Unfortunately just an overnight for us, but a beautiful park, and really friendly and helpful rangers. Getting around in Acadia NP takes some figuring out, but Blackwoods Campground itself is easy to navigate and some excellent sites. A shower would have been nice, but at the same time I wouldn't want Acadia to be that kind of place.

Was a very nice experience, the washrooms were extremely clean and the park is very pretty! The only con are the the big rocks in the campsite! I have a camper, and I felt I didnt have privacy, as my car was to close the street. Otherwise I love it and I want to go again

We really enjoyed this site. Ample space for hammocks and excellent cell phone service.

The campground was clean, bathrooms were spotless. The woods were beautiful and smelled wonderful. I wish that there were shower accommodations on site.Need to have a lot of quarters for the one nearby. Went to Bar Harbor for the 2 hour evening sail on the schooner Margaret Todd. That was beautiful!

Campground is wonderful!!Reservation system is horrible!Have to wait till two months before youre going to be there, and try to get a site for the entire time youre going to stay. Even the Rangers say the system is terrible!We love Blackwoods but not the reservation system.

Booked two nights last minute so got only one night on each site. Travelling with a truck camper so we just took everything and went sightseeing before returning to the second site. Great park. Short walk to the ocean overlook

Very well maintained and quiet. Would be nice if the bathrooms had soap though. Showers just outside the campground are easily accessible and clean.

This site was very convenient to the restrooms. Ample space for hammocks. Cell phone service was fairly good - FaceTime OK but with some lapses.

Blackwoods was the perfect place for a couple of days of solitude, contemplation, hiking, and just being outdoors.

Nice wooded campground, clean restrooms. Too bad about no wi-fi. The campground map needed better notation on where the washwater-dump site was, but we found it. Also, we needed better info (or a better map) about taking the Quarry Path to connect to the Ocean Path. Walking from the campground to that popular Park Loop Drive is definitely better than contending with all the cars and tour buses (even after Labor Day).

Really noisy with dogs and generators. the site was nice.

It was a beautiful campground....very clean...restrooms were spotless...showers were just down the road.... My only complaint was that they allowed people to be loud too late into the night. People come to places like this to enjoy the quiet of Nature...and that is taken away with loud music and rowdy people partying. Other than that, we couldn't have been happier....planning to go back again.

Blackwoods is okay, but nothing special. It's a fairly noisy area, with a lot of dogs and even--on one night of my stay--a loud gas generator from one of the campers. It seems weird that the park would allow the gas generator specifically. It does quiet down at night, and I had no trouble sleeping until the dogs started barking in the morning. The location is great. There's an hourly bus to/from Bar Harbor and an unmarked stop for other buses along the auto tour loop. The restrooms were clean. There are no showers here, which is a bit frustrating, though there's one just outside the campground. Another challenge was the water spigot: for me there was only one near the restroom, and it was super high pressure and sprayed everywhere. I should also note that the one garbage can in my area filled quickly, so often I had no place to put my trash. If you prioritize a good location in the park, this is a great spot, but for a nice camping experience I'd go elsewhere. I did also go to Seawall, which was a bit better and much quieter. Happy camping!

Acadia in early September is still crowded, but not overrun. We stayed at Blackwoods, in a tent site. They are nice sites, with flat tent pads and a fire ring. The site is wooded but you still are close to other sites and the tree trunks do not interfere with visual contact. Lots of good hikes right from Blackwoods, including South Ridge of Cadillac Mt. An easy drive into Bar Harbor for shopping/meals if that interests you.

Beautiful campsite, great location, wonderful stars at night!

The campground was very noisy in the evening. While I understand children playing, babies crying, etc. , the barking dogs were very disturbing. Twice park personnel walked thru to check on things, yet did not do or say anything about the dogs.

We had a wonderful time! We will definitely be back to hike and camp again!

This is my favorite place in Maine .It is a peaceful campground and exciting environment with beautiful hikes in the rolling mountains that overlook the ocean . The Loop road and carriage roads are spectacular to travel by bike . I would ask that if campers reserve sites at the National campground(Blackwood) and do not show up please cancel your reservations. So many open sites at the campground but the reservation system reports full/no availability.Please think about others who may like to visit this beautiful park .

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
