Weather was great, nice park attendants, clean bath & restrooms. Will definitely go back in the future.

Quiet, wasn't too crowded. Lake adjacent site, very nice scenery. In the morning before sunrise there was a bit of traffic at the boat launch, but I was already awake so it wasn't a bother. Something to keep in mind if that's relevant to you.

This is a beautiful place to camp.

This campground is spacious, well maintained, quiet and beautiful! Site is paved and level, setting up was a breeze. Sites F2 and F3 are situated together in a parallel parking setup but there was plenty of room with my 25ft camper and the neighbors 30 ft camper. There are three terraced steps down to the picnic table/fire ring but they are not steep. There is not a BBQ grill. Will need a long water hose to reach the faucet. The bathrooms are not close to the site. The restroom bldg on the B side was clean. The one by the playground was not. Campsite is facing the water - the swimming area and boat ramp. There is a parking area between the site and the water to park extra vehicles and boats to keep an eye on your vehicles.

We have loved staying at Shoal Bay in the past. The last few trips we have noticed things not being taken care of like normal. 2 times now that we have stayed they have had electrical issues. The power kept surging and messed up the air condioner in our camper over Labor Day weekend. The park attendant was notified of the electrical issue and someone was sent out to work on the power box on our site. We were told it was fixed and we shouldn't have any more problems. Later that day, both our site and the one next to us had the same electrical problem. The park is in desperate need of an update and after speaking to others, its been an issue for a while. We are now stuck with the bill of fixing our air.

Well we been going there for almost 40 years but since they went to volunteers at the park its not as freindly there are a lot of dogs running loose especially little dogs we take 3 big dogs and walk them and have dogs running up while we are walking and if there is a problem with the electric or water they have to call and takes a while to get fixed Gary used to run the gate and would have it fixed asap just not the same park i don't understand why we pay taxes and can't have decent parks to go to.

Its time for an electrical upgrade, the parks main breaker tripped multiple times during our stay.

Friendly camp hosts. Close to National forest if you like to ride. VFW is really close if youre interested in a cool spot to have a drink.

We love this campground and usually visit every year as we have family from this area and lost loved ones in Elisabeth Hall Cemetery.

Ive camped here for several years and the restrooms/showers are steadily getting worse each yaar. This year the water temperature in the showers were Luke warm at best. The fish cleaning station needs to be repaired and set up like the one at Lake Nimrod, AR (Quarry Cove Campground). On a good note, the new Attendant (Chad Freeman) is a very good host. If the swimming area is never open, take it out and put in an area to dock boats. Also, need some shelters installed over the picnic tables are the campsites. This campground makes enough money annually to make the changes possible.

Great campground and amazing hosts.

The campground is beautiful and very popular. It was busy with lots of people fishing and taking hikes. We were unfortunately next to a group of young guys who were there to party late into the night. Not the fault of the camp hosts though.

Went here for the solar eclipse in 2024. It was a very nice campground. It's primarily for RVs but there were a couple of tent campers. The beach was temporarily closed to swimming but boaters were free to use the lake. The bathrooms have showers so you can avoid using your own water as much as practical. Felt about the right amount of secluded but close enough to civilization. Would gladly camp here again.
@MeaganS9597318 · Camped on Apr 7, 2024 at Campsite #A1
Had a great experience there during the eclipse. Great site. Kids had fun at the park. The only thing we didn't like was the bathroom made a weird loud noise randomly all day and night. Also the showers were closed, but that didn't bother us.

A beautiful place to camp! Everything was well kept, the bathrooms and showers were clean and well maintained. We really enjoyed the Fish Trail (easy hiking), and went a little ways on the other trails but had limited time (we camped during the eclipse.) The rock formations along the upper trails were amazing! Lots of steps and climbing but great photo opportunities!The staff were super friendly and helpful. All in all a great experience!

Great campsite! Staff was friendly and checked on me throughout my stay.

Hot showers. The bathroom and shower facility at the far side of the campground was much cleaner than the one near the entrance.
@DanielV1589109 · Camped on Apr 6, 2024 at Campsite #C7
We enjoyed this park. Not fancy but well cared for. The bath house I used was in good condition and clean. We would make this a first choice if we are in the area again.
@MelanieACC12B5 · Camped on Apr 6, 2024 at Campsite #E2
Shoal Bay is always clean and the hosts are very friendly. We visit here several times a year and this was where we wanted to be for the eclipse and it was perfect for the viewing.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
