Packard Creek has been an annual destination for our family for over 20 years. The camp hosts over the years have been great and this year was no exception. Korvis (spelling?) was very nice, knowledgeable, and kept us up to date on the nearby forest fires. The bathrooms were clean and the stay would have been perfect if not for all the smoke from the forest fires. We look forward to coming back next year!!!

This spot is awesome right on the lake and the pavilion was cool.

Nice, clean, quiet campground only one hour from Springfield. Good swimming area, a place to launch a boat, a separate area for canoes/kayaks. Access to hiking trails. The host was very helpful and changed our reservation when we arrived because the spot we reserved online was not adequate for our motorhome.

We have a 28 foot 5th wheel and the sites were too small so we had to leave the campground. The host was very nice and helpful but i would not recommend it for larger units. Lots of poison oak and it was quite a walk down to the water from the sites.

We were without water for 3 of the 7 days in 100 degree heat! The camp host only showed up every other day and didnt stay on site to resolve the water issue. Not happy as this is the worst it was staying there in 40 years I have camped at Packard Creek.

The map on the web sight is not the same as the campground. Most all camp sites you have to carry your stuff into, some more than others. The sites are small and not level. Lots of poison oak! The description of the sight was misleading. The lake was beautiful but we won't be going back.

Wonderful camphost Martin, but we hadn't been there before and as lifelong campers we never expected our campsite was in a parking lot, so that was a shock but too late to make other plans. Also if we'd known road construction would be ongoing daily from 5:30 am to about 4:30 we would've made different plans. Every morning we'd be awakened to heavy equipment sounding like it was in our 'parking lot' instead of maybe 1/8 mile away or less.

Great base camp for mountain biking

Nice campsite but people were running generators a lot. Lock up everything. Camp chair was stolen

Nice campground with lots of shoreline. Most sites are built into the sloping hillside with level areas for tents and picnic/firepit

Cleanest campground we have ever been at. Restrooms were mopped and updated daily. Even in locations were there were no campers. Host visited us every day to make sure all was OK. (Amazing) I don't know his name but he was an outstanding and friendly host. We visited the Waldo Lake campground for lunch one day and were amazed how unclean the restrooms were. It made us really look at how well maintained Packard was kept.

Too compact and very noisy late at night!

It's a very good location for a big group. The host was very nice and the lake is very beautiful this year.

Can pretty confidently say we will never come back here. Most of the sites are so small, not level, and there is seriously poison oak EVERYWHERE! We camp very often with our two young kids and usually the best part of camping with them is letting them play, dig, build (with sticks), explore in the campsite, but not here, way too much poison oak! The site I reserved online had stairs that needed to be repaired and didn't fit our tent (although there are no tent pad dimensions listed online upon reserving, to me this should be something that's included in every site), luckily the host was extremely kind and let us switch spots. I did give it two stars because the lake was ok and we had a fun day playing. Even though the "beach" is a concrete slab, there's no longer a sectioned off designated swim area, and the grass there is not grass, more like rough mowed weeds. Hey I guess it was mowed! Still lots of poison oak near the picnic site and hard to tell which picnic sites were day use and which were camp sites. But the lake water was nice and there weren't too many boats, it made for a fun day paddleboarding. We also saw a family of skunks, so do what you will with that info. Also want to point out that the hosts know about a lot of the issues with this campground and made it seem like when they report stuff nothing gets done, so not their fault. For real, with all the amazing camping spots in Oregon, I don't think I'll miss not coming back to this one.

Osprey! Osprey! Osprey! But first let me say that we didn’t stay in #08 as planned. It has a steep descent in and barely room for our 4 person tent. Should have some steps cut in. So, with help from the friendly and kind hosts we ended up in #25, a first come first served campsite. On a peninsula in the trees but open with nice tent sites. Each day juvenile Osprey soared above our camp calling, play fighting and sitting in the trees. Ravens came through every morning. A trail from the site connects with a little used shoreline trail with access to the water. Past the south end of the lake, Sand Prairie Campground has the beginning of the Middle Fork Willamette Trail. It’s a lovely walk full of wildflowers and butterflies this time of year and goes through old growth fir and cedar. Packard Creek, like many FS campgrounds, is a bit run down and the boat docks are gone. Good news if you don’t want to listen to speedboats and jet skis. The pit style bathrooms were immaculate. We loved the campground hosts. The only reason it’s a 4 star rating instead of 5, is because we had bad neighbors. A large group that started drinking early and kept us awake until 1 or 2 both nights. We left a day early because of that. The hosts did their best to quiet them down but that’s just how it goes sometimes. I’d go back again, on weekdays.

Most of the camp sites are down a trail, so pack light! Our camp site was by the day use boat parking and we had issues with people walking through our camp to access the lake, even though the trail was clearly marked as campsite 34. The bathrooms were the cleanest vault toilets I have ever been in.

Great campsite, beautiful views, and just 20 minutes from must-experience hot springs!

The park was super clean and the bathrooms where some of the cleanest I have ever seen. I enjoyed that it was just far enough out of town to feel remote, but we were able to run into town if we needed.

I love this campground with the more “rural” setting and more private camp sites with quite a bit of space and brush between them, which provides privacy. It was disappointing that the water line to the upper loop was broken so there wasn’t water at the upper loop faucets.

Site 10 was way too small for our RV. We stayed in a different site. The host said we had to pay for that other site but could cancel our reservation when we return home. Now when I try to cancel, we are not given a refund. Recreation.gov need to have better descriptions and pictures of their sites, so people can be sure the site will work for their camping needs.

The camp hosts were very friendly and helpful and kept the area very clean. I was disappointed that our spot was part of a parking lot and not where the map showed. Please update the website to accurately reflect those 3 "camp sites."

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
