trailer, another truck pulling the boat, and an SUV. The truck and camp trailer fit in the site, but left no room for the other vehicles. The paved sites are about 9 feet wide and have raised pavement "sides" that are 6" tall. Parking our camp trailer as close to one of these edges as I could get, the stairs on the other side came right to the raised edge. It made a tripping hazard getting in and out of the trailer, and effectively made it so we could not park 2 vehicles in front of the camper. There is no overflow parking in the campground for the extra vehicles. Even though the campground was not full, the hosts only solution was to have us pay for another camp site at $26 per night for our three night stay just to have the room to park our vehicles, either that or have the inconvenience of parking them several miles away and shuttling people back and forth. We were not the only ones affected this way, there were several other groups that had to pay for an extra camp site just to use the parking. I would guess that at least half of the walk up sites were filled this way (Labor Day Weekend, 2023). The draw to this camp site is the proximity to Flaming Gorge, which means people will bring their water toys, and need extra parking. This campground NEEDS an overflow parking lot. There are plenty of places to do dispersed camping in Ashley National Forest for free, and next time I think we will skip the extra $78 on our three night camping trip by going a few miles further up the mountain to one of those dispersed camping areas where we will not have to pay for a site.

The site we picked was a bit difficult to back into -- but got it done. Nice table and fire pit which was used -- the lake was not too far away. Good host -- overall a good experience, but it is a busy campground

Camp host was great and very nice facilities, and close to a lot of recreational activities.

We enjoy Firefighters Camp grounds. The location is prime for getting to Flaming Gorge and the resorts quickly. I do wish they didn't have the asphalt curbing along the road. It makes it challenging to get in a few of the sights with a 40ft trailer..... Even our family with a 35ft trailer had issues with their chosen site and ended up moving to one with easier access.

Convenient to fishing, boating, restaurants. It is a nice campground with clean flush toilets and water everywhere.

We spent about 10 wonderful days at Firefighters Memorial Campground. One of the camp hosts, Mickey, and his wife were very accommodating. We were in a first-come-first-serve spot for several days and had reserved another spot for later in the trip. Every time we changed our minds about where we wanted to stay, they worked with us to make sure that we were happy. They could have just gone purely by what we had reserved, but they went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The facilities were always clean and everyone was just so friendly.

Very nice place! We liked it a lo. One improvent could be, that the dumpstation is free to use for the people who are staying at the campground

Camp hosts were very helpful and friendly. Beautiful campground. Only complaint that we have is that there are spots that say they can handle equipment that they actually cannot handle. We encountered this issue with our booking. Camp hosts were able to help us move to a new spot that fit our needs. Overall very pleased.

The hotter than normal weather caused us to have to cut our trip short. The park was great as were the hosts. High wind destroyed our pop up canopy which took away any shade that we had. No fault of the park or staff of course. We will try June next time.

We LOVE this campground!! We have stayed here many times over the years and it’s always been well kept and a great experience. We are always so thankful it has flushing toilets and sinks to wash our hands. We only have a tent so this feature is a must!!! It’s such a beautiful campground and has perfect trees for shade, privacy, and hammocks! Just be careful on the side near the memorial if you have really little kids. There are some beautiful steep drop offs that some of the campsites are along. Incredible views for adults and older kids but scary as a parent with littles.

Spacious sites in a natural setting. There were no hookups, but we were able to fill our water tank at the dump station at the entrance, use our solar during our stay, and dump our black tank when we left. We took great hikes every day - a 6.5 mile Canyon Rim Trail, a 7 mile river trail starting at Little Hole, and a 3.5 mile Bear Canyon Trail just across from the campground. We put up our Clam, cooked out on the grill, and enjoyed our dinners and evenings outside. Campground was quiet. The only issue - campground sites were a bit narrow and had curbs along the sides, making it a little more difficult to back in to your site, but we managed! We would camp here again.

What a great spot, as a retired first responder, I was grateful this camp was dedicated to those heroes that gave all.

Although I've only been to Flaming Gorge twice in my life, each time we stayed at Firefighters memorial Campground. Can't think of any reason why we'd go to any other Campground?
@AlysonN294 · Camped on Aug 20, 2021 at Campsite #2
This is my 3rd time staying at Firefighter's Memorial Campground. The campsite I stayed in (loop A) was more dated than the previous two (ex. fire pit structure was crumbling). The bathrooms were clean.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
