We love this campground, everything about it is absolutely amazing except the fact that half the reserved sites (the best ones along the river most notably) sit empty because people who reserved them a while back, like 6 months in advance, don't show up and don't care to cancel. This particular place, managed by Linn county, is worse than most Forest Service campgrounds because the managers honor the reservations of people who don't show up until the very end.

Beautiful campground! We were lucky to snag and FF spot, and it was a perfect place. Although our spot was right next to the bathroom, we were not disturbed by people at all. The bathroom did have a smell that would waft through occasionally, but that is to be expected. Our site was clean, large, with plenty of flat spots for tents. The tree cover was great for providing shade and making our space feel private. The only issue is there is no way to get to the river without walking through someone's site or out of the campground and onto the public trail.

Amazing campground with great water access at almost every site. Waterfall hike (short), cliffs to jump off into a deep pool, and gorgeous clear (very cold) water!

Great set of camp sites. Many right against the South Santiam River, with good tree shade and well groomed. Water pumps, covered garbage cans and clean vault toilets. No showers or other plumbing. There are a few cons, however: Water from the pump is a bit dirty looking, so I ended up using my Katadyn water filter on it, which was great. There is a steep loose dirt and gravel hill up to campsites 8-17, difficult to get up with 2-wheel drive car, and impossible on a motorcycle. Do not attempt this on a motorcycle! Book one of the first 7 camp sites instead. The road down from Highway 20 is a bit steep and gravel as well, so be careful. There is no camp host at site 1, and there is no firewood to buy, so you'll have to buy it on the road and bring it in.

This campground is not suitable for any kind of trailer. The spot online said it would fit my 24ft trailer with room to spare. However upon arrival I could not even make the loop to turn around and back in to the spot that was so small you couldn’t park a truck in let alone a trailer. I had to back all the way up the road and turn around up a very steep hill. 10/10 do not recommend. We left and did not stay. Never going back.

No camp host. Vault toilets were in fair condition, odor was noted. Sites along the river are wonderful. Several of these sites had reserved tags on them but were not occupied, and never were while we were there. Frustrating, because we wanted to stay a second night. Great hikes from this campground.

Beautiful campground Very helpful employee Wish it was easier for those of us who live here to enjoy more of our own campgrounds Park said full hut several people around us never showed up and we would have loved to stay more days

We were at site 16, and it was so beautiful. Right on the water, although it was rushing and cold, we were still very satisfied! Will definitely go back. Vault toilet nearby- cleaned daily. Absolutely NO cell service, so it was a good reset!

We love this campground. Its shady. The sites are big and private. The river and the forest are beautiful. We love the hike to the waterfall. My only critique is that if you don't get one of the amazing sites with river access, there isn't great access anywhere else, without walking through someone else's site.

Probably a great place for tent campers and for those with trailers that know the various spaces. However for us, not being either, this campground didn’t work out. We pull a 26’ trailer and could barely make the turn at end of the first loop (on the right). We didn’t see any signage to warn us not to take that loop. It took multiple small turns and backing to get out of there. I walked the other loop and found that our reserved spot, #11, was just a wide spot in the road without room for a 2foot slide out. There are better campgrounds in the area for unfamiliar travelers.

Beautiful camp sites. Be sure to bring in plenty of water and fire wood.

Site 8 was a beautiful location with plenty of space to maneuver around. We camped in our van, which I would not advise as the driveway is steep (way steeper than the photo advertises). This site does have ample tent space and is further away from the river than others, but is an easy couple minute walk away and it’s loud enough that you still get to enjoy it’s lovely sound!

Incredible beauty surrounded us. Site #14 had a 600-year-old Douglas -fir in the middle of our camp. And, the beautiful South Santiam offered us a swimming hole right off our campsite.

Had the best spot at house rock. Number 14 al time favorite. Campground clean
@ParkerM162 · Camped on Aug 1, 2021 at Campsite #4
The sites were very close together and we couldn't get our trailer in the very short driveway. Also, the water was not accessible even though our site was right next to it. We ended up leaving.
@HelenF356 · Camped on Jul 26, 2021 at Campsite #9
Good for tent campers. Quiet sites-no generators! Lots of privacy for sites on the hill side, not so much for sites along the river. We were there mid-summer and appears the main activity is swimming in the river. Only one loop hiking trail, but connects to lots of Forest Service roads. Drive to other hiking trails such as Iron Mountain.
@LisaW400 · Camped on Jul 24, 2021 at Campsite #5
Had lots of fun. The site I had was bigger than I thought it would be, and right on the water. Next time I'll get two sites though, because they are close to others. Also bathroom should be cleaned more often.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
